So you said you MUST pay 2 energy for that card (17:27) but you don't have to, you only spend that energy cost if you want what is underneath the (-2 energy) symbol. Everything ABOVE that symbol still counts if you choose not to spend that energy.
Hey man thanks so much for this video. This video and the one you did on the base game were a big help to me. In my opinion the rules book is not well put together so videos like yours go a long way to helping people figure out how to play. Also I hope you do one on the wild Hunt expansion.
Can I just ask: if you took the time to review the expansions then you certainly liked the base game enough to get the expansions, right? I'm currently debating whether to invest in the base game because there's a sale going on here (not a big discount, though). I'm trying to find another game that uses a similar deck building/combat mechanism used in Witcher. Haven't come close yet. That might be what sets Witcher apart from other games.
Hi! Had my first game of Legendary Hunt yesterday and enjoyed it a lot, but I have a doubt. If the Legendary Monster uses its last card to defeat the Witcher, who wins that combat? In the case of a normal monster it flees, but since that does not happen with a Legendary Monster, what happens? Best regards.
The rules clearly state on page 20 that the player playing the card responsible for both players being on 0 cards wins the game. So both monster and witcher can juuuust crawl over the finish line which imo is a good mechanic that keeps people on the edge.

@@cthulhupresidente for witchers yes. Legendary monsters also defeat the witcher this way as they can't be driven out. Regular monsters have a special clause in that they're driven out if they "defeat" the witcher with only 0 or 1 card remaining. Basically the monster retreats, but isn't killed thus not granting a trophy. Instead, a new monster of the same lebel appears on another location. BUT the witcher still gets paid the 2 gold for dealing with the problem.
question: At 21:18, are you actually returning the correct card back to your hand since the "return to hand" icon is on the red tab and not the blue card stripe? And is it actually that card, or the current top of the discard pile, not including your current hand?
So the card with the symbol will always return to your hand so the blue card returns to my hand not the card that combos to it. In the rulebook, it’s more clarified, the card with that symbol returns to hand. There is a different symbol for drawing the top card of your discard pile is has a down arrow with a hand.
@@Njoy6969All of them. There is definitely no rule or any wording that can be read or interpreted as "Only one card can be returned back to hand". Nope. As many as you played legally.
Do you find mages are way better than Witcher? From watching the video it feels as if mages would destroy Witchers in this game. Also pretty sure the return card is the extension of the combo. Reasoning: the symbol is on the extension colour (not top left), and wouldn't make sense to always get the same card back every time.
I wouldn’t say they are way better. Actually the mages get less cards if you play with the advance cards, the mages action deck is smaller. I find the mages defence a little frustrating at times because I feel like I do need to buy some protection cards more often and I feel like I can’t always get more than three card combo off versus when I play as Wichers, I can get like a 5 to 6 card Como going easier. I also prefer the Witcher’s abilities a bit more. the mages are fine. I got to play with them a bit more to be honest. I haven’t play with them a ton. As for the card with that icon, it is the card with icon, not the card that combos to it. It is in the rulebook and it states the card with that symbol returns to your hand. I know it doesn’t make a lot of sense cause it feels like you can play it over and over again, but that’s only if you can combo it. It also can come in handy to keep return the card in your hand because that means you’re always going to be able to prevent against damage if that makes sense

@@starsofsirius559 yes I know I feel the same way. I made the mistake when I first played it to it wasn’t too. I joined the Facebook group and discord for the game so I get a lot of information there. Hope my videos help
Yeah, it's always the same card that gets returned and I honestly find it a lot more boring than rebuying another card since that offers so many more possibilities. I feel like that way intended at some point, but they realized that rebuying really good cards was too powerful and made fights too easy whereas rebuying the card itself is more balanced because no card with buyback has insane stats.
