How to Pitch: Sandcrest L | Outwell 2023 

I have recently purchased one and as an experienced campervanner more use to side awnings, I thought this would be useful for the odd weekend away, when we just wanted a bit of off-van storage at night. We have just used it for 3 nights in Bala, Wales. It was quite a pain to put up given it's size, but we got there and it did the job we wanted. The weather was damp, windy and chilly and the sides do not peg flush to the ground (just like in the video), so there is always a gap, which I can imagine would be a pain in more inclement weather. Yes it's cheap and you get what you pay for, not sure how long it will last given the stretch load on the canvass with the tail gate up all the time. I guess i'll see what it is like at the end of the camping season. Would I buy one again...nah.

After just a couple of years light use one of the zips has broken. Also, one of the clips holding the top of the awning to the pole, keeps unclipping itself. I've pitched it correctly but it still happens. Can anyone advise where I can get the zip mended please?

80% of the Vans I know have a bike carrier on the back including me. Vans are made for an active target group. So it is for me kinda weird that all those great rear-tent applications don´t consider the situation that the backdoor is higher than 205 cm when it is open with the bike carrier on top. Obviously I´m talking about the carrier without the bikes. But the open door might face a height of about 240 cm with the bike carrier on top. Why not producing a model with takes this fact into account? I bet there is quiet a bunch of people out there waiting exactly for such a rear-tent.

It’s a pain to set it up and a greater pain to pack up. The poles are crazy complicated to put back into the bag.

Given that this guy introduced this as an instructional video, I’d have expected more instructions rather than listening to him huff and puff 😂
