How to Play online games with your Sky3ds+ (Private Header)

In order to do this you are going to need a hard copy of game(legit copy) which you can get at gamestop/amazon. I recommend to get a game that has online availability. You are also going to need a device called PowerSave (Link Below) this is the only way to do it if you are on the latest firmware. Also I forgot to mention that you have to do this to every game that you want to play online with.

NOTE: Do NOT copy my private header as this can get you banned from playing online (since I'm going to be using it). Also do NOT use any public headers that you find as these WILL get you banned.

great tutorial, I want people to know that you don't need the code to be from a network enabled game, it can be any 3ds game. I'm using tales of the abyss' code and it works fine for all my games on the sky3ds+.

It works. Yay ! Tried it this afternoon, i was kind of affraid at the begening because after all the manipulations my 3ds still said "u can't go online with this card" But i found out my error lol when he said that we had to delete the save files, i believed it was the file from the Sd card of the 3ds, so i deleted it from the settings, but reading the comms i understood it was .sav files and no save files lol, and we have to delete it from the sd card of the sky3ds I tried this with mhGen and it works. (the 5th of October 2016)

Physical cartridge game doesn't need to have online features. As long as it works with the Powersave adapter it will be fine.

Great video! Just figured it out myself yesterday. One piece of info missing though. idk if it was an issue only I had but I think the Cart Id from the header has to match the cfg file Cart Id created by the S3ds+. ex:C2F80090. You must replace it with a matching private header from one of the card types CARD1 or CARD2. You can tell by the last number in the Cart Id either an 90 or 98. ex:C2F80090 and C2F80098. always delete the SAV. file everytime you change headers and you're golden

+Francisco Ruperto Use Gateway Rom patcher to find out the header info. load rom in rompatcher. download the newest template from sky3ds.com open up in notepad and search for the game you wish to fix. When you find the roms template. look in the first 3 lines. All templates will have the ID starting with a C2, 45, or AE. most will be C2 but a small % are 45 or AE. ex AEF80098 or 45F80090

I did read about that but before i made this video i tried getting the unique ID from 3 different gamecarts(mario kart 7 & pokemon y & Tri force heroes) all of the ID's worked.

(another question) I saw in the comments below that you can extract your own private header from game you own, they're talking about the psysical copy of the game? Hey man. I've made a tutorial of the sky3ds+ just like you, and it also had a private headers section. However, mine got Community Guidelines striked and the video was taken down in violation of the Community Guidelines. Sadly, I appealed the video and my appeal was denied, so I can't appeal for 60 days. I DID NOT show any illegal stuff in it and specifically stated that acquiring games you don't legally own is illegal. I don't see why I got the strike when I did the same thing as you.

+Michael R The new firmware V112 is an optional feature. You dont need to update it and if you did update it you can still use the method in the video!

I kept getting the error 002-0123 so I downloaded Pokemon X and put it in my Sky3DS+, and then I put in my private header that I got from my actual copy of Pokemon X using the Powersave method. I still keep getting the same error though. I tried using Gateway Rom Patcher, that doesn't fix the issue either. Can you please help me? I'm on V112

When you create a private header, you have to delete the older savefile because it sin't compatible anymore.

I have a little confusion, ANY Private Header works for ANY game as long as is a legit Private Header or the header only works for the same game (e.g. Pokemon X Private Header only works for Pokemon X roms) ?

It could be an offline game but you should make sure that the Powersaves Software is compatible with the game. I got one of my headers through New Super Mario Bros. 2

You only need to purchase 1 game. It can be the cheapest game aswell just to extract the private header. Once you have the private header you can use for all the other games. As of right now thats the only method that can be done.

This is a great video. However I cannot find the group of FFs anywhere. I search for the name I created for my backup and look up and down and can only find a group of FFs that looks like this "FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF" which isn't even close to 40. I tried using the text before it because there was a "00 88" but I'm still unable to play online. Just wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong or if you've heard or encountered this problem. I'm using my Pokemon AS. I'm not banned online either.

Question. I followed all these steps and didn't delete my .sav file before going online, I got a message saying something like "cannot go online with this game cart". Once I deleted my .sav file it was working fine. my question is; did the fact that I tried to go online before deleting my .sav file put me at risk for a ban?

No thats the error that happens when you dont delete the .sav file after applying the header. It might have put you in the risk but not very high

It is all about chances. The fact that you didn't get banned doesn't mean they are never going to get you. It is a risk I wouldn't take considering that if you get banned you won't be able to connect with that console ever again.

Is this truely safe? Have you gotten a ban since using this method? Is this the same as implanting the private header directly into the rom? I'm only sacred to use this way because it seems like doing things this way is more like a quick mask over the roms real ID. Kinda like how hackers hide their IP address with anothers.

+PyPaw Its completely safe! I haven't been banned yet. It's exactly the same as injecting a private header. With the sky3ds+ the Dev made it a lot easier to add a private header. Injecting a header doesn't work with the sky3ds+

Don't see the point, since you need to buy the game anyway, so it voids the purpose of pirating it. Then again, nice to be able to keep your game in the system without having to take out your flashcart.

Yes. try changing the the front 2 characters of your cart ID to C2 AE or 45. Whichever one lets you connect online is the right one!

I use portal Roms, and rom2station rom2station requires a code that stone sues give you when you purchase the sky3ds. it's a private site which is why it requires a code. portal Roms is free to everyone though!

I am already using my private header but when I try to go online on a game it says I have the wrong cartridge, is it because the game updates when I start the game? Or is it because my header is probably wrong?

Header could be in the wrong format. What card are you using (Sky3ds+, gateway?)

I fixed it, it was cause of the save file, deleted the save file and now its working 100%, but thanks anyway =D

+Yudha Taufan P You don't have to change the Card_ID, just need to edit the gamesave_key. It shouldn't be a problem unless you configure something out.

+kaka4787 if you have 3ds with firmware 9.2 you can dump your original cartridge, and then in your general memory card there is file .3ds, copy to pc and use Gateway ROM patcher to know the private header

You need to do it for every game on your card that you will connect online with but you can use the same header for all of them.

+Pedro Henrique I suggest you get the NEW3DS, I use the orange button card because it works on newer updates and i dont have to wait for template files to be released. So far people have only been getting banned for 2 weeks I dont think the ban is permanent and yes you can update your 3ds WITH the orange button card.

kiruoful you need to wait out the 2 week ban. Also you can get a private header from any game

You have to add the header to every game that youre going to play online with. You can use the same header for all the games.
