Thanks for your video. I've recently become very interested in this wonderful, renewable, sustainable resource. I've been fortunate enough to find a gentleman who was trying to get rid of a huge clump of clumping large-timber bamboo. I hauled 2 full pickup loads to our property and in just under 2 months, we've got shoots started that are as tall as us already! We're so happy that it was saved & not destroyed. I want to propagate this bamboo into at least a full acre on my property and I'm even considering buying some more land to expand the crop. 1 acre of bamboo produces about 30% more oxygen than an acre of native American trees such as pine, etc...

if you arrange in long rows of bamboo, it creates a beautiful scenery. It is such a practical and useful plant, hard to imagine farm life or self-sufficiency without it.

Actually a matured bamboo is better than wood,more sustainable product uses very less resources than woods,it take max 5yrs to be of superior quality,I hv seen them used in making houses and they last for few decades actually,u can make furniture too.

I have clumping bamboo in Tampa Fl, in 1yr this got huge- I just trimmed about 5 ft off it, it’s still 15 to 20 ft high. I’d like to see more on planting/ cloning. I want to go pots and ground too. Should I do Black cow and organic soils to start? Please have an answer - I’m lost. I have shoots in a garbage can filled with water. I just did it 7/23/20.

would it also work if you just laid the bamboo on the ground and simply covered it, without cutting off the nodes? you would have a whole straight line of new plants, right? at least where leaves are growing out, of course..

@@liewszeyiung4582 I'm not experienced in a commercial approach, but I have seen farms with many hectares of bamboo plantations. There are many things to consider, for example, in the farm I visited they made the mistake of planting the bamboo too close, which they regretted 5 years later once the bamboo grew. So I would advise to look for some guidance from experienced producers.

So do i need to plant the whole 70 feet of bamboo plants in a row? Or do i just plant a few for say 10 feet and the rest will will grow by themselves to cover the remaining 60 feet? Thank you
@TheVedicWayChannel
@TheVedicWayChannel 6 лет назад
Hello. You would need to see how much space each plant takes, and then if each one it lets say 6 feet, then you need to plant them 3-6 feet apart for a very tight hedge. Or 6-12 feet apart for a partial cover. So need to see the plant that you are interested in, in full maturity so that you get an idea. So you would need in between 25-50 plants. Hare Kṛṣṇa!

OH yeah, it's for real and the thorns are so sharp which is why everyone cuts off bamboo before they grow big. Now we have little or no bamboos in our area. The thorns grow on to become branches and are so sturdy that they are used as ladders here.

My friend has a type of bamboo that runs. It is as black as cast iron, very beautiful. It's great for crafting, strong, springy, light, better than carbon fiber. I'd like to propagate it, but they tell me not to, because it runs. Can I grow it in a pot? Is there a clumper variety with the same strong and flexible properties? Thank you for this video.

You need a bamboo saw. That thing is no good. A bamboo saw has very fine sharp teeth, its also very thin metal. Gets through a bamboo pole in three or four strokes. They use them in China for harvesting and also in the construction industry for cutting poles to size for scaffolding on high rises buildings. Very cheap, I have about six or seven of them. They don't last long, I go through about three blades a season. The bamboo saw prevents any splintering, cuts very clean right through to the end, as the metal is so thin you also don't get fine cracks, just straight through like butter.
