Jonathan is joined by Rosey from Next Gen Poker to discuss a poker hand that Rosey played at the Texas Card House in Dallas.
The hand starts with Rosey deciding to squeeze from the big blind with ace-king offsuit against an opener and caller from the small blind.
Rosey tries to represent a strong over pair to the board as he bluffs into both opponent’s on the flop and then decides to jam on the turn with just ace high.
Jonathan talks about how you should be careful about continuation betting when you are out of position in multiway pots, especially in Texas where the players do not like to fold!
Next Gen Poker are making a huge name for themselves in the poker world and are quickly becoming recognized across all platforms. Their biggest being TikTok where they have over 250,000 followers!
Jonathan Little analyzes live poker hands from TV poker shows such as Poker After Dark, Hustler Casino Live, The Lodge Poker Club & PokerGO. He also analyzes popular poker vloggers such as Rampage Poker, Brad Owen, Jaman Burton, Ashley Sleeth, Wolfgang Poker and others!
You will also find many poker hands on this channel that contain some of the biggest names in the poker world such as; Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Doug Polk, Garrett Adelstein, Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan, Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates, Fedor Holz & many more!

What type of image do you have at the poker table and how do you use that to your advantage?
@nhnhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
@nhnhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Год назад
Godly image when I’m running hot. I use this to 3/4 bet bluff at a higher frequency (depending on the raiser because a lot of 2/5 players call every three bet). Also use this image to c bet flop at high frequency (prints money because 2/5 players generally have too wide of a range (lots of junk) and do not call close to MDF.

Jonathan, you do not only give out the most informative and logical poker content available. You are also the most entertaining poker personality on RU-vid. Also I love how you always ask basic questions on your RU-vid feed with a free month of poker coaching for a random commenter. Seeing that forces me to cement the basic, foundational principles. Which is the key for progressing at poker. Thank you!

I don’t know, I’m a semi tight player & I agree with your thoughts on being tight & using your image to your advantage. However, I think I would make this all in call with any pair due to the texture of the board & the shove would seem off to me. I’m still new & learning & maybe my view is way off! Lol. Great video, I keep learning more & more as I play along. Thanks for the vids & content!

There is no way this kid has a nitty image. His vlog viewers might think so, but some 25 year old with a purple shirt and a trendy haircut in a 2-5 game in Texas is just not going to get big folds. I'm not saying the bluff here was bad. But, I am saying that in games where you just have it every time and get paid off every time, you should be under-bluffing. In the future when he ends up in harder games, he won't be able to play as straightforward and will need some balance, but for this game, he can literally just have it every time.

Your opponents range in that seat calling the 3 bet could easily have pocket Q's....AQs...77....and in all likelihood will have one of those hands. He isn't going to call $100+ bet with A9. If he did have a pocket pair 99, 10,10, JJ etc...he's likely to fear any flop, and shove on your 3-bet. It's a terrible video

Great play. I learn so much from these videos. Keep 'em coming. Here's what I don't get, though. Wouldn't somebody who had the nuts bet for value here? By shoving you would be losing out on a call. So it seems like a bluff to me. It's not like you're saying "I have it!", it's like you're saying "I have something and it's going to cost you a lot to see it". Obviously you guys know what you're doing. So many factors to consider.

@johnnyboychess
@johnnyboychess Год назад

Really I would say this is just playing the hand aggressively, which has no skill displayed and could be done with any hand. I had so many losses with AK I was in despair, so I just plonked it in my bluffing range, and now call it a complete bluffing hand. I open BIG (pot size for me) then continue or check (toss a coin). But I play to allow myself to get away from it if necessary. I don't think just committing everything and hoping for the best is necessarily the skillful method for winners.

Honestly, I don't think image played any role in this particular hand. I think you had one stubborn customer how maybe was floating with K10 s or K j s or whatever and just gave up on the turn. They might not even have been too afraid of the queen - in fact they might have been tempted to bluff with it but once you jam, well the hand is over. Image would matter if, say, they folded a queen there or an A 7. Then I would say his image paid off but more than likely villain just had nothing. Most of the time people just play their own nature. Splashy players play splashy, tight players play tight, goofy players play goofy it's more about that then hero's image.
@philip851
@philip851 Год назад
Exactly.. on that occasion the other player had nothing, maybe even AK himself. 90% of the time he's been calling with a set or AQs. Let me say it like this...in an online tourney with buy ins up to about $22 they're going to have something and bust you out. Only in higher buy in tourneys (explicitly no Sats to a seat) are you going to get a fold here.

This hand was the perfect example of top poker play tips, that do not work online...and will ensure you end up penniless. It's just such a bad play. Ok you've put your opponent on pocket pairs. The majority of the time online you're going to be running into QQ, KQ,AQ, Q,10, QJ, 77,44,22 and your pushing your whole stack over to them.. It may indeed be optimal play for bluffing AK when it misses...but save your bankroll and don't make this play folks.
