Here I show you some basic picking patterns for backing / playing chords to an Irish or Scottish reel, which can then be used as the basis for some more advanced accompaniment.

@@EamonCoughlanAny chance you could do a lesson on backing up say a reel in D such as the Merry Blacksmith?.Just wondering if you are accompanying a reel in say G would you capo and play D shapes.Cheers Jim

@@doodeen Ok! Maybe I can do something about accompaniment basics in terms of chord choice. For G major I''ll almost always stay in open position because it works almost as well as D (and means not playing the same thing all the time), but for something like A major or E I would capo (normally 2nd fret for both, ie. G shapes for A and D shapes for E). A major is playable in open position but you lose a bit of freedom in using the open strings. E major is just awful.

@@EamonCoughlan Your a star!.I would happily pay if you could put together a video lesson say on The Merry Blacksmith in D and The Banshee in G.These are two tunes I play on the flute.I like your style of teaching especially with the tabs etc. Also at a later stage I would love to get into Counter melody which I think is the strength and beauty of the Bouzouki.Let me know what you think.Cheers Jim
