Rest your index above the triangle button. The middle of the face buttons is just to get you into the right position. I also have a Fortnite exclusive claw guide on my channel if you want to watch that specifically.

One week to get somewhat comfortable. Probably took 30 days to get to a point where I was on par, or close to it, with how I played with back buttons. It’s worth the switch if you’re willing to learn something new, especially if you want to save some cash.

Nothing wrong with doing that. Depends what your ads and fire buttons are if you play FPS games.

It’s going to be tough to adjust to using your left pointer to move with the left stick. I briefly talk about this in the video I provided above. The video only covers right hand claw though.

Only guess is your hand isn’t rotated enough on top of the controller and you’re reaching too much.

That really shouldn't be much of a problem since you're not even using the pointer finger to hit face buttons but rather R1 only. This all comes down to practice in the end. It's going to feel weird for a while, but you need to continue to push past the comfort issues. The one thing you should be considering though is how rotated your right wrist is. If you're trying to hold the controller traditionally, you may feel weird trying to aim. You need to rotate your right wrist to the top of the controller more as if you're playing right hand claw.

Sounds like those fingers may not be resting on the controller properly. Make sure to go through the fundamentals of the grip and ensure those fingers support the back of the controller. They should not be squeezing onto the controller and holding on for dear life.

The Xbox controller is definitely bigger, so it's a further reach. With practice and some time, you should be able to get the hang of it. Give yourself the time and stay positive.

Great way to save money.

It's hard to say what's really going on. My first guess would be the grip you're using isn't right. It doesn't matter the size of your hand, anyone can claw if done properly. If your finger is crunched up like I mentioned in the video, your grip is definitely off. Follow the steps to make sure you're holding the controller more comfortably. My grip can get sloppy after awhile, but if I come back to the fundamentals, I bounce right back.

@@GSTim14 Awesome. Glad this helped you. I think that's the biggest issue when either people new to claw, or people who get used to it, start having pain. It comes down to gripping the controller the right way.

Sounds like your right hand needs to be a little more rotated on top of the controller rather than on the side like you would holding the controller traditionally.

If you’ve never played on controller, just spend a bunch of time against bots using this guide to get a feel for movement and aiming. Once you feel yourself getting comfortable, head into some pubs and take it easy. Don’t get frustrated if it doesn’t go well initially. It will come. Pace yourself. As a few weeks go by, you’ll start getting better at you’ll start getting put up against better players. It’s a process, but if you have good game sense coming from CS, that’ll do you a lot of favors moving to CoD.

i play on both controller and in my opinion playstation controller is much easier to play with claw

I agree with Rig. The PlayStation layout is just easier in my opinion. I also think the joysticks feel so much smoother. You can claw on either though.

It won’t change your accuracy. It allows you to hit face buttons while keeping your right thumb on the stick. It’ll allow you to stay on target, because you’re not taking your thumb off the stick. Your movement will also get better from being able to hit buttons such as jump or slide quicker.

No idea. I wish Sony didn't mess with the size, because the DS4 is better than the DualSense in my opinion.

Great question. Your middle finger is for both R1 and R2. Some people opt to use their ring finger for R2, but I personally don't. If the ring finger feels good to you, try that as well.

Sounds like your hand is too rotated on top of the controller, which is causing you to peck the face buttons with your finger nail tip. Not a big deal unless it bothers you. If it does, rotate your hand the opposite direction to correct it.

The best advice I can give you is be patient. It takes time to adjust. You’re going to feel weird and miss shots you typically don’t miss. Little by little you’ll notice the improvement and then it’ll be second nature playing this way.

@@erikmorales1641 That’s definitely true. 60 vs 200 is a big difference, especially when the life span of controllers isn’t all that long.

@@zyntril6404 sounds like your right hand is over rotated and too much on top of the controller for those bones to hurt.

More in the fingers. Palm encourages being too deep on the controller and may make it more difficult to hit the circle button with your index finger.

@@sike5759 Depends. If I’m playing double claw for some reason, both sides will match. I typically play right hand claw, so the left side is more of a traditional grip that’s more in the palm.

To me it sounds like the controller is too much in the palm of your hand. The right side of the controller should be more in the fingers and your right hand rotated to feel a bit on top of the controller. I hope that makes sense.

Your middle finger should be resting on R2 with claw. You should be able to bounce between R1 and R2 seamlessly with your middle finger. If that’s uncomfortable, then something me be wrong with your grip. I’d go back to the beginning of this video and carefully watch each part.

If you play that way, and you don’t have pain, that’s great. You should probably stick to what you’re doing. There are a lot of people out there struggling to get comfortable. This is a way I’ve found to work for me personally that I wanted to share.

Everyone is different. It took me about a week to learn it and about a month before it felt second nature.

You’ve been able to play tactical layout since early CoDs. That will swap melee and crouch around so that crouch is now R3 and melee is O/B.

@@temptation1 When I try to switch it, the button is ghosted or won't work. It's really frustrating. Something is keeping me from switching it. I don't have a PS4 controller, just using a cheap Chinese one, is that the culprit? I have to order a Dualshock. Thanks for responding

@@Aspiring-Hobo That’s your issue. It’s the knock off controller. A genuine DualShock 4 should fix that.

Core reason is to not take the thumbs off the sticks. Because of this, it allows you to quickly hit face buttons, since you’re not taking thumbs off the sticks. Your movement is a lot cleaner and faster.

Sounds like your hand should be rotated more on top of the controller to prevent reaching which would cramp your palm.

Thanks! Same thing for Xbox. I’ve tried the same technique on Xbox 360, Xbox One, DS3, DS4, Switch Pro, and Astro C40. Works the same on every layout regardless of size and stick placement (symmetrical vs asymmetrical).

@@Grevontaontop Sounds like the controller is probably too deep in your palm. Watch the video a few times and try to mimic every step. You shouldn’t be experiencing pain hitting the face buttons.

Just have to follow the instructions and stick to it. It’s easy to give up and go back to what’s comfortable. Anyone can do it.

Sounds like your hand is too far pulled away from the controller.

You get pretty used to it. R2 is hit with your middle finger.

It’s definitely challenging to hit both of those together. It’ll get easier with time. If you’re playing a game like CoD, I suggest using flipped, so you can shoot with R1 instead. Makes it a lot easier.

@@Idk56373 Okay. Just going to have to keep practicing. It gets easier with time. It took me a while to get used to it playing Fortnite. I learned claw playing that game specifically. If you can claw on that game, you can play any game out there with claw. I truly believe that.

I usually rest mine above triangle and press the trigger on the right with my middle finger.

@@temptation1 I do the same cuz I play apex and under pressure I keep my index finger resting on triangle to easily switch guns or holster them which makes u run quicker

Have you rotated your right hand on top of the controller enough? If your simply gripping traditionally, getting your middle finger to be active on the right bumper or trigger will be tough. Does that make sense?

Sounds to me like your hand is too under the controller making it difficult for your thumb to stay centered. You need to rotate your right hand a bit on top of the controller.

@@temptation1 even when I rotate my hand on top it just feels like I have more control with the middle of my thumb as it feels slippery when I use the top of my thumb
