Wery nice explanation, i love playing in Dadgad, thanx for the inspiration, i will try this out... I just Wonder though, i know the song with different lyrics? "On the day that I was married, and laid in my married bed, up comes a bold see captain and stand at my bed head, saying arise arise young wedded man, and come a long with me, to the lowland of Holland, to fight the enemy"... Why does it have different words?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! The lyrics you mentioned are from a different version of the song, which is common in folk music. Variations in lyrics can often be found.
Love your stuff man. I've been olaying for years but im fairly new to dadgad and trad. Any chance of a lesson on the melody for this song? Ye vagabonds do it lovely but on bouzouki.
Hi, ya this tune has a lovely melody. If you haven't checked out Kenneth Belshams version he might the man to reach out to regards guitar melody arrangement. Here's his Martin Simpson rendition which is gorgeous: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JzhFL0Fd_xU.html And he seems to put together tabs of his DADGAD arrangements on his Facebook channel, so it might be worth reaching out to him for the melody: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JzhFL0Fd_xU.html I hope that helps 👍🎸
Absolutely loved the video. I’ve never played in DADGAD before- just tried it for the first time using your video. You did such a great job of explaining it. Have you ever considered covering how to play the ‘Queen of Argyll’ by Silly Wizard? I’ve searched the internet for a good tutorial but can’t find any. Once again, thanks for the good work. Cheers from America !
Thanks very much for the kind comment Maximilian. I'm very happy to hear you're getting something from the tutorials. I haven't learnt that song yet but I had a listen and it sounds nice. I'll try stick it on my to do list. Cheers 👍
Hi Aodan, why this 5th in your Bm chord when a single finger chord would make it clearly minor ? (Here, the 3rd is only from the first string as the 6th string is not played)
Hi Dominique, ya you're right. You can play the one finger Bm X20000 so that the middle D string rings out and gets the 3rd sounding more clearly for the minor chord. I just tend to lean a bit heavier on the open high D sting when playing the X02400 version, but ya that one finger (Bm13-) works great 👍
@@aodancoynemusic hey this may sound so stupid of a question to ask, but what is the strumming pattern? is it up down up down or something different like 1 and 2 and 3 and 4.
@JT McCoyz no it's not a stupid question. I should have went through the rhythm at the start of the video a bit more. You are correct. It's counted just as you say. 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &. Best of luck with it!
