Hey tulok, I know negative comments boost the algorithm, but I wanted to put a positive one instead. Thanks for helping me when I’m stressed or sad, your videos have helped me for a long time now and I hope you have a great day!
I mean, funnily enough, history is one of the few classes we actually know for certain they have, taught by Doctor Oobleck, who is inarguably the best character.
I was literally thinking a few days ago would Blake be an arcane trickster or an echo knight. I'm so glad this video confirmed which she would be one of the two
Would have gone with rogue myslef, seems more appropriate for some reason (probably the black clothing and acrobatics). Kinda funny though, considering she isn't actually stealthy (aside from that time she snuck up on torchwick in season 1) xp.
Tom Franck While she does have the moody attitude and tragic backstory that seems mandatory for rogues, she’s a lot more head on when it comes to actually fighting people so fighter works better mechanically.
@@jtroxler8 I feel like a mix of the two is actually the best fit: Fighter for straightforward martial prowess (and the more obvious "shadow clone" flavor, thanks to Echo Knight), Rogue for all of the stuff that makes Blake really hard to hit or pin down in combat. (Bonus action disengage, bonus action dash, uncanny dodge, and evasion cover like 90% of what Blake actually uses her semblance for, and Swashbuckler works as a more in-your-face Rogue.)
While the three fighting styles mentioned reflect the multiple ways Blake uses her weapon, I have a suggestion for people who want something that doesn't pressure them to favour one of those combat styles. The Mariner fighting style, from the Waterborne Adventures UA, gives +1 AC (along with climbing and swimming speeds) while in less than heavy armour. That makes Blake more mobile and even harder to hit, which feels fitting for her. Also, they DO learn history. Jaune failing at (military) history is one of the few lessons explicitly shown.
And she was born and raised on an island far away from human civilization, so it would make sense having that she maybe fought a few more sea monsters on the way to the mainland
Everytime you do a character from RWBY it's something brand new to me... speaking of new, that makes me think of the news! What about a build for Anderson Cooper?
Not really, cause you would have to change feylock to fiendlock at the very least because of the Megaton Fox in his stomach. (I know it's not really there and it's just where the seal is)
You never fail to make me smile, Tuolok. Your references and little jokes are just low-impact, joyful comments and your videos are well paced and fun. Keep being awesome.
There's the Khenra race in the plane shift Amonkhet for dog lovers, I'd typically consider those similar to unearthed arcana but understand if they don't meet the bar for use.
@@thesmashor4396 While true, I feel like he overstayed his welcome. Dude set on a journey to avenge his little sister, made it everyone's else problem, got Avdol shot in the head, Got his revenge on the the dude that killed his sister, and instead of going home, he continued to stick around provided nothing but a burden to the party. I mean really, what was his power? SWORD. So helpful.
I'm happy that I was 2/3 correct on what this build would be like. I was expecting the other class to be rogue, but the expectation subverting warlock was a pleasant surprise ^^
This is pretty awesome!! Not just the video, but your whole series in general is honestly a lot of fun. Keep it up!! (Also as a side, I need help with a Plague Knight build before Halloween and was curious if by rare chance you had ideas for that. Was thinking Arcane Trickster? Maybe Wild Mage Sorcerer?)
The letters for the titles are going to spell "thank you all" or something, culminating at the 200th episode. Also, congrats for nearly 200 episodes! I've been here since about episode 85
At the end of the video he put a lot of emphasis on B which could only mean Two things 1 A reference to the bumble bee ship Or 2 a hint at his next build Bartholomew Bailey "Barry" Benson from the bee movie HUZAHH
Hey, Tulok This was a fun build! My friends and I just did a RWBY oneshot with all your builds and it was super fun. Even without any rests Blake never went below half health.
Just in time! My group is fighting in the Olympics and one of the enemy teams is basically RWBY. I had the other 3 figured out, but couldn't build a Blake I liked. Now Team RWBL, the rock-band/monster-hunters are "combat ready".
Your videos are great. Lots of inspiration in them. Though I have been curious about how Royce mercury from gate series would look by you. Keep up the good work!!! .
Was expecting a Tabaxi, but I can see why you went this way. Plus, you got 9 lives which was not a goal, but it's still awesome. This is something I may actually like to play. Another great build as always
I personally wouldn't have gone with a Shifter. Aside from the cat ears, Blake is mostly human, and shifter is too animalistic in nature (even though the feline shifting feature is pretty accurate). I would've picked Half-Elf instead, as it is closer to human while still getting Darkvision.
Before the checklist: if you are counting swiftstride as a cat option, which is fair, you should also count longfang as a dog option. Also wildhunt technicly counts for both too, so... anyway here's the monthly request for a Magic the gathering build.
How can you say you want a canine race, right as you use a Shifter? Longtooth specifically says many of them have canine traits, and I feel Wildhunt would work too.
Yet another amazing build! Could get another clone or two if swapped beguiling influence for misty visions, just have the silent image be her, but still excellent!
I and a mate planned led a campaign with a few friends, and we'd actually included some characters which were half-way reference and halfway memeing on one of our players - We'd included Blake in there to troll one of them effectively. That had gotten me to trying to actually make a non-NPC, actually playable version of her though. Swiftstride Shifter with Inheritor background(since it worked better than noble proficiency-wise, or former one anyway), Ranger 12 Hunter Conclave, warlock 5 Hexblade and Rogue 3 Assassination(yeah, that one's more a maybe). One of the NPC variants(made with player rules) had a spin with Kensei monk. Ah, and of course, on each of them we used a whip feat out of several homebrew ones we use, cause whips need all the help they can get to actually be useful. So far only had one chance to play a lvl 5 version of her in a one-shot, 3 warlock, 1 ranger, 1 rogue, and it was... mediocre at level 5 when it comes to power. Was still fun though. False Life spell on free cast makes for sort of aura. Mirror Image spell was what I used for the clones. Oh yeah, my choice of fighting style was Close Quarters Shooter too. Hadn't though of the Echo Knight take, indeed an interesting one. GL on the Weiss video, Mate. Considering her glyphs do literally everything, yer gonna need it. :D
Good vid. There's no humanoid dog race in DND, but what about a divine being who transforms into a wolf and uses Calligraphy for all of her powers? Yes, the time has come for a build of Amaterasu from Okami.
There's nothing saying Unleash Incarnation is limited to once per Attack action. It just has a number of uses equal to Con mod so you can be dumb and expend all of them in a single turn if you want. Just something I wanna clear up before it becomes a problem later when determining effectiveness in builds.
@@marmato9332 the elf restrictions isn't mandatory. It says in SCAG "Restriction: Elves Only Only elves and half-elves can choose the bladesinger arcane tradition. In the world of Faerûn, elves closely guard the secrets of bladesinging. Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign. The restriction reflects the story of bladesingers in the Forgotten Realms, but it might not apply to your DM's setting or your DM's version of the Realms."
@@Straven93 True, though it wouldn't be too much of a stretch of the imagination to envision Weiss as a High Elf. With the Schnees being borderline aristocratic and viewing themselves with an air of superiority, High Elf is a good culture fit while also providing useful boosts to the INT stat.
@@Straven93 He can absolutely do whatever he wants, but aside from using Unearthed Arcana he always tries to make Adventurers League-legal builds. Then again he can do what he wants, Sephirot and Alucard definitely aren't Elves but he wanted to use some traits and feats of the Race so he did. Honestly I'm not an expert in RWBY and I know Weiss is aristocracy, but that doesn't mean she's an Elf. Could be a good excuse to make her an elf tho.
@@dracowolf3212 as do most of the races in 5e. My point is that there's an eldritch invocation going spare in the build, so why not double down on the dark vision. It doubles the range they already have, and now magical darkness is no problem. It's totally thematic for the faunus as it was their dark vision that let them overcome an invasion by a human army, who tried to ambush them during the night.
This is a negative comment! I'm so outraged you keep me entertained with your wholesome awesome content! I HATE that you give me good ideas for class combos to -steal- borrow in my campaigns and characters. You should be ashamed that you're one of my favorite content creators!! D:< -I love you-
Love RWBY builds. I always wait for those. Super creative. I also waited for Guts and other edgy characters, but I missed them. How were those builds going?
Thank you! Another person who wants an official canine playable race. As much fun as it is to play a homebrew race, not all dms are okay with that. Also, gnolls are demon hyenas so even if you tweak it to be a playable race, you face countless issues with trust. Just want a wolf, dog or fox race. Preferably one of the first two.
You are considering in doing Froppy?! COOL! I made a Froppy build a while ago. Mainly Grung Rogue/Warlock. I focused on giving her the powers of her quirk. Gave her the genie patreon (UA) for the stomach space to keep items and give her a private bath inside to stay hydrated. And the only way to make the tongue work was to make at least one rank of Sorcerer and take Sea Sorcery (UA). This way with Lightning Lure, you can pull target toward you from the range of Froppy tongue. I wonder what would be Tulok take on her though!
Welp, you finally added a character to the poll that got me to join the patreon. Too bad Akko has to compete with Tsu though, because no way Tsu's going to actually lose that poll.
Ah look I've never heard of this character before but I'm still watching it. I guess casting suggestion on people to watch your video is a pretty good strategy.
In all fairness to Tulok there are a lot of Smash bros characters and X-Men and he did finish the 6 original MCU Avengers and he is close to finishing the MCU Guardians and the Teen Titans. Overall I think he should be proud of the characters he has done and he should keep doing what he's doing.
Suggestion: Gene Kelly as Dr. Victor von Frankenstein from Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein. A Bard with a love of necromancy and Raise Dead, Revivify, and other spells like that.
So I don't like the idea of playing a warlock without a clear sense of who the patron is. For Ruby, it's fine because you can argue that it's Oz or the God of Light; either of those makes sense storywise to me. But for Blake, there's no clear patron, and her character arcs largely revolve around separating herself from what she felt tied down by (White Fang, Adam, etc) and embracing only what she wants to (Yang and Sun, her parents, etc). And to me personally, Blake has always felt most like a rogue/ranger multiclass thematically. As such, I just spent the last two hours trying to make a build with the new Fey Wanderer subclass from Tasha's before concluding that it just doesn't mechanically feel right with Hunter's Mark and psychic damage and stuff replacing the Warlock abilities. That said, there are a few things I would change about this build. First, for stats, I'd swap WIS and INT. 14 Wisdom gives Blake the ridiculously good hearing she deserves. How much do you think you would hear with ears the size of your fists? Besides, she only joined the shady organization because it was literally run by her dad at the time. INT is only 10 because while Blake loves to read, it's 90% smut. I want to start with 2 levels of Rogue. Blake may fight a lot, but did a lot more theft and sabotage in the White Fang than full-on combat. Rogue gives you proficiency in Thieves’ Tools, because how else are you supposed to get into a military radar compound? For skills, you get four because Rogues. Start with Deception to hide your race from the three people you share a room with for months, despite never doing anything without them ever. To boost your hearing and do those ears justice, pick up Perception. Take Persuasion because you literally led an army into battle on foreign ground. Finally, take either Investigation to deal with your genocidal ex-boyfriend’s terrorist organization or Stealth to sneak into anything from dust robberies to Irondaddy’s personal desk. The first expertise will go into Acrobatics. Cats may always land on their feet, but just looking at half the stunts Blake pulls makes my back hurt. For the other expertise, go with Persuasion. Every combat partner you’ve ever had in the history of ever has fallen in love with you. That’s more people in your harem than lost fights in seven volumes. It’s such a historically significant event that people simping for Blake ended the entire White Fang. Blake loves team tactics. Every volume Yang’s around, Blake ends a fight by either flanking something or throwing blondes at it. You know what goes well with flanking? Sneak attack. While the owlbear goes after your teammates, throw your sword through its back. Thieves’ Cant will come in handy getting to the rally where everyone’s trying to kill the humans except you and your monkey. Finally, Blake is fast. She’s so fast, in fact, that it looks like she’s dashing. At level two of Rogue, you can dash as a bonus action, or throw a clone out to disengage or dodge as your enemies go after your shadow. At level three, switch into fighter. Instead of archery, I would take either two-weapon fighting or dueling. Blake’s primary weapon has never been the gun. In earlier volumes, she often dual-wields, using her sheath as a cleaver, but recently, because animation, she mostly just uses the main sword part (now that’s a katana!). Dueling also works with a whip, sickle, or variant ballistic chain scythe, which looks like a pipe bomb in a tornado and probably feels like one too. Gambol Shroud is a very cool weapon. From here on, I’d follow your build, ending with Rogue 2 / Feyblade 6 / Echo 12. Overall, we trade second Indomitable, an ASI, 2 HP on average, and STR and CON saves for two skills, two Expertises, Thieves’ Tools, Thieves’ Cant, 1d6 Sneak Attack, Cunning Action, and DEX and INT saves. And if you count the bonus action disengage/dodge, we still have 9 lives by level 17. That all said, love the vid. You’re awesome, keep up the good work.
honestly if you simply replace one of the invocations with mask of many faces and the archery fighting style with dueling for a rapier, this would make a decant neo
I have watch some of the Tulok Live Streams. I would like seeing this Party. Scooby and Shaggy- The Scared Duo Catra-The Angry Cat Steven Universe- The Lovable Kid Yoda-The Old Master Yugi Muto-The Duelist
You have used a Planeshift race before (exactly once, but still) so there is one dog person race available as long as you use dog to refer to any sort of canine and not domestic dogs. Anyways I am referring to the Khenra from Planeshift: Amonkhet. So that works great so long as your dog person doesn't need a strong sense of smell or a bite attack, the two things dog people would typically be known for having, and basically just needs to have the "looks like a dog" part down.
There are also two Shifter subraces that make sense as caninefolk: Longtooth, which does the bite, and Wildhunt, which does the sensory stuff (or at least tracking stuff).
Another great use for the Echo Knight (possibly THE most on-brand person for it): Naruto Uzumaki (shadow clones). Ironically, he'll most likely also be a Warlock, since a great deal of his power comes from a literal demon living inside of him. I'd say this build is enough like what I'd expect for Naruto that it almost doesn't merit revisiting, but their fighting styles are so different that I imagine there will still be some significant differences. Edit: Challenge for the Uzumaki build- Hit the goals while also seeing what the maximum number of clones you can summon in one combat are. Naruto regularly summons hundreds of copies of himself, I don't think we'll get anywhere near that, but 6-10 is normal when he just wants some fodder to distract the enemy.
Honestly, this is one of those times where Eldritch Blast could be a really good fit. Make your Fighting Style one of the melee options, (id say Dueling is best, but TWF is also thematic), and use EB for your guns/range.
This is the most surprised I’ve been for the class combo, i thought there’d be dips in Monk or Rogue cause of the dexterous nature of Blake. But this does make sense
In all fairness, the Justice League, Avengers, and X-Men in particular are all massive groups that extend beyond the core members, but I think Tulok has builds for most of the first two's core teams. And I imagine that the missing members (I don't know of any in particular off the top of my head) may not have good combinations of classes to make a valid build. Edit: I checked, and the only person I can think of that's missing from the core members of the Justice League is Martian Manhunter, who does seem like he would be complicated. You could argue that Hawkman/Hawkgirl probably deserves consideration for that list, but it depends on which version of the Justice League you're talking about since they aren't as consistently on the roster as some others. And it seems like he's covered all of the Avengers as well as some of their secondary members. The X-Men are more notably missing, but that's a very chaotic group to even try to list a core team, and there are too many on the rotating roster to try and include them all in any specific amount of time.
at 2:44 Tulok states he wants History and Perception as his skills for 1st lvl Fighter he chooses History and Perception for his skills, however according to dnd5e.wikidot.com/shifter all shifters automatically have proficiency with the Perception skill due to the Keen Senses feature.
