Thank you I have psychosis and needed a hobby to help me get out of my racing thoughts and stumbled upon diamond painting I’m in love with it but Im struggling and obsessing over any uneven lines and just bought the ruler on a whim. I’m glad I found your video it really helped me, I was worried once I got the ruler that it would pull all the drills back up with it! And decided to look up a video on how to use the ruler and luckily found your helpful video! Thanks again hope you have a lovely day!!
I use my roller kind of like you use your finger. I love that satisfying “pop” when it pushes those stubborn little drills through😀. I’m a newbie to diamond art and already addicted. Thanks for the video. I was wondering how to use the loooong guide with multiplayers. I’ll give it a try.
I originally started doing the paintings w/ out using the ruler or a light. The rows are not straight, but once they light is turned off, you really can't tell. I did finally get a ruler and I have had 3 of them break. I find one that was a bit different and I love it. Instead of placing diamonds all the way across a row, there are some you place and others you do not until the ruler is taken up. I also found it a lot more sturdy than the ones that broke.
I run my roller over the ruler before I lift it out. That gets most of the diamonds through and I can just lift it straight off. Any that are left stuck I just push through with my pen as I'm lifting it off.
I have at least 18 different rulers in my shop, drillpenfrenzy.com. 5 different types of holes varying for 6 different canvas spacings. I have a video linked in the description of the ruler listing that shows you how to measure your canvas. The ruler in this video has 800 holes. We have larger ones that have 1020 holes and then 2200 holes! That one is my favorite 😊.
same! i tried freehand at first and it was not as satisfying as when i started using mesh ruler. i have the small one. 216 holes i think. since you've mentioned that the larger one is easier to remove, i will buy as well to see.
Honestly, there is allot of tools in your kitchen cupboards you can use. I use different Tupperware products I had for years to move the stones in place. I also save allot of my old plastic covering from old paintings and cover the new ones as I work on it. I found that using all these tools takes the fun and challenges out of doing diamond paintings.
I need advice. I love using the mesh ruler. I have one that I used twice for 8 rows across and 40 rows long. The placement was perfect. However on the third row placement, it is approximately a millimeter off. I cannot work the ruler far enough to the left to make that one millimeter disappear. And I'm afraid the NEXT row may be one and 1/2 mm out of whack. Any suggestions?
This happens all the time to me. What I do is, when placing a new empty ruler down, I push it against the previous row until it is perfectly showing the symbols all the way up in order to keep the entire canvas uniform. She people will sacrifice one row by placing the first empty line over the last row placed in order to easily keep it from going off by any amount at all.
Yes, because the metal is so thin, it is bound to curve. I have found that if I place the ruler over the last row that was drilled, the rest tends to lay down better. I also sometimes will manually bend it a slight bit so that it will lay flat against the sticky canvas.
I did the exact same thing as you and got my ruler thing super late into the painting. I figured out if you just lay the ruler on top of the already placed diamonds it helps you get them all even. Also a tip from a newbie I learned if you lay the first row of the ruler over the last row of 8 rows you did, then all your diamonds will stay even with each other. I’ve learned amazon’s 5d paintings aren’t exactly stamped straight, cut straight, and diamonds can be super small or to big so it’s easier to line your ruler off that last row, lay it back down over the last row and continue on. You can actually easily lay the ruler back down over the diamonds so you can easily lay it over the diamonds towards the top of your painting where your ruler didn’t reach and all will be OCD heaven. Lol. I totally get it, I have horrid ocd and absolutely hate uneven rows, odd numbers, and it’s so bad I will count how many diamonds I need of what number/letter/symbols and will pick out that many diamonds to put in my tray. I cannot stand not knowing how many diamonds I have in my trays at all times. Therapy and meds are a joke so it’s just part of being obsessively obsessive. I already do a lot of the class a signs of ocd only mine is like one of those people you see on tv.
Thanks for the video, just started using mesh rulers. How do I prevent that deep line gap? Happened to me too. In your experience, is it better to go horizontally or vertically?
The only way I've found to avoid that gap is to push your ruler as close to the previous line as possible. As for vertical or horizontal, you will want to use whichever will fit your ruler the best all the way to the end so that you can utilize the full thing.
OMGGGGGG i tried the small one i bought cuz i started a small round painting to destress from the big one i just finished omg i LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE this thing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i ordered both sizes in the big one ... i got one so far from ebay im waiting on the one from Wish sometimes i never see items from wish and i get refunds all the time i often wonder if they just want the $$$$ and then refund it lol
So sorry for the late reply! I didn't get burritos for these comments 😫 I have these in my Etsy shop! www.etsy.com/listing/680421641/multi-placers-and-row-straighteners-for
@@debrascott8167 that is extremely bizarre. I have never heard of them asking for a bank statement before. I have been buying from them for years. Although recently, not so much. I am not sure if you can get this large one on Ali Express, but I know you can get the smaller ones there for sure.
I have them available in my shop now and they make a square one as well if you want to try that one out. www.etsy.com/DrillPenFrenzy/listing/723421622/mesh-rulers-for-round-and-square-diamond?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1581916228196
There really isn't anything you can do about the gaps. Some people will sprinkle extra fine glitter between the drills to give it more of a pop. That's a lot of work in my opinion though.
I need advice. I used the mesh ruler on my round diamond painting. It is 8 drills wide and maybe 40 long. The first two placements seem to line up perfectly, but when I lay the mesh down for the third row, it is approximately a millimeter off. I cannot move everything over enough to remedy that millimeter, and I'm afraid the NEXT set will be off even more. Any advice?
This happens all the time to me. What I do is, when placing a new empty ruler down, I push it against the previous row until it is perfectly showing the symbols all the way up in order to keep the entire canvas uniform. I want to be entered into drawing if not to late. Also is this available for square and round? could only find round What size and from where do you recommend
This is not the giveaway video. You will need to watch that particular video and follow the instructions in it 😉. Here you can find both rulers in my Etsy shop! www.etsy.com/DrillPenFrenzy/listing/723421622/mesh-rulers-for-round-and-square-diamond?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1581916228196
It can go either and sometimes it won't fit one way so trying the other way can be the fix. Different companies space their spots on the canvas in different measurements and 1 mm can be the biggest difference in the world.
Where did you get an 11" mesh ruler? None that I have found are that long. The link you give to the etsy site shows the largest round being 20 rows by 51 columns. My 8" is 65 columns. I would really like one that goes most of the way across the painting. Thank you. I enjoy your videos very much.
The ruler with 51 columns is the large wide ruler. The long one that is shown in the video is the large ruler. I just didn't count and give the number of columns, but the length of it instead in the description.
Here is the link for you. Ruler: www.etsy.com/DrillPenFrenzy/listing/723421622/mesh-rulers-for-round-and-square-diamond?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1581916228196
have you got a link for the longer one ? i see it on your amazon listing for supplies for 6.00 ? is that the cuz that's the one i got but yours look so much longer ? is this a different one than the one listed ?
These rulers are consumable, unfortunately. Once it starts to rip it is best to replace it with a new one. There are no other materials that they are made in. Strangly though, the square rulers are made in a much thicker metal material. I can see why now that I think of it. Because the round rulers have holes for every single drill, they have to be placed very close together making the metal area very thin. The square rulers only have holes in a plus design grid so they are able to make them much thicker.
@DPbyDoni I have rulers from 2 different companies. First part of grids line up great but as I move along the ruler, the symbols start getting covered up. Not aligned. What am I doing wrong? Please.😢
It sounds like you don't have the correct sized ruler for your canvas. If you go to the listing in my shop and read the description, it will tell you exactly how to figure out what size ruler you need for that canvas. I also have a link to my video that shows you how to do the measuring in that description. Here is the link for the ruler listing. drillpenfrenzy.etsy.com/listing/723421622
I used the large round ruler that is in my shop. If you click my link in the description box you will see the listing. One of the photos shows you how to find the size of your canvas.
@@aprilalfred2151 I have found that I use the 141 the most. I do a lot of Diamond Art Club canvases though and that is the size to use for theirs. I hope the 140 works for the canvas you are doing!
I see there is 2 sizes … 140mm and 141mm …...which should I pick ? I definitely am getting one but I have a coupon for ebay and they have them there too
You have to measure the canvas you are going to uss it on to determine which one. The link above to this ruler tells you how to figure out which you need.
An a4 light pad would be what you are looking for if you don't want to invest a larger amount on it. I have a couple that I recommend on my Amazon page.
I used to prefer squares when I first started, but I now prefer the rounds because it goes much faster. I spend way too much time straightening the squares when I do those. They aren't supposed to have gaps, but that is a hard one to find where there is no gaps at all. I am going to try out the newer DAC kits because I hear they are a dream to work with.
Corina Henry some canvases are printed not so perfect. Especially if you get them from places like amazon and wish. I’ve learned to just put the first row of the ruler back over the last row of diamonds and then continue on and that ensures all the diamonds are even. Sometimes it looks like the ruler is covering half of the symbol and you’re on the wrong symbol but I know I’m on that row and just keep going and in the end it works itself out. Wish I could post pictures to show you what I mean.
@@MrsLolaLou I just reread your fist comment and I misunderstood what you were saying. You meant the very first time it is put down with no diamonds on the canvas, correct?
I know this was an old comment, but if you still want to see the ruler placed down on a fresh diamond painting, I have that video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h5USogziq7A.html
