I think the thing I find hard is keeping the high E string going throughout, at the right points- I tend to focus on the melody with the A and D strings, and forget the high E needs introducing- any tips for how to do this is or is it just practice I guess. 🙃

I know this may seem like a stupid question . but can I just use the capo on a particular fret rather than tuning the guitar to open D? I am learning so its a serious question - help x I guess what I mean is , can you get the same sound that an open D tuning gives by putting the capo on another fret?

Unfortunately you will have to tune it to Open D. I use an app called “Guitar Tuna”

Why not remove the capo and make it possible for everyone to learn? What's the logic behind using the capo on the first fret for a tutorial?

Hozier plays the original with a capo, so doing it with a capo will make it sound more like the original recording. You don't absolutely have to, and you could just translate it up yourself if it's bothering you. But people tend to feel better when they play it and it sounds pretty similar

The capo affects the key its in. A capo on the first fret is to be playing it in the original key of the song, but if you play it with the exact same shape at the base frets itll still be the same song in a different key!

He is just teaching it exactly the way Hozier plays it. without capo its just in a lower key
