HOW TO PLAY RYU 101 

For those of you wondering what was the concept behind that clip with Fox at the end... There's this thing called "Evo Moment 37", which happened during EVO 2004 (as said by the commentator if you pay close attention at the end of this video) in the Grand Finals of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Players were Justin Wong (Chun-Li) vs. Daigo Umehara (Ken) and at the end Daigo was running on magic pixels and even specials/supers on block would have killed Ken. Justin then used Chun-Li's Super which is a series of kicks similar to Fox mashing Neutral A but instead of blocking or jumping out of it, Daigo did the unexpected: he Parried EVERY hit of the Super then followed up with a combo, winning that year's 3rd Strike tournament at EVO. Now, Parry is a special mechanic from the SFIII series. The idea is to tap - not hold - forward the moment an attack hits (with about 3-4 frames of opportunity, maybe less), which denies all damage from the attack with no hit/block stun of any kind on the defending player and allows the character performing the Parry to recover pretty much instantly and punish. The Hype from Evo Moment 37 lies in the following factors: -Parrying is difficult as it is and Chun-Li's Super hits extremely fast, thus complicating the task even further unless you know how to do it by memory (which seemed to be the case with Daigo as it's said that parrying that Super was more common in Japan) -Daigo was in a high-pressure situation (Grand Finals of Evo, running on pixel of health, crowded room and so on) and still managed to remain calm to execute the Parry -Daigo performed something that had yet to be seen here in the west, on the Grand Finals of the biggest fighting game tournament, and won said tournament with a very clutch maneuver. Since then, Daigo has been regarded as one of the best SF players in the world and has consistently scored high spots in tournaments of 3rd Strike, SFIV and other games in the SF series. 1:48 And here, Ryu performs an EX Hadouken, and Balrog dodges it and performs Low Ground Smash. Ryu seems to have took a major dent from that move. Balrog goes for the Dash Straight, but its countered by Ryu's Focus Attack! Ryu is now just punishing Balrog, OH, he missed the throw, and Balrog falls victim to Ryu's Jumping Feirce! That, ladies and gentlemen, is game!

Can I just say, that ending actually made me smile so much.

for those that do not understand that last bit: at a championship tournament of street fighter a guy playing ryu was on insanely low health and he blocked every single frame-perfect hit of an attack by i believe a chun li player and won the match
