Daniels Zandbergs Thanks man. A week later I can already play clean barre chords although sometime I struggle with getting the low E and A to ring out. Now I mainly need to work on transitioning between open and barre chords smoothly.
Watching the intro seeing in my mind a hard song for my stage in guitar playing...I still tried and it happened to be really easy for me and now I’m really good with barre chords. THANK YOU MARTY...YOUR THE MAN
Gavin... I hear you buddy. I used to be the same way. Then, somehow I started adding in a barre chord here and there and next thing I knew, I went from being an AWFUL guitar hack to being a not-all-that-bad guitar hack. Get you string height at the nut checked. If you can kind of play an F barre chord, the a G barre chord at the 3rd fret will be a breeze and an A barre chord at the 5th fret is SO EASY. Learning G, then A and then B (and C) "E" shaped barre chord is easy. You might even say, "OH... That's what those dots are for" (on the side of the neck.) Then learn B, C, D, E and maybe F using the "A" barre chord shape. It will change your guitar playing forever. And then playing things like C#m will just be another chord. I'll even pick songs that I used to only play in open chords and play them with NO open chords. It's cool to see how they sound the same... but different.
Gavin, keep at it, they will come. Mine kind of surprised me when I could actually play a few, still not great, but a break through. Now I can even play them on my old beater hundred dollar guitar.
I absolutely LOVE how you teach! A quick overview of the song followed by quick, easy to follow chord progressions. Getting ready for my first open mic night by using your Tutorials. Thank you!
Marty, you are my go to guy for quick song learning! I have viewed many of your lessons on various songs and take it to the stage! You are a great teacher!
I watch you everyday and have been for two years. You've helped me learn bar cords... hope one day our paths will cross...! You da best man may the Lordbless you and keep you!
He he he, now I know you really love this song just by how much you put into the play through. I love it though, so kindred spirits. I'm gonna learn this... thanks.
I still remember seeing Gavin's comment and thinking similar thoughts. Stumbled on this video just now and WOW, I'm jamming this one out. DON'T STOP BELIEVING!
Great lesson Marty! Never thought to play this on acoustic, but it's amazing. Thanks for opening my eyes to that. Love to see a lesson on Soul Coughing/Mike Doughty songs. Thanks.
your lesson videos helps alot usually when i try to watch other people's lesson videos they don't describe it well like the chords or the patterns there is only a few other people i can understand when it comes to trying to learn new song but when i want to learn a song i always check to see if u have a lesson on it first since i understand u. sometimes i have no clue wat i want to learn but rlly want to learn a new song so ill just go through ur videos and watch the first part where u play it first before you start teaching and i just keep on till i find something that sounds fun to play my favorite kind of music is country but it seems all the same on guitar to me and some of it is plain and all the same chords just a little different order and patterns i like songs that are unique and has some slides, hammer ons and some pull offs but at the same time not to extreme this song is a perfect song to learn rlly fun and u did a great job at teaching it
I know every single strum is making the Taylor better and better and seasoning it it in....but man I really miss your Martin's character and class sound....BTW thanks for ALL your great efforts on your great new channel!!
I used to play guitar last year for the first time I watched “The Sopranos”it was amazing and I wanted to learn “don’t stop believing” and two weeks later I saw the many saints of Newark trailer can’t wait for the movie
Hey Marty I always dig your stuff, I have a suggestion can you add links in the description that point to certain places in the song, so if I know the bridge and verse but need to jump to the chorus, I can do that quicker without scrubbing through the footage. Just a suggestion. Thanks for all the help!
My man Marty! I been seeing your videos for a few years now... You always have, by far, the best material here on RU-vid! So helpful... Don't have words to express my gratitude! Keep it up man! Almost One Million subscribers by now, congrats!! You're the best!!
Great tutorial! Made it easy to understand. It's the right hand that's tricky. Strumming and hitting those bass notes without losing the groove. It can be done. I won't stop believing!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Thanks Marty! You’re the best RU-vid teacher in here, HANDS DOWN!! Gonna make the roommates insane, rocking back and forth the next 2 weeks mastering this one, over and over and over…….. Thanks again for “Where is my mind by Pixies” (y’all should check that one out too!) That song got me learning my bars.
Great Videos Marty! When I first started learning how to play guitar I always used to watch your videos to learn how to play the songs I wanted to learn. And I hope you get more SUBS!
Marty, I am not really sure if you're gonna read this, but, is it possible to do a video on setting up an acoustic? Adjusting the string height, particularly. I either have them too dang high or I have string rattle.
I like songs with these with more chords instead of a lot of picking patterns. I can do barre chords finally and I find it so much easier than doing picking patterns. Any tips to get better at picking faster?
Hi I find this very accurate even though mine sounds so bad I just need to practice a bit but this helped a lot now it sounds better than ever thanks marty
You’ve done it once again my friend! Thank you! This is right in my wheelhouse, not ridiculously challenging (Little wing) however plenty of work to do on this ☝️
Real nice! As a Canadian I would love to have a lesson on an oldie like Let It Ride or You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by BTO. You always give a great lesson Marty, thanks so much my friend.
Yeah welcome.....I would really like it if you and Justin Sandercoe meet again! You guys are the best youtube guitar teachers in the world and I would be glad if you both teach or play together again!!
I learn my songs on GarageBand on iPhone because I don’t have my guitar most of the time but when I get to it I transfer what I learned onto a real guitar
