The Wizard was one of many of my favorite Black Sabbath songs. And when I found out it was Ozzy Playing Harmonica, it blew my mind, and The Wizard instantly became my favorite Black Sabbath song.
Used to drive the guys crazy in my barracks playing this in the stairwell back in the early 70's. Bought the album, heard this song and proceeded to learn it off the album. Good stuff.
Oh man I'm so glad for your "two cents" too! You are so polite and modest as u didn't point out the errors in the others videos or focus on the flaws or even tell the situation as it is and call another one completely wrong,. Wrong key wrong notes wrong style wrong tutorial!!! (Not yours you are 100% spot on and not confusing in the least I thought it was brilliant). And I also like your shades : D. The closest to correct one of the other videos is only for the beginning portion of the song you walked us through all the parts and spoke clearly and articulately. Thanks again and love from Detroit! -Devin
@@topher198133 Hohner released their "Ozzy" harmonica in the Key of C because it's the most popular key, but, alas, it is not possible to play this song in its original key with a C harp. "The Wizard" is in the Key of A, and Ozzy is playing crossharp with a harmonica in the Key of D. I fear a lot of people will be disappointed if they acquire the Key-of-C Ozzy Harp with the intention of playing along with the recording. Considering that "The Wizard" is pretty much the only song Ozzy is associated with harmonica, one would have thought that Hohner would have produced the right instrument for it.
Have seen several tutorials from well known YT harp teachers and buttload of tabs from around the internet and none of them sounds or feels even remotely right. This one is perfect or almost perfect. Sounds like the real deal.
great thanks you are 100% correct it is in the key of D some of these guys are not playing it in the correct key, i did this song with my band back in the late 90's i was the lead singer and we did a black sabbath cover show, i had a lot of fun back in the day. i am not a harmonica player my dad was and he taught me how to play this so i can do this song on stage and when i did it for the first time the crowd went wild.
Awesome vid man & finally getting this right after all these years thanks to you. Would love to see your rendition of shine on by pride & glory. Keep rocking on man...
Great job man, thank you for this. Just getting going on my 2d full step bends and 5 months into learning. Huge Sabbath fan so this is right up my street. Stay groovy there.
Love your Version of the wizard Kitos i want to buy a lee Oscar but i see a few different D Harmonicas on Amazon are you saying in the video a Key of D harmonica in general or a Key of D Harmonica as to that Specific one because i see Key of D , D minor, Harmonic D Flat, D Major the list goes on ?
You did it right thanks a million. I can't find how to do Johnny Cash harmonica song, Orange Blossom. Can you please show us the harmonica music notes. Have a good day sir!
Honestly I've loved black Sabbath and Ozzy in general since I was a kid (only 28 now) but I'm stuck in a old soul.. I didn't ever actually listen to THE WIZARD until only one year ago.
Well done. Thank u sir. A person can learn so much from RU-vid. It's too bad they've become part of the corporate beast; pushing narratives while hiding others, so many damned comercials, de money tizing peeps that dont align with mainstream views............... ............. PEACE!!
I only have my g harp and it seems to sound fine doing it in the fourth position. I tried changing the tuning of the song to match my harp but that didn't help at all. Still a very informative video. Much appreciated
Great instruction! Getting my first harmonic and this will be my first attempt. Any advice on or keyed harmonics or is D the go to? Or general advice... thanks man
Many thanks! Me, I can only get this to sound right with a D harmonica, so long as "The Wizard" is being played in the key of A. It's worth looking around RU-vid, though, and seeing how other people attempt it.
Hi mate, can it be played with this Fender Harmonica Blues Deluxe, Key of D? I can't put the Amazon link because otherwise the comment is removed .. Because the sounds come out different ...Thanks
Hello Kitos! Great video!!! -what model of harmonica are u playing?? Thx again... -Scotty. -I found out that the worst is Hohner Blues Band... 8 bucks. (I bought one... on the video Jake was right.)
@@robertszymanski717 Indeed! For me, the difficulty with learning to bend on harmonica was that it was impossible to see how to do it or for someone to show me. It's also rather difficult to describe in words how to go about it. It's as if your mouth and tongue eventually figure out by themselves how to do it. I think the harmonica might be the only instrument you can't see while you're playing it.
Yes, you could play it with a C harmonica using this particular harmonica tab, but the problem is the notes wouldn't go along with the recording by Black Sabbath. If you could find a recording of "The Wizard" in the key of G or somehow electronically alter the Sabbath recording so that you lowered the pitch two steps, now, that would work. But attempting to play this on a C harp with different harmonica tab (i.e., blowing and drawing on different holes)...I'm not sure if you could match the notes correctly, and in any case it wouldn't sound right. At least in my opinion.
So exactly what type of harmonica do I need? I have hohner diatonic blues harp ms, 1 thru 10 holes, key of D, but in no way can I find the right key!!!!
@@kitosdigiovanni5926 So that's why I could never find the right key. I didn't make note of the bend technique. I was just focusing on the draw and exhale. Thanks for the tip!🤘
Well, it seems to me that you would need a C# harmonica using my TAB for "The Wizard." I'm not sure how easy it is to find one of those, though. Now, if you went down a whole step, you'd use a C harmonica, which, as you know, is the most readily-available key.
@@kitosdigiovanni5926 Most other vids are on the G harp... but, I cannot argue with Your results, here!!! -Real Sabbath!!! (am a beginner, with a G harp on the way, oh well)
I had to work at it a long time before my mouth figured out how to do it. The harmonica might be the only instrument you can't see when you play it, which is one reason why it's so hard to teach someone how to bend.
