I just love these videos as a guitar player. You explain everything so well. Especially in the songs. You give people the tools to make it their own, while keeping true to the song.

...except that his counting isn't correct, per se.... he's counting eighth notes. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and......

It’s hard to even put into words how much I appreciate your content, the theory, the details, the little nuances, it’s all great. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this. I am more of a rock and roll guy but this song is what made me want to learn to play the guitar.

Hey Michael--you do such a great job explaining all the parts of a song--harmony, melody and rhythm--and how to weave them altogether. You also discuss the music as music--naming notes, keys and chord progressions; I get so tired of all the guitar instruction on RU-vid dumbed down to "put your finger on the seventh fret of the G string" without respecting the eagerness of the audience to know something beyond paint (or play) by numbers. I realize that social media is an attention game, and the no-theory+tab approach reigns--that this fantastic lesson has in five years only garnered 13k views is testament to that. But I just wanted to let you know that there are those of us out there eager for a higher level instruction, and you constantly provide that. Thanks

Some really great tools to spice up those simple chord progressions. Another great lesson. Thank you again for all your effort put forth in these lessons. Much appreciated.

Been a long time follower and just found this trying to figure out a way to do this song solo at gig where I was told "play the hits". PERFECT explanation of how to hit the key parts of the song simply.

This needs more than 8k views. Got into your channel with your John Prine video and love what you’re doing thanks for the great content 👍🏻

Always interesting, Michael. Simple yet complicated all at the same time. Like all the best songs. I do it at my own level and aspire to include more melodic ideas. Cheers

Good stuff, brother. I'm going to play this at an open mic on Monday with just an acoustic bass.I like it in E as well.

Just what I was looking for, no patience for the vids where they have to walk you thru chord fingering. Good stuff!

Hmmm, I’m a little confused. You say you like Bonnie Raitts version who plays it in E but with capo on second fret. So she’s playing the D chord to start song off. You are getting the lick you like without capo in key of E. Can you get same lick and sound that you like if you use capo 2nd fret and start off with a D chord but still sounding in key of E if that makes sense?

The theory was a little over my head but that's OK, makes me want to learn it. Still a beginner but really love this song. Thanks........

I watched your other video of Susan Tedeschi. I can see you like this song a lot, like I do. It's nice to see that passion for music in others. I too liked the Raitt version a little better. There seems to be so many little nuance notes Bonnie does that make it special. Still trying to figure out that flat 7 you talked about
