Just found your videos and your enthusiasm is contagious. I broke my right hand in several places a few years back and basically quit playing guitar because of the frustration of not being able to use my hand like I could before but after stumbling upon your videos and watching a couple of them and seeing how much fun you was having I just had to join in and so I picked up my guitar for the 1st time in 3 or 4 years and played along with you, well I tried anyways. But I will definitely be watching and playing again. Thank you very much
just a suggestion when playing the Am at the beginning of the flute solo, lift your index finger off the C note while strumming you'll hit the B note and hit the D note with your little finger, sounds complicated but its not.
Wow!! This was such an amazing video!! Thank you for posting this, great work and love the enthusiasm. I loved your bit about improvising the blues scale, so cool & informative!
Great lesson! I really appreciate the variations you throw in to spice up the songs. Really adds to the enjoyment of learning, something for all levels.
My list of songs I want to learn grows ever longer, and it's entirely your fault. 😉🤣😂 Seriously, though, those songsheets through Patreon, combined with your instructional style, really makes it fun to learn new songs. I've only been playing for a bit over 2 months now, and I can't play a single one of your songs all the way through yet -- not without stopping at most of the chord changes -- but I can picture myself actually one day being good enough to play along at full speed. Luckily it's fun watching and following along with your videos, and each time I do I get a tiny bit better. Thanks! 🙂
Beginner here. I can fully sympathise with your comment that you don't learn how to play the F chord by avoiding songs that have the F chord! It's been torture for me because I have small hands.
You are so right about learning to play the song first, and then work on the intro. Otherwise you might get discouraged because the intro is always much more difficult! Great Lesson Shane😁💥❤️
Hello Shane, I love your channels. I am a completely blind guitar player, and I am wondering if the beat buddy and the looper pedal are accessible, or can be used by a person who is completely blind. I am interested in both products, and would like to find out if they would be useful for me. You are a phenomenal guitar player, and I’ve learned so much from your channels. Thank you so much for what you do and if you can provide any information, it would be truly helpful. Peace and many blessings from the blind guy.
Thank you Boxcar - so glad to hear you are loving it - super! I am no authority on whether or not you could use the Beatbuddy with your situation there. In order to choose settings etc you have to read the screen. I'm guessing you have people around you who could help? My best to you, Shane
I say again. Brilliant format. I look forward to your lessons. Your videos encouraged me to buy the drum machine. I'm now getting nearer to buying one of those loopers. Great fun.
Hey Shane, great song choice, super video. Every time a new one shows up I wonder and hope my hands are soon ready to get back at it. 7 weeks till we return to the great white north and hopefully get back to playing. Thanks again for these Shane.
Thank you Wally - I always appreciate your encouragement - so much fun to make these videos and to hear from people who are enjoying them. My best to you from the frigid capital! Shane
Thank you Heather - I'm very fortunate to have that guitar - I really love it. So glad to have you here and happy to know you are enjoying. Cheers, Shane
Thanks for another great lesson Shane. Of all the teachers on RU-vid, I find your lessons the most enjoyable. Your enthusiasm is really contagious and you make learning new songs really fun. I was wondering if you have any 'scales for beginners' lessons in the pipeline? I feel like I would learn them much quicker with a teacher like you!
I always heard and sang "I began to pray" Just found out it was the original Lyrics, and was sung wrong on the album. Also, "The preacher lights the coals" which make more sense- with "Knows I going to stay"
Would help if u put chords at the btm of the screen rather than callem out so we can see what's coming up...would make a smoother transition...just an idea....can't always hear u over my playing...what can I say I'm half deef lol
Thanks for the great tutorial! I bought a BeatBuddy Mini 2 and didn't really care for it. I may get the regular BeatBuddy, though, because it's more modifiable and you can add drum beats for specific songs.
Thanks Geoff - very glad you enjoyed. Many people tell me they have the mini and are very happy with it. But if you want the programmability, the full version will definitely be the way to go. Cheers, Shane
Distinction between practicing and playing... wow... seems like I'm always PRACTICING. I practice, ad nauseum, until I learn the song well, then I move on to another song, quickly underestimating how soon I forget the previous one. Then I have to go back and practice those previous ones. I have to switch my mindset to PLAY more. Thanks for that subtle tidbit.
Cool lesson, sounds real tight, I have a Martin that looks like your Taylor so get a little farther away from your desk, then I’ll be able to focus 😅 a whole lot better 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Ha! Thanks Mark - I noticed that too. Dangerously close to the desk. Got lucky and didn’t bang it. Not a single ding in this 2019 Taylor 814CE. Cheers, Shane
Shane - i just stumbled upon your channel when i was looking up Gordon Lightfoot If You Could Read My Mind..and then found California Dreamin. I really enjoy your style of teaching - i'm an intermediate and find my experience learning with you super encouraging. Thanks for making it not too easy and not too hard. all the best. you are a gifted teacher.
Ive been wanting to learn id love to change the world by ten years after and patients by guns and roses forever but i will be taking a look at this for now thanks
Well, Shane, I’ve been playing this song for years, (‘cause I’m old enuf to remember when it dropped the first time ‘round) but it was a joy to hear you ‘splain it so effortlessly, like a conversation between the seasoned player and the eager student…I think you’re going to do well with this channel…though imma kinda late to the party ! Liked the explanation of not choking the neck, like a bat, or in Canada, like a hockey stick😊🇨🇦
Keep it up! Love your videos they have helped increase not only my technique, but also my library of music. A great challenge for one guitar would be Extreme’s “ More than words” , any chance of a play through of that song in the future? Regardless I truly appreciate your work and time. Cheers!
Thanks for that - so glad you are enjoying - I always have fun making these videos and it's super to hear from people who are enjoying them. Great song suggestion - I will absolutely be doing that song at some point for sure. Cheers! Shane
The LOOPER - OMG, this changed my life! I can have a chord pattern going on and do the scales and lead guitar, like I saw you do on 'California Dream'n (which I was HORRIBLE at,...probably still am, but I "believe" I'm getting much better - LOL!). Thank you for the advise!!
Thanks Shane, I'm going to learn this one as soon as my finger heals completely. Dr told me that playing guitar will be great therapy as soon as they take the pin out of my finger. Take care of yourself and your family. From Charlie
@@GuitarAtWork it really doesn't hurt, I did some nerve damage, so it's numb. Only time will tell if I get feeling back. I just hope I get full function back.
Too much caffeine today is right! Otherwise brilliant as per usual friend. I like the way you said we can peck away at the introduction too. Funny that was.
Shane - besides teaching a song - which a lot of others do, you are teaching me so many other things about being a more rounded guitar player - you are a great teacher - that's what i'm here for with your channel. all the best blessings - michael
Shane, I've been thinking about the possibility of purchasing the 814ce. Can you tell me what you like about the guitar? I currently own a 314ce, a Martin CEO 7, and a mahogany baby Taylor. I will appreciate your input. I can send you my email if you would prefer not to comment on a public forum. Thank you for your tutorials!
Found your comment amusing as you are full on enthusiastic and committed. I enjoy your RU-vid lessons as you make them easy to follow and are perfect for me (a recently retired enthusiast who is enjoying guitar again after 30+ years). Trying to learn something new every day whether it is a new favourite song or technique - I have 4 guitars, 2 Faith acoustics and Gretsch Electromatic and Fender Telecaster. Now I have the gear I need to make use of it all!
I got up at 4:30 to start my day! Open up my phone and I seen your video, you sure know how to start the day off great my friend. I was really getting into Your music tapping my feet against the floor lol..👍 very awesome!!
