Thank you Gracy, I am just about to plant my dahlias, so this is really helpful, and the part too about marking the spot with a label, or just some different coloured compost.
Sometimes slugs like to eat them; or they rot if the soil is too wet. Best is to sometimes start them indoors in the tray or pot in april/may. Then plant them outdoors once they have a sprout and have roots.
30% of my Farmer Gracy bulbs did not germinate the first year, 70% for this year, and this does not come from my soil because I have bulbs that have been in the ground for 20 years and are still flowering... I do not recommend farmer gracey....it's disposable
