Oookkk.... you gave wonderful advise & you've talked me into trying to grow mums, once again. I've been attempting it for decades, with failures every time. I live in zone 5, and have always taken my spent mums into the garage over winter but they never have revived. I was just left with a dead crunchy plant in a pot. Many thanks to you! This was a very pleasant video! You're very good at presentations, hope to see more from you!

You could overwinter them indoors and plant in early spring. I'm in Missouri and going to try it this way this since they aren't in the ground now.

Thank you for this! I’m in Erie, PA. We are having an outdoor wedding in our backyard for our daughter on October 17th. We have bought 16 large mums from roadside stands and are trying to keep them nice for the wedding. I think we will definitely plant some now!

Thank you so much for your advice!! This is the 1st year I've have the opportunity to plant my Mum's given the ground space I now have available. 😊 I just have one question, and I'm hoping I'm not to late in the game to reap the benefits of my Mum's coming back in the Spring, and that is what is the latest they can go into the ground without it being too late in the season? I'm JUST getting ready to plant them & I'm hoping with the unreasonably warmer weather here in Maryland I'm not too late!! Do I stand a chance to have blooms in the Spring season planting them this late in November? I'm hoping our late "Indian summer" like weather with allow them to take root! THANK YOU so much in advance to anyone who may be able to give me a heads uP. 🤗 HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone!! 🦃🍛🙏

My Dad lives in Belington WV. WAY, WAY uP in the mountains. I gave my Stepmom a beautiful Mum for Mother's day several years ago and it has QUADRUPLED in size!! 😲💥😁 It's absolutely GORGEOUS!! I'm pretty sure if you get them into the ground in a nice SUNNY area you'll have the same luck. 😊 If it helps any, we planted her Mum in a dryer almost sandy soil and it has just plummeted into this amazingly beautiful plant with an abundance of colorful flowering buds. 😁

Can we keep them in the pot for the next season, will they grow back.

Yes I find them in the trash at the cemetery in Dec. after they haven’t had water and die and was put out for All Saints Day. They get thrown away by the caretaker because they are only planted in peat moss and blow all over the grounds. I bring them home if they have a little bit of green and I cut them all the way back and repot in soil with a dose of fertilizer and when spring comes they will put out new growth and usually will bloom in the spring time but if they don’t bloom then, they will bloom in the fall. Free plants!😮

I planted mums last year and nurtured them back and they reached about 6 inches high. When my son cut my grass yesterday he mistakenly cut my four plants down flat to the ground (crying). Will they grow back?

I buy Belgium mums from a local nursery. In order for them not to flop over when they do bloom, they must be cut at least in half, some time before July 1. So cutting them back is a necessity to strengthen the stems and shorten the Mum, so it stays sturdy. So, depends when your son cut them down. If it was after July 4, when the final blooms had formed, probably no blooms. If it was before the end of June, early July, there’s a good chance they will flower.
