*_Gratz on the KS hitting it's goal in 1 day! That awesome soundtrack belongs in the catalogue of CryoChamber. I'm happy for you, you've come a long way._*
This is something different. I love the use of terrain and being able to manipulate it, add and remove. Why isn't that in every game? Love the artwork, and the miniatures are really something different.
How many times has a general or luetent go up and moved a mountain or forest or lake? That said it's rare only a few games I no do this but in those games you take turns placing terrain at the match start and in one historical wargame example i's explaimed as the opsing forces scoting ahead and finding a good place to encounter each other.
It doesn't make much sense in every game. In this, it makes total sense. In many fantasies, it makes some sense. In Bolt Action or Force on Force, it makes no sense at all that a ruined cathedral just shifted half a kilometre down the road and rotated through 90 degrees around the z axis.
I've never tried any wargaming, but I find this quite compelling. The theme is cool, the rules seems fairly light and sensible and I love how I could relatively easily jump into this with terrain and miniatures I already own. I mean, the miniatures here look sick, but I greatly appreciate how making the game miniature-agnostic lowers the financial barrier to entry. Looking forward to seeing how this project moves forward!
This is AMAZING. I’m so excited! I love how you’ve married the mechanics with the theme. I love that the objectives move around! Great job, Jeremy and JP!
Since I’m more of a terrain builder than a mini maker/painter, the fact that terrain plays a key role is great. The hype for the kickstarter for me is off the charts. Best of luck during the campaign.
Just heard about your game on Trapped Under Plastic, I had to check it out, I must say the minis are super impressive and some give me a real "Hellraiser/Clive Barker" vibe and I love it, and not to mention it looks super fun! Thank you guys for creating this, I can't wait for release!!!!!!
I'm a big wargamer and I've been wanting to get my GF more involved since she likes the painting, but hasn't found a game system she likes yet. She loves horror themes, and doesn't like a lot of models in play since its a lot to keep track of, but IoT looked perfect! I showed it to her and I was very surprised to see how hype she got! I'm sad the release is February, but I guess that'll give us something to look forward to! Awesome idea, unique system! Glad to be able to back this project :)
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial The hardest part is waiting for release! lol Also I saw a notification that said that I had won a giveaway or something on your channel two days ago, but when I clicked it the notification doesn't lead anywhere? Was it just a phishing attempt or did I miss out?
Holy crap I have been keeping a close eye on this ever since you announced it, I love this game it looks amazing already. 👏 great job for sure!!! I hope I get a chance to get this and play it
Just ordered ‘Idols of Torment’ (late pledge - deluxe complete package). PSYCHED!! My bf and I LOVE your videos, Jeremy. Keep making awesome things please 😊😊
Haven’t even watched this yet, and I honestly don’t NEED another tabletop skirmish game. But your content helped keep me sane during the last couple years of working Covid response, and gave me some hobby fun to look forward to with my kid. For that, I’ll be supporting this game 100%. Good luck, and congratulations in advance!
At first, I was like, OK, I am enjoying the aesthetics, but already have a ton of skirmish games in the works. Then you introduced the regular appearance board state changes. Time to load up on the terrain and get my local store to turn this into regular event!
It would be pretty cool if you did a couple collab games with other creators. Tabletop Time, Goobertown (who I saw commented), Squidmar, Miniac, etc..... I would think that would boost sales as well ;)
I've been fallowing the progression of this game since the beginning and it looks sweet. I really like games that throw in some chaos to make each session something different. The initiative system, cards, turn sequence and how the lost move about and can be interacted with seem really cool. And I love how some of the godly eternal powers allow you to manipulate and change the dynamics of the playing area. Plus, shout out to the art for the Echo Deck. Reminds me of a really sick looking tarot card deck. Perfect aesthetic for the game. But it's crazy to think this all came from a desire to create some different terrain when you were in a creative funk. Some of the biggest ideas come from the smallest of things. I don't have a 3D printer, but if anyone ends up selling prints of the Idols, or if you manage to eventually release some hard plastic kits, I'll be picking some of them up. But this is one of those games that screams to be over run by howling mobs of demonic creatures kitbashed to all hell and back.
Some stretch goals for this Kickstarter would be cool. Things like terrain bits as STLs with some accompanying videos using those bits in some terrain. I still have yet to build some terrain, even though I've been watching your channel for years. I've employed your lessons on statues, but have yet to play a game with minis. I'm really looking forward to playing this game.
Okay the terrain feature is just *chef kiss*, reminds me of black and white, literally plucking and manipulating the world via influences. So good! It's just missing random entities like third party factions to bother both teams, that would be so much fun haha. Can't wait to test this out!
Third party entities - and advanced rules to support them - are included in a few scenarios. I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you find out who those entities are...
Leave it to Black Magic Craft to make the terrain an almost a playable character XD. I can not wait to back this on kickstarter! Thank you for the many years of magic! I really hope to see some battle reports of this on your channel as well!
You can make some $ when a good writer decides Idols is an ideal vehicle for graphic novels. Truly a magnificent looking game which is #1 in enticing people to play. Excellent work!
Looks absolutly great! Maybe there will be, but I am hoping that all the Orders have different abilieties based on their theme, since you've put so much work in the creation of the setting. It feels like a lost opportunity if not. Looking forward ot the Kickstarter
This feels like a modern version of a 'chess' game. I personally would've changed d20 in some situations for a d10 - this way attack and defense modifiers would have much more prominent effect and even +1 would matter giving +10% chance to sucessfuly attack or defend oneself. Nevertheless this feels like a very cool game! One thins that i absolutely love about it is that you can print your own miniatures for this making it in different styles and themes. So freaking cool i love it!
I can tell that this is a passion project... If it had been a monetary project you would have made it so we needed to buy expensive and specific models just to play it.
I'd love to see a play through. Show us the chaos. Notice a plan suddenly going awry due to some wildcard action. I don't know if the specifics of that example exist in the game. But you do and are able to translate it into an IoT equivalent. Yeah I know, buy the game and play it. I hope my bi-polar finances are positive within that window.
Looks awesome. Hope it become a success and we can see it soon translated to other languages than English (specially spanish that is mine ). Congratulations, great work.
That looks really fun and engaging. I think it would be cool if you added Angels/Devas to the creature types to get the eternal struggle of heaven and hell added to the mix. You may have mentioned yea or nay on that in a prior video and I missed it, if so my apologies. I have been watching your vids for well over 2 years it seems, and I thank you for all you've done.
Looks like a cool game, I might tweak the phase out when I play. After turn 4 players roll 1d4 and that many idols phase out. It suggests the same thematic concept, speeds up the remaining turns, and implies stronger idols can hold out longer. Obviously I have not played yet but just watching this it seems appropriate in my head... might not be balanced though.
Great Job and congratulations to reach the goal! Just one question....Maybe I've missed something, but I did not understand if there are any differences between the different factions or is just an esthetic/lore difference.
Sure you've thought about it, but are you asking Ash @GMG to do a let's play? He's great at explaining rules and there's always chaos in his games :) Seeing it in action might bump the backer count?
Hey I really wanna get into this game and other skirmish games but I have no talent and never painted a mini. Is there anyway I can buy them pre painted some how?
You’re right, this game is just really cool. Sounds like a nice blend between war games and dnd. Also I love that you’ve built a game around your main interest in the the with the terrain. Such a cool idea. Do the individuals in each different “faction” have the same stats and abilities? E.g. is a reaper from one faction the same as a reaper from another or does each faction have its own general play style? Obviously they have lore that’s different but does that translate into the gameplay? Again this looks awesome 👍
Check out the Game section on the website for a bit more info, but in short each Idol type has the same basic stats but every Order has order abilities that give them unique mechanics and advantages that change those play style.
To be honest, not a fan of the bag. Would prefer to roll off for each initiative instead. It just seems cumbersome with a bag. But on the other hand, manipulating the layout of the board allowing it to transform as you play seems really fun!
If you are rolling then numbers can come up multiple times, disrupting the entire system. You will only be drawing tokens once per round, so only a couple times per game. It’s quick, for sure faster than rolling initiative 10 times per round.
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial oh, I meant no disrespect. I just don’t appreciate the bag and drawing tokens :) I don’t like it in Scrabble either… The models are cool, the crafting is cool and the changing layout. I wish you the best of luck with your launch! Thanks for all the great content over the years. Cheers!
Oh, didn’t take it like that. The bag itself is inconsequential, you can draw tokens however you like best. The important part is randomizing your pulls.
Thanks for making such an intriguing game. I'm brand new to miniatures games, and while I do enjoy the sci-fi aspects of these games, Idols of Torment is exactly the kind of game that I'm looking forward to playing. I backed it as soon as I finished watching this video. One question though: is there any chance of a Kickstarter add-on involving the game's miniatures? I don't have a 3D printer and I don't know anyone with one, but I desperately want the full set of miniatures for this game and would be willing to pay more for them. Thanks so much!
Hi there, thanks for the support. Creating physical miniatures for all 80 Idols would likely cost us far more than this entire project will even raise so it is not possible at this time. Injection molded plastic is VERY expensive to produce and the investment to make the Game Pieces in plastic was already substantial. Cheers.
Each faction in the game play around with the deadly sins theme, so i ask. Did u guys plan on doing a expasion focusing on the Virtues? Cause you know the Echo looks like a mish mash of heaven and hell and both sides could be equally represented 🤔
Do you know of any 3D printing service that can print these models out in high resolution once the Kickstarter drops? I don’t have the space to get a 3D printer? Thanks.
This looks amazing & I especially love the moving terrain idea 👍 Have you made a video on these terrain pieces as they look awesome or are they in the Kickstarter 🤔
