Great lesson video, thanks for making this video! I’m so glad that I was able to get to see Gary Moore in concert on the Run for Cover tour 🎉. Rest In Peace Gary, he was one of a kind 😢
Gary was / is my favourite guitar player. I was fortunate to see him play once with Thin Lizzy, back in 1978 i think it was, at the old Hammersmith Odeon (which was a great old venue). His solo album 'Back on the Streets' came out around a similar time from memory. Gary had the best tone and played really lyrically. I rate him as the best blues player I've ever heard, and I've heard / seen a lot of the greats over the years. Gary was very special. He felt the notes he played, like no other player I've known. Thanks for the demo and lesson Sped. You got really good tone playing this. Gary would be quite happy with your rendition. Cheers from NZ, Grant. 👍
I have the pleasure of watching Gary Moore performing live "Parisienne Walkways" with his band G-Force opening for Whitesnake in London way back. The sustain for the opening note was insane!
I read/heard somewhere that he would work out on stage during sound check where he could get that note and then mark it to make sure he got it… not sure how true that is but kind of makes sense in my mind.
I've been playing acoustic cowboy chords for years and have just gotten serious about electric guitar lead and improv. I discovered Parisienne Walkways and looked at many tabs and lessons that just weren't quite right. Your lesson is perfect. Love the results. Thank you for all the work you put into it. Also your dry sense of humor. Subscribe!
Absolutely brilliant run down of Parisienne Walkways I used to love playing this (for my own amusement) but that was 5 or so years ago. Just picked the guitar back up and this is next on my list on solos to play again. I know I am 60 I don’t care.
Brilliant, love Gary Moore and this was so beautifully done. I only be learning short time and its dailing in different tones that I struggle. From my point of view I wish there was some description on how to dail in the tone on the lessons that are posted. I think it would attract a lot of subscribers the first one to go into detail about the tone on the riff they are learning, there is so little of it on RU-vid. This is the best lesson I have seen on this riff, Many thanks
It was very early in '78, as a young 18 year old blown away after listening to 'Since I've Been Lovin' You', the decision was made to play the guitar. Little did I realise, that for me anyway, what an exceptionally difficult exercise that was. Blighted by being left handed, decent guitars that fitted the needs were non existent. I remember taking my cheap, catalogue Les Paul, turned upside down of course, to a guitar teacher. He being a big Gary Moore fan, me being a devoted Zep fan; argued who was the better guitarist, neither would or could see the others point of view. Now, decades later, and having recently relearnt, due to injury, to play right handed, I can honestly say that Gary Moore touches my soul and Jimmy Page makes me feel young again. Having seen them both though, I am more in awe of Moore.
That's the beauty of them and millions of other talented musicians. They touched our souls so much that we felt the responsibility to argue their worth and talent amongst ourselves. The reality is: they were all incredibly talented in their own right and should never be pitted against each other. Neither Moore or Page would wager their abilities. They bring something totally unique to the table and I love them both.
Wasn’t expecting this one, great lesson sped as always. Would you ever consider doing the girl I love she got long black wavy hair when you do another zeppelin lesson. I love the main riff and a full lesson with the solo parts would be awesome. There’s not many lessons on that song especially the solo. Keep it up mate, love your channel it’s still my go too for learning new stuff 👍
Seen Gary on the scars tour at Manchester Apollo didn’t play this was gutted but he did play still got the blues I visited his grave near Brighton recently may he rest in peace but his music will live on 🙏
@@SpedSpedding I'm an ER nurse. I take my coffee anyway I can get it. But for reals...actual real coffee made at home or from a shop, good coffee, black.....work coffee which could be 5 minutes or 5 hours old...lotta sugar and some milk pinched from the patient fridge...
My hand always get up the same time as me, but it's a lazy bum .. it won't play anything properly, always making mistakes. Seriously though .. brilliant lesson from a truly expressive player. Yes you!
Vibrato is a difficult technique to master. Go easy on yourself. I hated mine a few years back, it was spiky and unpredictable. I’ve been working on making it more vocal and controlled.
Watch your videos everyday never disappointed in your excellent playing you are a top guitarist anyone out there get on RU-vid learn from this super guitarist who also has a great sense of humour
Hi Sped, I just wanted to say how much I like your playing and your channel, especially the Jimmy Page stuff. I used to try and play when I was younger, but I gave up because it was too hard and I don't have a guitar nowadays. There was no youtube when I was trying to learn so it was almost impossible to get things right, but oh well... Anyway, thanks again for the great videos... and thank you for the music... ;-)
You’re so welcome Peter. There was no RU-vid when I started either! I used to bury my head in magazines every week and pick bits up. I feel like many channels are becoming the modern magazines. 🤌🏻
Gary Moore....!!!....and what a good joyce (when we don't do Led Zep and Jimmmy Page).....Gary is one of the few players that i really appreciate....when i first saw him live in the early 70s he was virtually on fire....Wow....and his LP was still the original burst tomato / yellow colour....good one...carry on.....🙂
Absolutely beautiful sped . Great tutorial👍 You are truly the master yoda of 🎸 Definitely going to have to have a go at this I've been told 😁 And yes I've been told
There are several comments here about Gary's vibrato... I read a few years ago that he was actually left-handed. Some people think his vibrato was so amazing because he was fretting with his dominant hand. I can't imagine how tough it would be to learn to pick accurately with the non-dominant hand though!
If that’s true it would explain a lot. Very cool! My partner is left handed and I’m teaching her. No point her not having access to all my gear so she’s learning right handed and she’s great. Strong left hand helps with chords for sure. 💪🏻
Great stuff. It seems I’ve been playing it slightly wrong for years!! Not now 👍. Thanks for a great lesson. Any chance of showing the fast lick in the middle of the song? Thanks.
Like I said there’s several versions which move around the main theme. This is just me trying to play it like the studio version. I hope you get something out of it. 🙏🏻
Wooow Man, I love u videos, u are F**ing amazing Player, a real teacher, thanks a lot to teach. Gary Moore, its one of my favourite guitar players. U inspire to play better in the guitar. Cheers from México. Saludos y eres un chingon en la guitarra.
Nothings ever bad and never be embarrassed to have not heard of something. You can be everywhere at once. Times in the past I’ve been guilty of nodding along with something “yeah I know that” in fear of being ridiculed. Now I’m just like “I don’t know, tell me more.” Hope you like Gary’s music. 🙌🏻
@@SpedSpedding thanks too kind.. no it’s just my me, it was kind of a tongue-in-cheek comment to be honest.. it’s similar to playing a lick, I can play it but it’s a whole other level to playing it really well.. that’s why these lessons are an inspiration.. and something to aspire to.. 😁
That was a kind and generous offering, thank you. .. But next time aim the guitar straight on to the camera and we'll be able to see what you're doing FAR better. .. cheers Man, yer doin' GOD'S WORK!
Cheers Mark. People like the second angle because it gets in close and shows you things you might miss ordinarily. I flick between the two to keep a balance.
@@SpedSpedding just came back to me as you played it . That was awesome lump of wood that guitar with the thin pickups and that cool natural wood finish back
@@SpedSpedding More of the song you can borrow my fingers if yours are hurting. Man I wish I could play like that, damn you old age damn you to hell lol
@@TheGriff1958 Haha, they weren’t hurting enough to stop that was just me being me at the end of the lesson. I’m trying to keep them shorter as everybodies time is precious.
@@SpedSpedding yup ......he was you have great tone.....and your vibrato reminds me of doug aldrich..... Met him a few times.....o e time he was reading guitar magazine, in WHSmith.....he was on the cover
