This song is from the album with the same title, released in 1995. It's a simple song of only four chords and is a great song for learning and practising simple chords in a fingerpicking arpeggio style.

I was long time searching for a version to learn this beutiful song, because I´m an untrained beginner and most of the training videos are too complicated for me! But this version makes me very happy, and I practice every day! Love it! Karin (Austria)

The difficulty in this track is the alternation of one bar of 3/4 followed by three bars of 4/4. That’s what was driving me nuts trying to play over the first original studio version. This alternation is steady for the whole track. The 3/4 measurement kick in when you have to play the C chord before the G, and when you do the last hammer G-Am at the end of every verse. After knowing this the song is a piece of cake!

Thank you for the excellent video! I noticed you were wearing a headset microphone. Do you perform live with it? What brand is it? I perform with backing tracks through my Bose L1 system and have contemplated going with a headset Microphone. Just not sure how they will sound with vocals and my backing tracks. Thanks!
@AcousticGuitarIO
@AcousticGuitarIO Год назад
Hi, it's a Line6 wireless XDV75HS with the headset. I got it for the caller in the wedding band I used to play with so that she could be down on the dance floor teaching the country dances. I actually haven't used it in a few years, even though it's still wired into my mixer beside my desk. It could work for your application, but I'd personally just go with a Shure SM58 for reasons of mic technique if nothing else.

Ah yes, tabs. I did play around with some software and learn how to do it, but it's such a laborious process. Once I get some paying students back I'll start getting more proficient with the software. Thank you for your kind comment.

Thanks for making this so easy to learn. The F chord barring for me is difficult. Any tricks on mastering that?
@AcousticGuitarIO
@AcousticGuitarIO 3 года назад
Barring just takes practice, but there are some techniques that will make it a little easier. You could just play the short F on the top four strings to get your going.The biggest tip would be to make sure that your guitar is set up correctly, If the strings are too high from the fingerboard at the nut, it can make barring much more difficult than it needs to be.

I think the hardest part of this song is the occasional measure of 6/4 (or is it an additional 2/4?) that gets thrown in at the end of a phrase.

Actually there are three bars of 4/4 followed by one bar of 3/4. This thing goes on and on along the song without any skip or interruption, as in pure maths. It was driving me nuts!

Sorry I'm a bit confused when that note on the 6th string comes in on the finger picking patern. Is it after the last index note?
@AcousticGuitarIO
@AcousticGuitarIO 4 года назад
Hi Ethan, you're right, it's a little confusing. I guess I don't play that note the same consistently. You can either play it after the index finger note as you suggest, or after the ring finger note. If I play it after the index finger note, then there's a longer pause between the thumbpicked note and the index note, so that thumb-index has the same duration as thumb-index-ring. I guess it's become a feel thing for me. It's easier to play it than it is to explain it!

That is a really beautiful guitar. What make is it?
@AcousticGuitarIO
@AcousticGuitarIO 4 года назад
It was built by german luthier Heiner Dreizehnter. He died in 2016. I bought it in 2005 after having seen it at the Open Strings festival in Osnabrueck Germany. I didn't buy it when I first saw it and it haunted me for a few months. Luckily for me Heiner hadn't sold it during those few haunted month! It's my #1 guitar.
