Welcome to FretDojo LIVE! In this jazz guitar video tutorial I'm going to show you how to play a jazz guitar solo - with only 5 notes!
This is an example of how much you can do creatively with a small amount of material in your jazz guitar improvisations.
Make sure you subscribe to my RU-vid channel to be advised when future live sessions and videos will be happening!
Happy woodshedding!

I like that,,, it has a HIP sound,...now play it from the D maj pentatonic scale, or any position to include the hybrid Maj Min blues & Penta scales.

Excellent take on keeping things simple and putting the focus on thinking inventively rather than getting caught in all the theory etc. And of course your example brings to ear Kenny Burrell’s Midnight Blue :) Thank you!!!

Yes Barry that 1 note is a D and the chord progression is based on Summertime in Dm.

great....btw ,is the backing track created to be played with the d minor scale? or can you play a b minor scale with it,,,never understood that concept.
@gregorourke1
@gregorourke1 3 года назад
Backing track is same chord changes to summertime in Dm - so any Dm scale will work or F Major scales will work ok too. B Minor scales have an F# in it which will clash a bit with the F natural in Dm scale so not the best choice.
