How to equalise the volume of all your MP3 files so that you do not need to keep changing the volume for each track. Demonstration of how to use MP3Gain to change the volume of all your MP3 files so that they play at the same volume. Video also shows how information is stored in the MP3 tags so that you can undo the changes if required.

First select music file,then scroll down to properties,then uncheck (read only)this will allow mp3 to modify file,works everytime.

Hi there, I have a question: When I do try to analyse, there's an error box that says "Can not open or modify - change file log" Do you have any solution regarding this? Also, does it have an impact when tracking gain or not? Thanks in advance!

I haven't experienced this problem so I Googled and found this page ... scroll to the bottom of the discussion for a solution that worked ,., Options >>> Logs ... and then change the directory of the Error log and Change log files to a directory where you do have permission to write to the folder. forums.anandtech.com/threads/help-with-mp3-gain-exe.2137413/ There is some discussion about how the solution works but the next time you run MP3Gain the Error Log and Change log folders have changed back to the default .... you could also try: - change the permissions of the default folder and/or the files so that you can write to the folder / files or - try running the MP3Gain as admin Good luck ... I hope that you can fix the problem.

After finishing the "Track Gain" step, are the files automatically modified and ready to listen to? No need of further saving or anything?

Yes... after you have done the "Track Gain" step the MP3 files are ready to listen to with whatever media player you use.

whats a good gain to have besides 89.0db?

If you set the gain too low then you will need to set the volume of your amp too high which may introduce noise. If, on the other hand, you set the gain too high you run the risk of overloading the input to the amplifier and getting clipping which is another form of noise which will make the music unpleasant to listen to. The other problem is that you want MP3Gain to set the volume to a level which is similar to the other audio sources on your PC so that when you switch from your media player to, for example, a video being played in your browser you do not get either deafened or alternatively you can't hear it and you have to reach for the volume to turn the volume up. 89dB was the recommended value and I find this volume works well. Using the principle of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I have therefore left the normal volume at 89dB.

I used Mp3 Gain for so long. I want to know it there’s a similar app which just analyzes and add replay gain to file tag but does not change file volume. Thanks.

I am not sure that I understand .... when you add ReplayGain tag then that is going to change the volume because that's what ReplayGain does. I don't think that you can have ReplayGain and not change the volume.

@@Helpful-Stuff you’re right. Yet, Neutron Music Player does Replay Gain normalization and keeps files untouched. The only difference here is that the app saves volume data in a xml file without changing file’s metadata. The only way to give music metada volume normalization for any app you choose to play music is using an app like mp3 but music files won’t be untouched.

Hi, I have just downloaded MP3Gain onto my computer. Click the link sourceforge.net/projects/mp3gain/ and then click on the green download button. This should work :)

Hello: I have been using the MP3 Gain tool to equalize the volume in my songs or mp3 files within my music folder with very good success for quite some time. However lately when I attempt to use the MP3 Gain tool, I get an error message pop-up when I click on "Track Analysis" or "Track Gain", which reads as follows: "11 errors during processing. View error log? Yes or No". When I click on "Yes" to view the error log, another pop-up appears with a number of individual messages which read like: 7/16/2022 11:22:47 AM Error while analyzing: D:\Desktop\Music\All Alone Am I.mp3 is an MPEG Layer I file, not a layer III file or If you think this is incorrect, you can try enabling the No check for Layer I or II option 7/16/2022 11:22:48 AM Error while analyzing: D:\Desktop\Music\Jeanne Pruett - Satin Sheets 1973 (Country Music Greats).mp3 is an MPEG Layer I file, not a layer III file or 7/30/2022 12:50:39 PM Error while analyzing: Not enough samples in D:\Desktop\Music\Jeanne Pruett - Satin Sheets 1973 (Country Music Greats).mp3 to do analysis I never encountered this problem with the MP3 Gain tool until a few weeks ago and do not know why I'm receiving the error or what to do to correct it so that it does not appear agiain. Can you tell me what this means and how to fix the problem so that I can once again use the MP3 Gain tool to successfully equalize the volume in my songs within my music folder? Thanks.

I have no experience of the problem you have experienced, I did a quick Google and it looks like you aren't the only person to experience this problem. This discussion seems to have found a solution using foobar2000 and "Fix MP3 header". I hope this helps to fix the problem. hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,21007.0.html
