Thanks so much. It's be awesome if you ended with the full song straight up so we can practice playing along with you. Thrilled to be able to learn those little walks off D and C as a beginning player, liberating!

Brilliant! I have been struggling with the timing at the 3/8 and 4/8 parts for recording bass and drum machine. This helps greatly... thank you.

Excellent lesson, Jon! I bought the original album (yes album) back in the early 80's, which certainly shows my age. Angel from Montgomery was one of my favorite songs from this classic album. Thanks for the lesson!

there's not a bar of two you're just counting in double time. The song is at like 70bpm, that walk turnaround is a 1 % 2 % 3 - 4. Same thing for what you say is a 3/8 bar later, the chord is the 1 the walk is just & 2 & of the regular bar. I'm pretty sure it all works out square in four.

Thanks for this lesson, it helped me understand that weird timing at the end of each verse.

So glad it helped! I know it is weird but that’s what he played on this version. I would guess he just did it instinctually without even thinking about it. Keep up the great work!

@@jonmaclennan yup, I think it is kind of a dramatic pause which just came natural to JP. Does Bonnie Raitt’s version do the same thing? I will have to check.

I guess i’m just slow. I can’t tell how you are forming the G chord. It doesn’t look like what I know a G to block like. Can you help me out?
@jonmaclennan
@jonmaclennan 3 года назад
Sure. That’s because I am playing in a folk style tabbed out it would be 3x0003 with the fingers being 3x0004. So basically I am only using my 3rd and 4th fingers to play the G chord.
@Ione1916

Jon - do you have the chords for this? or the tab?

Hi Jon. What is that black ring on the sound hole? I'm assuming it's part of the pick-up system. If so, what's the name/brand/model etc. I'm looking to power up my older Taylor. Thanks!
@jonmaclennan
@jonmaclennan 3 года назад
Hey Bud! It's a feedback buster. Taylor makes a great pickup. Mine guitar is a Maton and has the Maton AP5 pro pickup, I use this guitar with the feedback buster to prevent any feedback when I turn it up loud. Glad to help, and thanks for watching!
