Lute Thomason was my great grandfather. My Grandmother, Lute daughter, had memories of listening to her Dad and his brother work on Midnight on the Water till the wee morning hours on their porch for days till they finally were satisfied with it..it's a favorite of mine. I recently traded a guitar for a mandolin and have been working on this tune. Sure made it easy after watching this video. Ive heard Uncle Benny Thomasson play this tune several times. Thanks for choosing Midnight on the Water. ⁷
WOW that's so cool, I'm new to mandolin but this is by far my fav fiddle tune I've practiced. This music touches my soul and makes me long for my long distance love ❤️
I just recorded a simple version of this song for my channel but didn't know the name of it. I've been trying to find the title for two days now and suddenly your video popped up! Perfect timing. Thank you for the title, your channel and all the helpful info you provide. 🙏
Do you have something that helps us classical violin/violists in transitioning to mandolin/la? We are used to reading classical notation, not chords and improv from it.
Surely there is a mistake here David where the fleeting music notation at 7.50, shows an upstroke on the down beat of beat 4 in the bar? Don’t you mean to take care to have an upstroke on the 3+ before the 4 (Down) 4+ (Up)? Or is this some strange exception to APT???? Yours obsessionally ....Thanks... Bruce in 🏴 😉
