In this video we will take a look at getting Tears Of The Kingdom up and running on any windows based handheld such as the ROG Ally or Steam Deck, running SteamOS.
This guide includes how to get Yuzu up and running as well as how to update your games and put mods into them. I will also show you how to set up motion controls through the use of Handheld Companion

NOT MENTIONED HERE: I did perform battery life testing as well. I forgot to include the footage, however battery life lasted for 1 hour and 16 mins while performing my tests (30w-13W) Running 17w running in circles lasted about 1 hour and 26 mins (timelapse recording) My apologies for not including it here. As well at this time the Steam Deck cannot be overclocked again since the latest update. I will be working on getting it back up and running though especially for my Steam Deck Thermals showdown! GPU Lock would not lock on the Ally as well, it appears to utilize the GPU More on windows vs SteamOS

Hi! Have you tried the version 1.2.1 is it good? I am trying to play on my rog ally and i cant pass the 30 fps with constantly lag, i have some mods and things to increase the performance but they doesnt work :(

Thank you for your teaching, it's been great, and I've learned a lot. However, according to your settings, the floor rendering consistently displays a straight line formed by triangles in a grid pattern. This issue only affects the floor. Do you have any suggestions?

It is on the more expensive one :) Although I don't have the less expensive version the CPU performance on them do seem to be somewhat similar. Emulation is a huge CPU bound task so you could see somewhat similar performance on the non-extreme chip. But don't quote me on that.

Honestly, not much better than how it runs now. Mainly because we are cpu limited. We get the benefit of all power going to the CPU (or mostly all) when using the XG mobile. However unless you are planning on running it at 1440p/4k The xg mobile really doesn't offer much/any benefit (3080 or 6850) in emulation performance. Other than having the excess VRAM to upscale. Hope that helps. In my 3080 review I will be touching on emulation with it

Im here again, the game run much better than before and it's really playable, just one question mate Why it just give me 15 watt only ? I tired all modes even manual but still sruck on 15 watt , i tried another games and it work perfect like hitmam and red dead 2 , but most games and yuzu even if i put 30w it shows me in game its 15w , anything i have to do maybe ? And again huge thx 🎉

What are your VRAM settings like? Try going to auto or 4gb that seemed to offer the best results of me. However I did have an issue when unplugged, I was getting worse performance. I am not sure if this is a YUZU issue or an ally power management issue. I did try running custom power plans to try and get better unplugged results but I was still getting the same results

@WinDeckTech ohhhh i just fixed , i did turn of previously the Cpu boost from power plan option, now im fine , thanks a lot , btw is there any mod can increase the stamina and heart ? Specially from the beginning 😆

Thanks for your video. I set up my game like you but my ally crashes randomly. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after two hours. Do you have this problem ? Or maybe a solution ?

You don't need to no! Edit only if you want them otherwise I say it does more harm than good being on the ally (with AC)

Super nice tutorial, So sad even though maxing most possible settings still can't play60fps, i upgraded from steam deck to ally mainly to get better FPS on totk, and it runs worse or the same on the ally,. Thanks for tutorial !

Hey there 😀 I see that channel turns to really Win related content, but this time you didn't forget about old pals from Steam Deck Linux 😉 I didn't catch up older videos, but I hope you had chance to fix your old Steam Deck and your screen is working now 🤗 About the this one... Although it's more Rog Ally showcase, it's nice that you compare it with Steam Deck so thanks again, however I might missed that, but I didn't really found which mods and what settings you apply on the Steam Deck... or as I watched working I miss this point somehow? 🤔 Let me know, thanks!

For the steam deck it should be the same list of mods I used for the ROG ally. With the lazy packs there are files for windows and Linux. Otherwise you can manually place them themselves. My steam deck is still dead but I have acquired a new one since then. The deck HD screen should be here mid this month hopefully!

Had an issue with the ally it was spiking to 95c on idle or (just downloading a game on steam) than the fans would ramp up. Turns out windows assessment tool (WINSAT) was running in the background. I think most people running docked or with a powerbank without setting a fancurve will have this issue and probably not even notice unless they are specifically watching in task manager like i did. Anyway I've got microstutter all throughout the os. Nothing really feels smooth even something like the original doom on steam runs smoother on the steam deck. If i slow pan I notice stutter (microstutter) on the deck I dont. So not sure if the chip has been damaged or it's a Windows issue. I'll try debloat it and see if that fixes it. Make sure your gpu/cpu is not locked. There was a bug going around I believe

Make sure you using the correct settings set your vram to either Auto or 4gb

You will need to hook them into the emulator. It was/is easier on yuzu but ryjuinx can be done as well

@@WinDeckTech I try to pair with the emulator but there is no way to do it. I have tried different methods and there is no way. I have only managed to make it work by emulating the PS4 controller with the handle-companion but when you are going to use the gyroscopic option in the game the left and right direction go in reverse and I cannot solve this either. Could you make a video explaining in more detail how to pair the motion sensor with Yuzu? Thank you.

Mesa drivers, more lightweight OS. Emulation, especially switch emulation runs much better on SteamOS/Linux

Dude i think in this case, its the game wich is very recent and we still dont have a good optimization for our handhelds, the game is stutering and i believe those 30fps arent even real as the game became slow in some parts saying its still 30fps and clearly the fps dropped...

@Joeybatz33 only if you have a gen 1 unmodded switch, unfortunately. At least that's how I do it. Realistically, it's all about your comfort level. I am okay morally to buy the game and then emulate on better hardware. Without necessarily dumping my ROMs every time
