Thanks! Very helpful. I soaked a paper towel and wrapped it around my organic store bought ginger and turmeric and put them in a ziplock bag with tiny holes and put them in a dark place for a week and it sprouted. Then I planted them. The sprouting tip I got from another gardener. 💚thank you again from your tips!

I just came across your channel and now I find myself binge watching all your videos. NEW SUBIE... I don't know how it is that you don't have over a mill subscribers. I love your channel, your videos are very educational, short, sweet but straight to the point... full of valuable information, just exactly what I've been looking for... and the best part no interruptions. Angela, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge, your garden is beautiful. I don't know if you've done a garden tour... haven't gone through all your videos yet, but if you haven't done one, I'd like to make a request for one 😉. Again thank you.

The baby ginger has the prettiest pink color! I cook with ginger pretty often, but the rhizome tends to shrivel up before I can use it all. So, I scrape the skin off, slice the ginger, put it in a glass jar with enough vodka to cover, and store it in the refrigerator. It stays good for months and the ginger-flavored vodka can be added to the recipe. If you cook a lot of Chinese recipes, you probably have pale, dry sherry or Xiaoshing wine on hand. You can use either of those instead of vodka.

Another great video. I grew ginger last year when I lived in much hotter climate and am going to try it attempting to give it a try here in zone 6a. Last year I had so much and did not have a dehydrator but read I could keep it in a jar of vodka in the refrigerator. It's still looking great and now that I do have a dehydrator I need to get at it. Thanks for your great tips.

Hi Angela, I don’t seem to have much luck with sprouting (or getting the shoots to come up) my ginger despite the fact that I’ve done everything right, from getting good quality ginger (all my ginger initially have great nodules), loose soil, placed in warm sunny spots, etc I’ve also tried different methods and ways from other RU-vid gardeners - planted my ginger outdoors in late Sep (first month of Spring here, zone 11a-b) which gets the morning sun but shielded from the afternoon sun, but nothing’s come up. Others have just dried, or rotted and died when I dug them out to check. 😞 So worrying! 😣 I’m following your video tips now (and Rob Bob Aquaponics), we’ll see what happens! Any additional tips and advice from you would be appreciated! Thanks so much and this was a great resource! 👍😊

Thanks Angela for this ginger video 👍 . One query : ginger being a root crop , isn't fish emulsion 5-1-1 high nitrogen for it ? Wouldn't morbloom 0-10-10 be a better choice or may be a mix of both ?
@GrowingInTheGarden
@GrowingInTheGarden 3 года назад
You're probably right. Usually if they soil is good you don't need to feed it. If it's not growing a little fish emulsion could get it growing and encourage some growth in the leaves.
