In 2008 an African prince taught me the rules of omweso at Kasubi tombs in Kampala. This #mancala game is called omweso in Uganda and igisoro in Rwanda, but I think the rules are roughly the same. Here is how I play it, but please let me know if you have different rules as there are many variations. It looks complicated at first, but after you've played a few games you get the hang of it.
🤭 I realised after making this that I'm probably pronouncing empiki wrong. In Kinyarwanda it's usually a hard K, but in Uganda it often becomes a softer ch - empichi.
