Their are a few rules you forgot to add that wr play by but a good video such as the off jack and the joker which equal 6 points and you can do another bet called shoot the moon which if you succeed you can win the game with 11 point games but great job explaining the rules I was a little confused about a few things but this helped solve them. Thanks

It still is being a confusion for me. I was taught by a man at his house and he couldn't for the life of me, explain the scoring. I watched your video and it's still half of the information. The tricks (thank God I know the game spades or I'd be onto another video to understand it) are ok but you began calling something game points on face cards and such and not connecting it to the A, 2, and J... just is not being explained AT all.

To determine the winner of the "Game" point, each player examines the cards they won in that round's tricks. Within that handful of cards, "sub-points" (for clarity's sake in this explanation, I'll call them sub-points) are calculated based on the value of those cards. Tens are worth 10 sub-points, Aces are worth four, Kings are worth three, Queens are worth two, and Jacks are worth one sub-point. Cards lower than 10 have no value, for this calculation. Once every player has calculated the total number of sub-points they won that round, whomever has the most sub-points wins the "Game" point. Example: At the end of a round, Player 1 has won the highest trump card (let's say, the Ace) played that round, as well as the Jack of the trump suit. The cards he has won, including the aforementioned trump cards, include an Ace, two Jacks, a King, and a Queen. Added together, he has 11 sub-points toward receiving the "Game" point. Player 2 has won the lowest trump card (Let's say, a 4), as well as a 10, two Kings, and a Jack. He has 17 sub-points toward receiving the "Game" point. Player 3 has won two 10 cards, and a handful of cards that are lower than 10. He has 20 sub-points toward receiving the "Game" point. The final score for the round works out as follows: Player 1: 2 points ("Highest" and "Jack" points). Player 2: 1 point ("Lowest" point). Player 3: 1 point ("Game" point, since they have the most sub-points.) If any player made a bid greater than the number of points they received this round, they lose points from their overall score equal to the number of points they would otherwise have gained this round. They are "set back," hence the New England name for this game, "Setback." Example: Player 1 won 2 points this hand, but they had bid 3 or 4 points at the beginning of the round. They have failed to make their "contract" (game term), and so instead of adding 2 points to their overall score, they lose 2 points, instead. If this brings Player 1's score into the negatives, they are said to be "in the hole," and their less-than-zero score is represented with a circle around their score. They must now win two additional points to recoup their loss, before they can continue to their goal of 21 points. Hope that clarifies the scoring system.
