*NOTE : If you have any additional tips or potential good plays against tenpais, leave them in the comments below so we can help each other out! :) For example : The samsara negation works in Main phase 1! even while tenpais have their fieldspell out!

D-Barrier works against Sangen Summoning because it's a lingering effect applying "continuously" like Skill Drain hence not an "activated effect". Try to use it in BP so they don't go for Promethean Zealantis OTK, while chaining it against a Black Rose Dragon is devastating for them because they lost 2 names and the only way to extend is the Quick play.

I like battle fader as a tech card ,which is searchable with nightmare pain. And it’s a extra body for your unchained plays. But if the opponent is able to get his synchro 10 out in the main phase, it’s game over.

I would make a deal with Terror to always be in my hand along with Throne or Gates in a heartbeat. What I really disliked is Shyama been glued to my hand every since AgOv (from my Unchained days) and even now that I stopped running it I get Escape instead. Best dog Sharvara is always welcome though.
@TrinityYGO
@TrinityYGO 3 месяца назад
@@babrad i also would take the deal! Having nightmare throne basically makes terror incarnate a lot less devastating! It’s only not that beneficial because in the end you want to special summon terror from the deck so you ultimately end on one less card in hand BUT if i could have throne in every opening hand for that? I’d like that! And i once again agree on the unchained cards.. somehow the trap is way more often in my starting hand than the best doggy 😵

Personally i believe the Yubel VS Tenpai matchup is very rewarding for the player who studied it despite seeming skillless. I've been on both sides and unless the Tenpai hand is given by the Egyptian Gods tailormade for the specific Yubel board they face, the better player WILL win. I tested Ultimate Nightmare exclusively for Tenpai (of course dropped it later entirely). This and Protector are the only Yubel monsters with removal, and I won 2 games specifically because at the end of the Damage Step they get rid of the bodies making Chundra useless since its summon happens at the start of damage step where they cant quick synchro. Hilarious interaction but unfortunately not worth the brick. Moonlight can be countered by Throne, but Samurai Destroyer is very annoying to deal with (duel links flashbacks). Even if they stay in-engine though, Bident can pop Pain/Throne, then new Dragion will remove the Yubel for OG Trident OTK that plays around Throne. For this reason I believe the matchup is only favorable for Yubel only against bad Tenpai players. Unless you play Paleo or Zeus, Roar is always better than Waboku because preventing attack declarations stops them from getting extra bodies. Still totally agree with the final list playing neither, D-Barrier is enough. But a big note here: Use D-Barrier during battle phase so they don't commit into a Promethean Zealantis OTK line. Also remember that if they make Black Rose to boardwipe under their Field Spell that makes BRD unaffected, D-Barrier will STILL NEGATE it because it works like Skill Drain continuously applying a lingering effect. This makes them effectively waste their normal + chundra so the only way they can extend is with the quickplay meaning they have a 3 card combo (very unlikely with only 15 cards, while they need to be different cards) About the replay now, since you weren't digging for CBTG/Crossout imo you shouldn't have activated Prosp. Your hand already had Yama play + Spirit into OG access so you could do just that and depending on your gut feeling either go for the OTK or do the full combo then Prosp for 6 to guarantee the game. What I really liked is that you started testing Knightmare Phoenix. It's so good going into boards. If you have Throne, Pain or Gates opening Terror means nothing. Instead of Throne going directly for Squirmer, you could just pop Spirit from deck to get Yubel on the field, Muck for Spirit to get Pain since you are going for Gryphon anyway, then Pain would allow you to get the +1 body from Throne because you discarded Terror (for muck, while recovering 2nd Gates with Gates secret effect) establishing Varudras + Gryphon + Rage/Chamber. Personally, I would go a step further after that and also have a defense position fiend monster on the board so that Muck can protect against Lightning Storm forcing them to also need Droplet to out Gryphon, because Sharvara doesn't work in the Battle Phase and a very common way to out this is CL1 Quickplay CL2 Droplet sending the quickplay instantly invalidating your entire setup: Sharvara can't activate, Rage revived by Chamber can't activate, they have to attack Muck and you to tribute Gryphon then attack and destroy Muck so that -Rage- EDIT: Yama can revive Gryphon (if they droplet for 2 destroying muck first then Gryphon allows them to avoid this, then Rage is 1800 so they complete the 3 attack requirement with the small dragons and summon either Meteorburst, Moonlight or big Dragions and freely OTK) My handtrap lineup changed from Veiler/Nib to Ogre/Crow specifically for Tenpai because under Shifter (that cooks Ogre/Crow) they can't OTK, while I find the Snake matchup so favorable I can sacrifice the Veiler/Nib for a less optimal handtrap. This change also made my Voiceless matchup a lot better where you can struggle going second if the VV player knows where to hit the deck (the removal by the trap and ritual Sauravis on Yama hurt quite a bit, particularly the combo variant)

If both hands and skill levels are on equal footing - then the better player will win, I agree. Tenpais just have the ability to create games where you can’t do anything against their hand. That’s what I find frustrating. It doesn’t matter how good you are if the tenpai player has droplet/lightning storm, handtraps and fieldspell.. the amount of times I saw hands like that from tenpai is scary. And while you’re technically right regarding the prosp play - I knew that his hand didn’t had any high impact boardbreaker and he only handtrapped me once turn 1. His plays basically told me everything I had to know about his hand but the drawn card for his turn (potentially) So I wanted to scout for a possible drawn handtrap and in that situation : he didn’t had anything. So I wasn’t concerned about going for an OTK. I knew that I win regardless and if I only draw one extender - it’s 100% sealed. He could’ve drawn the best card in that situation and still would’ve lost. I don’t have to push for an otk if I I win anyways in the next turn BUT : you’re right. Technically I could’ve gone for an OTK but I decided to play it safe. I don’t think going for the OTK would be wrong but I also don’t think it was wrong the way I did it! And yeah I really like the phoenix, I tested it because of you and so far : it’s great! I’m also playing around with different handtraps. Especially veiler feels a bit weak sometimes because of tenpai and talents. And of course : thanks again for all your input as always! I appreciate it!

One thing i 100% agree with is that while terror incarnate is a dead card in hand : there are a lot of ways and card combinations that makes it okay to draw it! That’s one thing i 100% did wrong in the replays! In the end, it didn’t really mattered since I knew i can achieve the board i wanted to without ever going into terror(i think that’s one reason why I ignored it a bit) - but in other situations this slight misstep can get punished quite a bit.

@@TrinityYGO It hasn't happened to me yet so i either am extremely lucky or face outdated tenpai lists (typically they have LS/Droplet then full handtraps with Crossout and not stuff like TTT/Raigeki/Shifter) My comment about Prosp is that it wasn't needed. I have a bad habit of playing with "leftovers" so the opponent doesn't know my topdeck in order to force some misplays. And from what I see (without re-creating the gamestate then playing it) I believe Prosp wasn't needed. I understand digging to make the play even more optimal is equally valid, just saying my preference. Tenpai is one of those decks I hate giving them an extra turn because of blowouts, especially when the opponent can play literally anything so i have to be guessing instead of knowing almost for sure what the top deck might be (this is for tier 0 or very narrow formats) Anyway, personally I'm a bit more interested in Voiceless matchup instead of Snakes or the Mirror, can't wait for more content. I literally suggested your channel to 2 friends that picked up Yubel today. Keep up the amazing work (but of course don't burn yourself out!!) Good night!!

One option that you can use is Veidos on them. Pop their Field spell and if they try to get rid of it while you have an established board with a Yubel, it nukes the field and you plus off it. Strictly a side deck card but something I thought worth mentioning. I don't know how good it is because I've yet to use it online or at my locals but it's there

i think its good against tenpai, the problem is : its ONLY really good against them, cards like ghost ogre fit in the same niche but still have some usage against other decks. but : i still too have to see it in action so maybe its better than i think :)
@CiCiCrown9886
@CiCiCrown9886 3 месяца назад
@@TrinityYGO Yeah. It boils down to what you really want. Ogre does 2 more things over what Veidos shares with it (popping the field spell). He does apply pressure on your opponent because they can’t get rid of without staring down a Yubel whether that be Base or Terror. But they also don’t want to keep it because your Yubel’s can just crash into for 2800 and finish them off that way as well. I’m gonna try to find someone to be my guinea pig and see what the better option is. The one problem I have is that you wanna see him in your opening hand so that’s a 3 of but he bricks if your opponent bricks and has no field spell so you’d want it at 1 in that case since you are already running Terror and worst case is you have Terror and Veidos in hand.

@TrinityYGO
@TrinityYGO 3 месяца назад
I’m happy that the deck is working for you! And I think it’s fine to go over 40 :) While 40 is also fine, Yubel has a few cards you don’t want to see that often (terror incarnate, the unchained trap) so if you bump up the number of good cards in your deck to say.. 42-45? It’s not that bad since it means you likely won’t see the "bad draws” that often! It also has downsides to run over 40 but i think it’s okay overall, so ; if you have cards you want to try to go over 40 with, just test it! :)

Yubels) and lots of options for non-engine (TTT, Pot of Prosperity, Set Rotation, etc) it seems like the mathematically right choice, no? It seems like you could easily make a very consistent and less bricky Yubel deck by going 3x on all engine cards and adding the aforementioned non-engine?

How to deal with Samurai destroyer?
@TrinityYGO
@TrinityYGO 3 месяца назад
That’s really dependent on the plays you have! It’s important to know that samurai destroyer isn’t a fire dragon so it won’t benefit from the main dragons effects and they HAVE to go into it before locking themselves into dragons - he’s a little more predictable! A good thing is to just throw a imperm at him or build a board that isn’t reliant on just 1 Yubel! If you have 2 yubels on the field or other problem monsters on top of that (for example as seen in the video, knightmare gryphon!) The samurai destroyer gets a lot weaker!

the first game wasn't really a tip showcase. it was basically both of you died to 1 hand trap and if you build a board you won. I do agree that Tenpai isn't an auto lose against Yubel due to the ascended Dragion and their synchro tool box. also this showcase only really matters if Yubel players start playing Gryphon which most in the TCG are not, even in the side deck. so that's a discussion in itself should TCG list include it to counter Tenpai or is it even needed to counter it. I personally don't think it's needed since the deck can play around board breakers very easily if we adjust the combo to include giving them Geist or playing Shyama and go for the Wave High King Caeser line and summon it in Def to play around cards like lightning storm. by itself it stops basically the entire otk line. suggesting Waboku is not good. it still allows them to beat over your board and destroy your cards with ascended.
@TrinityYGO
@TrinityYGO 3 месяца назад
Yes but I never said the replay is something specific. I told in the video that tenpais can be fragile and I wanted to show that. Before I showed the replay I wanted to explain what a good line against tenpais is, the replay had the whole purpose to show that it can be effective. it just was a better way to visualize what I was about to say. And I saw a few people playing the gryphon but even if they don’t - how does it matter? The gryphon is a good card so.. just build your own opinion and play it if you want. And if you don’t - that’s also fine :) I’m not saying stuff out of thin air, I tested the gryphon in practice and I don’t build my videos around stuff that only other people play. That the video doesn’t matter in your opinion just because not everyone is on gryphon is weird for me. I make the videos because I test them myself and believe the stuff in it is valid to play. If I think something is good why would i not care about it just because others aren’t playing it? It’s not wrong to think about stuff and maybe then do things that others aren’t doing. Test the gryphon/sharvara/yama line yourself against tenpais. You will see that I don’t lie. And I really disagree on the Grindr line in combination with Caesar. While I kinda like Grindr golem, that combo dies to one single droplet. I don’t think that combo line is effective at all against them. It only plays around lightning storm but hard loses to a lot of stuf - even talents/ change of heart etc. The reason I like the gryphon line is that it plays around every boardbreaker if you keep sharvara in hand and Yama in the GY. It’s basically what unchained did back then when they gryphon locked. I included waboku because it’s in the same category of cards that are good against them - lingering floodgates I also had superpoly there but I would never suggest you siding that against tenpais - those are examples. In the video I even said that D-Barrier is by far the best out of them to side. I wanted to show that it’s safer to play cards LIKE that. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it, even if I really disagree with a few things
@Gilgamesh-em6ru
@Gilgamesh-em6ru 3 месяца назад
@@TrinityYGO The gryphon line loses just as hard against Droplet as the D/D/D line. the Tenpai player simply needs to be smart and droplet in the battle phase so you can't sharvara pop it, then yama revive it. walk over Muckracker chundra summon last name, synchro into biden dragion revive the 2 dragons and now any of them except Dragion can walk over gryphon and if you revive Biden walks over it again then they OTK. the main reason it "worked" for unchained back in the day is because it was basically used as a battle fader if the opponent tried to walk over it and play in M2. guess what Tenpai doesn't need to wait for next turn to OTK. they do it in the same Battle phase. what I said wasn't weird. not everyone is on the Gryphon package. people are trying out their own techs and the supepoly variant might not have enough room for it so for most people the gryphon line to beat tenpai literally doesn't matter to them. this video doesn't show any in combo ways to beat tenpai other than out play them. Including bad cards as techs is just horrible. especially when it's a card that is literally useless in every other matchup. it's just trolling anyone that actually takes that advice seriously.

@@Gilgamesh-em6ru if they run over muck, you can just resummon Yubel with Yama and then they can’t run over gryphon. - Most of the times like in my regional yesterday where I faced tenpai, gryphon isn’t alone on the field. If you have only one live handtrap, they also just lose to that. It doesn’t lose to droplet alone. They need a good hand with access to multiple body’s, droplet, and for you not having any handtrap/interruption in addition to that. If they have kashtira cards (what many people are playing currently) they are also completely rendered useless. And I didn’t said it was weird that you said certain cards are not good to recommend : i AGREE with you. I just wanted to show you that I was showing EXAMPLES of type of cards that are good - lingering floodgates. I only recommended D-Barrier. I never said "side waboku” I included it for examples. I was saying it’s weird that you said the video doesn’t matter just because I play something, others don’t(even tho I saw a lot of people playing that) Which isn’t a good mentality to have. And again : the match I showed was just to show in practice what I was about to say.. I just could’ve done the same combo in a test hand. I just wanted to show the gryphon, nothing more. I never stated the match is something special. : the tenpai player scooped game 3 to the gryphon before doing anything, that’s why I didn’t show the rest because.. there isn’t something to show. I just thought it would be cooler to show it in a live match instead of doing it alone with a test hand.
