Thank you! You make that run down to low C sound so easy! And such a nice tone from that Heckle! Love it!

Thank you for advocating for beat 3 of 3/8! Poor beat 2 has a purpose too, but the words elude me.

Very nice tutorial and is a good example of some of the details of this sometimes ornery instrument with its even more ornery reeds. Notice how helpful it is to show how to be expressive when she sings. Singing a passage is an EXCELLENT way to develop your expression for a piece (it doesn't matter how bad a "singer" you are). It is usually easier to create the expressiveness you want with your voice than on the instrument, especially if a beginner just learning about the instrument. You get that expression in your mind, and then it is more likely to come out of the instrument that way. If you listen to Louis Armstrong "sing", and then listen to his trumpet playing, they are really remarkably the same. Also, a trick some employ to learn a passage well is to start at the end, not the beginning. Such as learning the last eight bars until you nail them. Then, add in the 8 bars before that until you now have a total of sixteen bars working well. And so forth.

I think of this as 9/8, (or 9/16) due to the triplet at the end of most measures. But I've never played the bassoon, so what do I know.

What fun! Nice to play something recognizable other than Weissenborn exercises. Most definitely would love to learn more standard repertoire.

Thank you for the video! I'm very new, so I'm still struggling with fingerings and such. Is there a "trick" or maybe a trill fingering to help go from that Eb to the grace note F and back? Because the Eb has several fingers involved and the F is just the whisper key and no other fingers, so doing that as a grace note is very hard!

Boa noite, sou fagotista no Brasil, quando tenho problemas de notas graves ficarem oitavas, (tocar grave e sai a nota aguda) são causadas pela Palheta ser antiga ou muito fina. Que Deus te ajude a contornar tal obstáculo

Not a bad video, although I was kinda hoping to see the more common excerpt as well (rehearsal 43 to 45). Just one question: what sort of skill level is this video targeted towards? Because you mention quite a few fundamentals (flicking, time signatures), but I've often heard excerpts from this piece described as being quite advanced Regardless, thanks for posting this, and may your reeds be forever in tune :)
