I think the main issue being regarded with the first point is that most people have been put into the mindset of "Get Level 2 first at all costs before the opponents" and so they take these unnecessary risks for a spike that might not even work

It should be: 1: Melee engage supports 2: Range supports 3: Bard.

The level 3 rule doesn't really apply for most melee supports, it's mostly an Alistar thing. Naut and Blitzcrank are extremely dangerous level 1, Pyke/Thresh can get some really favourable trades even before level 2 if they hit a hook, Leona usually wants to engage level 2 and Rell engages level 1 or 2 depending on enemy positioning/matchup. Even with Alistar you can engage level 2 if the enemy doesn't back off quickly enough and you haven't lost too much health.

Okay, I will comment this: if u you know that sup is autofilled and want to avoid interaction with the enemy, just perma push and stay back until next wave, like sivir. This also allows the sup to roam, this can be done by some adcs, like ez, sivir, varus. You might want to do that with melee sups if you keep losing 2v2s.

The triangle thing is annoying when the adc dont understands it... I had an adc flaming for not attacking the enemy adc, while i was way t far away from both, because he overextended

Tbh that first alistar engage was rly clean, the Samira cancelled the knock back into turret by alistar W with her passive. That woulda been a kill on lulu

I'm a silver player and surely can't understand everything, but it's kinda confusing when in one episode you talking about cheater recalls or lvl 2 engages, and in another advice is to let the wave push and try to get lvl3

One if the reasons I like amumu support is that you have a really strong level 1 and 2 and the three is just okay. So you can go in even level 1 since you have 200 dmg and 2 seconds of CC on your two Q's

that’s why i love ranged damage supports. they don’t seem to rely on your adc not knowing/listening to wave control. not as reliant as having a good wave, like Nautilus and Leona are. and blitzcrank can hook opponents who are under their tower, makes him S rank in low elo for so long. going to start the ranked journey soon be sure to check it out

Your bot lanes arguing brought back memories lol. See, I learned to play LoL in China when I was teaching there. I had a Chinese teacher friend use his national ID and created an account for me to spend nights gaming away. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, a total foreign noob walking in Chinese LoL. I had successfully integrated the English interface to the Chinese servers using "how to" available online. I stepped in the arena 2014, or so.... I saw the birth of Jinx. But I could not read, or write Chinese. I'd try to tell them, in English the best I could. I took Soraka as my initial champ, I love healing in most games and I thought I'd enjoy that one. Soraka at the time was a different beast, The healer, but a very different animal. Bot was the position I could call in English pre game.The pings that I've got on the map was pretty overwhelming at first, ADCs going insane typing in Chinese and pinging the map. Me = wtf? I finally got the message along the many games and a few English speakers that trying to kill minions was bad. I was sooooo NOT happy about that fact, I needed gold too!! I also learned that hitting minions all the time is bad, that's called pushing. Taking the kill, which banana girl was simply not equipped for, the crime of all crimes. I got over the fact that I had to pay for the damn wards out of the gold I couldn't get, never bought any, they reminded me every game. I still can't last hit to this day. I pretty much sucks at the other roles, but I'm a Chinese trained supp. I'll keep you alive or die trying, ADC gets the glory. I STILL ban Blitz to this day...

I've recently found the hardest problem is that my teammate in the bottom (ADC or sup) often doesn't understand wave control (I'm not good at it either but some of these guys have NO self-awareness) and they will simply try to kill as many minions as possible, hard pushing to the tower with only a couple of casters every time. Asking them to stop and play more passively rarely works and they'll lose the lane due to a lack of slow pushes and freezes.

Had a match as a Jinx, support karma, enemy Draven and soraka. My support deiced to trade with the draven level 1, root thing start, in minion wave and died and flame me not follow up. Karma end up 0/11/0 in lane, and fed draven, and he can one shot all of us just 1 auto

Another problem many MANY ADC's make that is difficult for me as support, is allowing the wave to crash. It's good to let the wave come to you, bad to let the ENTIRE wave come to you and lock you under tower. Edit: Reset the lane back to the middle of the lane again

This is why I don’t play bot anymore, sometimes I still get filled support. In those cases I usually just end up roaming, sometimes I get a good adc and I’ll stick by them.

Anyone else feel like blitz should have a separate category? Yes blitz is melee and an engage support but we can also bring the enemy to us. The more minions the enemy has to hide behind the less useful we are. Yes theoretically allowing enemy minions to stack up could allow you to pull them into turret but most adcs aren’t dumb enough to stick around if blitz is there. Unlike Leona and naut, his range skill doesn’t go through minions so that wall of enemy minions makes him relatively useless.

4:10 so I assume that hitting the wave here is only bad because the push is equal (and jinx has overpowered pushing capabilities lv1). But if Lulu/jinx leash, would you not want to get the push and look to lv2? Or is that asking too much from the Alistar? Presumably in platinum, he'd know- right?

Alright so summary: Two types of support: Range, Melee Melee: 1. Stay healthy: Let opponent push and farm under tower to level 3 (don't take caster if lose health, don't take melee if lose too much health too) or push to get minion advantage when you have better wave clear champ 2. Set up easy-to-engage wave: Thin the wave and let it push or push it to the middle so that the melee support can engage and not lose too much health Ranged: 1. Get minion advantage: Push to get minion advantage for range support to poke safely 2. Take parallel trades: Position so that you and your support can both attack an opponent, if support is not forward with you play back with them until the opportunity to parallel trade comes up Notes: Remember to ward deeper when pushed into the opponent side

Well it hurt me as a support when I poke the enemy bot lane and my adc is just farming like a bot, also I hate it when my adc stay in the middle of the lane just because they don't look the map or don't pay attention of my ping...

Okay, but what if the adc knows nothing about wave management? I literally was playing leona and my adc pushed the wave (not even full shove), and I became useless. I told him to shove or let the enemy push but he kept the wave in that awkward position that makes me useless. What should I do in this case as a support? Should I just stand in this lane doing nothing or go roaming? In both cases I'm losing my advantage.

I started playing Pyke mid and have noticed a trend with casters: In general, they just arent worth the gold early on. It's better to miss them gaining XP and preserving hp early on. Is this the case or am I misreading things?

5:10 could have been really great if Samira didn't ruin Alistar's play. Alistar Flash Qd into Lulu and then used W to push her into tower. Samira both reacted too late, wasting the entire knockup from Alistar Q, and also canceled Alistar W with her passive, completely neutralising Alistar's playing and allowing Lulu to get away

…but Pyke and Kaisa had that dmg since lvl 2… it wasn’t about level at all, it was more about lane control/minion numbers and Ezreal being absent. That was a really bad example of a “waiting for 3” situation. Besides Alistar, I struggle to find an adequate example of a support that actually needs level 3 to do his job in this category. The same cannot be said about enchanters nor all adc, but the example given with Pyke was really bad.
