Just discovered this page and I’m hooked. You teach this perfectly. Not bland. Easy. And personality to add. Can’t wait to check out your other content
Another great video Davvy. Your charisma really helps get the lesson across to the listener. And I like how, while still accurate, the lessons are geared more towards showing you how to improvise within the song.
Hey man I wanna let you know that today is the day I pick up these tutorials again. It is such a treasure to have access to your lessons and your method of teaching... You're a great teacher! Also, the opening was hilarious
Que suerte, what a lucky find! Thanks Davvy. So easy and so much fun. I'm going to play it for my wife. My precious Scarlet Begonia. Love from Costa Rica!
This is a great way to learn the tunes in just a half hour or so for my local cover band. We're a 3 piece, so I love the blend of Jerrys and Bobs parts. An occasional loop pedal and I'm good to go. Thanks.
Some of the best sheet on the interwebs, LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely love these lessons. Been watch these alot with my buddy and I, we both recently got really into the dead, appreciate the content. Do you have a video/ you should make a tutorial for unbroken chain
Davvy!!! You and your lessons are always such a treat, thank you for sharing your wonderful fun -- and genuinely informative and helpful (you really are a superb teacher) -- self with us. Greatly and gratefully appreciated!
One of my favorite tunes, I liked using the Bobby part as an intro (seemed like you were sliding into D7/B10 but the tab says D7/B11). I also like the chops on the verse. Looking forward to Fire next week!
I know you kinda have to blend Jerry's and Bobby's parts, but some of what you are playing is not what I hear and gravitate to. Prime example is the "riff" in the verse. You play the 2 chords, which sound great, and then the riff- which just doesn't sound right to me. I'm not saying it's wrong. I've just been hearing what my ear has picked out for so long it sounds wrong to me. I noticed it in the Fire On the Mountain video (and commented about it there, too). But I'm really liking the videos. I'm a bass player by trade, and I've been to a ton of shows, but for whatever reason, I never bothered to learn any of the Dead's songs. Liked and subbed.
love your lessons, but I have always played that riff at the end of the verse the way Rukind has it tabbed. Rukind has the riff ending on an A where your riff ends on a B note. The A seems to match when I play along with the Dead. IDK
Somebody has probably already told you but the last note of the intro you listed as 11 on the B string and seven on the D string. It should be 10 on the B string, not 11. Otherwise, I really like how you presented this tutorial
Come on homie. This came out in 1992 on Sublime's 40oz. To Freedom album. Idk who the malarkey "Further" is or was, at least spell the word right! Man, when will you Gen. WTFers learn!??
Dude get with it! Further is Spelled correctly in this context of the Dead mixup In the same way Grateful Dead is not spelled Greatful and by the way the Dead’bus’ has been around longer and further than sublime Not saying anything about Sublime - but historically u are in the dark , bro
sky was yellow and the sun was blue!!!!! man love that 1974 cow palace show! i remember 4 am in the morning, that giant weather report suite taking me to those beautiful places. One of the best shows i have ever listened to. I even got obsessed with it and learnt jerry's solo from "deal" note-to-note. quite proud about that hehe. thanks Davvy and here it is , if you ever get time fam ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oICHOD2Q894.html
Also at 5:50, your pinky is on the 10th fret of B string, but the tab is listed as 11. But it actually sounds pretty cool that's a Bb leading tone to a B which sounds nice, so you could start at the 10 and slide the pinky up at the last minute. I'm not complaining! Just bringing up a variation maybe people could use. Love the channel!
And I think the 5th note of the outro (15:15) should be the 7th note of the D string (A, which fits the song), not the 6th note Ab (which doesn't). A rising tide lifts all boats!
You’re all good, homie. You do you, but I’m a fallible person that makes lessons out of amalgamations of versions I’ve heard and what I think sounds good. So if you’re going for 100% accurate to an album or single show, these lessons aren’t it. They’re supposed to be fun accessible lessons for folks that don’t want the stuffy nature of having to do it perfectly.
