Ben, This is the correct play to the official game of Ladder Golf. Top rung is 3. Middle is 2. Bottom is 1. You can play it anyway you want, but this is the official scoring method.

OK this must be for families that modify the rules... First the Player/Team MUST hit 21 exactly to win. The official rule book states that in case of a Tie at 21 then there is a 2pt tie breaker. My logic filter is discombobulated at this point because the way the scoring works only 1 team can score in a round and AS SOON AS a team reaches 21 the game is over. So that seems to negate the chances of a tie because the round CANNOT start with one team already having 21 so there would never (it seems) be a situation where 2 teams can end up with 21 at the end of any single round UNLESS a all points from both teams counted... (Team A could have 19 and Team B could have 18 and Team A scores 2 while team B scores 3) Which the rules don't allow.

Ken, thanks for the comment and the attention to detail. Let me try to help. Games are played to 21 exactly. The top rung is worth 3 points, the middle is 2 and the lower rung is 1 point. If a player goes over 21, then the points that round do not count. For example: If a player has 18 and gets 5 points going over 21, those points do not count and the player starts the next round with 18 still. The game is NOT over until all players have thrown all bolas. So this means, player 1 can get 21, and then player 2 gets to try to either score 21 as well or knock off some of player 1's points. Again, the round is not over until all players have thrown. In case of a tie, the tied players go into sudden death over time, where you have to win by 2 points. I hope this helps. No. Each player tosses all 3 bolas at once before the next player tosses. The player with the most points at the end of the round gets to throw first the next round. The winner of the last round tosses first the next round. Here are the complete rules. www.tosso.com/blogs/news/ladder-ball-rules

Doubles would be played like Horseshoes or Cornhole with 2 Ladders setup and 2 opponents at each Ladder. The team with the most points in the last round would go first.
