I just really thematically like seeing Dante with a squad of Sang Guard, the issue is I ran this with a 1000pt army and it is more than half my points. So I only had 3 units for the whole game and it's not enough to grab objectives. They were also obliterated with Will of the Hivemind double over watch. It's a tough place for Sang Guard right now.

He's also my favorite 40k character after finishing his books! Also just finished the Mephiston books so I'm trying to fit his time stopping butt in my army 😂

I appreciate that though man, I will always run what I think is fun and Dante is always in my lists I don't care if he sucks lol He is my favourite character other than Sanguinius himself! :D

One change I would hope to see is that Mephiston gets to join vanguards and that Tychos gets to join sternguards. It just feels really wrong having the shooting cpt joining a bunch of CCW guys and the biggest beatstick sitting in a shooting unit.

I just can't get excited about Dante's rules, as cool as he looks I kinda feel a generic TH captain is just better due to that you can get it to S11 with the Honour Vehment and the free strat on the unit they are attached too. I've never had the Sustained Hits on Dante's pistol be useful.

Hey dude Jord here, generic thunder Hammer captain is most definitely a more competitive choice, the free Strat offers a lot of utility, personally for myself Dante is more fun and has proven successful in competitive play but I do agree the TH captain would provide more utility. The sustained is just jokes when it goes off. The TH captain shines especially in SOS detachment making generic marines S6 is great.

My big tip is to pair eradicators with the libby to take out Artillery or other heavy armour that may be hinding with range This video was super useful for this BA player! I know im late to the party but i wanted to say thanks

Agree with the overall assessment as a blood angels player too though. I think the red thirst only working when you charge rather than simply first round of combat like the last few editions really makes it feel pretty bad atm

I wouldn't say it's bad, it's just a much more skilled detachment and you really have to work off the strats and the tagging/withdraw element of the army, the detachment base rule is still really nice!

@@VT_Jord it has potential for sure, the onslaught strat can be good fun, for me the main issue is that the gladius just feels better overall for most of the game, you really have to go one dimensional with the list building to really feel like sons of sanguinius is worth it by comparison, which is a shame. Anyway, thanks for the video, was an interesting watch!

Wept a single, silent tear when you went on your joyous rant about how wonderful assault marines were with Dante + Sang priest. RIP. Really hope we get jump assault intercessors! Then again, even if we do, will Sang priests even be able to join them as they’re not primaris? Could be a long wait for the Bangel codex :(

Mephiston should be able to fly, therefore joining flying units and of course, he should have Blood Lance instead of the other power he has.

I mean as awesome as that would be to make him fly all the time he probably should have to cast it still like the Libby Dread but I'm all for it, and 100% with you on Blood Lance, the main issue with him is the units he can join

Ive played a couple games with a friend of mine who plays space wolves and admittedly its been kinda fun to charge Dante into his units, proc the battle shock and deny him the armour of contempt strat.

Do we have an update on halving OC? I'm definitely intrigued by that Enhancement. Was thinking 5 vanguard vets with heirloom and shield with a sang priest could be a really annoying rapid ingress unit for stealing away an objective in the midgame. Probs not super competitive due to towering and indirect, but maybe fun in casual.

So in the rules commentary it states that you always round up on characteristics after modifiers so if it is reduced to 0.5 then it was return back to 1 so as I am reading it the enhancement only really works on OC2 or more

@@kierans8620 no problems dude, honestly Dante's ability is clutch, just don't count on it happening as it is based on your opponent failing lol but it is still a great and underrated ability, plus it's Dante right my boy is a legend ✌🏼

I'm thinking of getting Lamenters space marines and heard that they're a successor chapter of the blood angels so I've been wondering if they use the normal blood angels rules or if they have their own rules. Man I was looking forward to this one. I fear it’ll boil down to “play as Gladius Task Force,” but hopefully melee and jump infantry still has a place in 10th

It deffo does, it's just not as good as it once was, it's a new way of playing really but I'm running pretty much all jump infantry and having great success with it competitively ✌🏼 we need to bring a more well rounded list so some shooting to help the army get into combat and retaliate

Bring 2 chaplains and Dante bring half your force as armour and benefit from the strengths of SM oath while getting covering fire with ranged threats as your fly boys work thier way up the board. Fucking melted a castellan in 1 turn with 2 executioners , pretty much won the battle without having to engage in combat . Gladius isn’t all that great unless your bringing desolation marines and whirlwinds. I still bring a whirlwind though for the chippy damage and forcing leadership checks

Sanguinary guard can go with a generic captain with jump pack! Thats how i ran mine since I don't have Dante

Ah yes my bad a captain can go with San Guard, imo still doesn't make the unit anymore viable competitively but the free Strat is nice! Dante would be better with them though for the +1 to hit as they only hit on 3s which is sad

Hearing ya'll talk about Mephiston reminds me of a slay the warlord game me and my friends played back in 5th edition where it was slay the warlord and I had mephiston and he had Typhos of the death guard. and it was getting late so we had the warlords and Mephiston straight up OBLITERATED Typhos and banished him to the warp (old force weapon rule) in one turn of combat without charge

Mostly agree with your review, though I personally think Dante is awful :D, I love his model, its glorious and if you are playing casually/narrative, he's an auto-take, but otherwise, just no. But mainly because sanguinary guard are SOOO horrendously over costed to a point where they never see the table, hell i wouldn't even take sang guard in a friendly. Meph is awful because there are no decent options for him to join as you mentioned and that sucks, I love my meph model. Lemmy is the best character in BA by a country mile with Sanguinor as a close second. Death Company are still good, sang priest as mentioned with an assault squad (f's in chat for assault squad) is great too. I've not yet tried a flamestorm overwatch predator but it does look fun. Disclaimer - Just my opinion, other opinions exist :)

Don't worry I mostly agree with your review 😉😂 I don't think Dante is awful, he could be better but he still can do stuff in 10th, he has pulled games for me competitively so I'll stand by my boy but I do agree that there is better options, Baal Pred is amazingggggg! I love it it's so funny to use 😂😂

Death Company Thunder hammers being two handled for zero benefit is the worst type of rules writing...they should have ALWAYS been like Deathwatch Veteran 'Heavy thunder hammers'! Sure they could pay slighty more points for it, but at least it would make sense! Since normal THs are fairly tame now, it would actually make the weapon option viable...

I think the reason for it is because the kit is pretty old now and they are two handed in the kit but they are just regular hammers as much as I would love heavy thunder hammers lol

Why Assault marines are being legend'd piece-meal ahead of Tactical marines and Devastator marines makes zero sense to me. GW has broken the trifecta (Tacs, Devs, Asss)...which is simply stupid and unfair on the armies like BA who drew upon Assault marines rather than Tacs or Devs! They should have just legend'd all firstborns, or all least kept the complete trifecta...and Command Squads. This would at least mean players could run a vanilla company of firstborn marines for historical purposes...!

Hey there, I think the DC dread is nice, I've used him it's just a shame his ability is abit niche, it's effectively a free interrupt but he still slaps hard and magna grapples are amazing! I love Strat reserving him and getting those 7" charges lol 😂

@jwb590 I always use blood talons just for the extra 2 attacks, their stats are strong enough, str 8 ap -2 damage is the same. and the range is what ever your feeling, though I norm use melta/flame.

I hate that there removing the firstborn guess I’d doesn’t bother newer players but I have a ton of these guys and don’t want them to just sit on a shelf thinning down and simplifying things doesn’t help the game no one played this game that isn’t intelligent hardly that I’ve ever met we can handle just adding more stuff you don’t have to remove peoples collections like I get they wanna make more new models try to make money and power creep the game but there really isn’t a need to remove older stuff also the simplification of basically no psychic powers and not having to pay for war gear are also pointless simplifications
