This is the real thing! So may Irish fiddle tutorials are by Americans who aren't really embedded in the tradition, and don't have Kevin's deep understanding. He's that rare being - a superb performer who fully understands what he's doing and has the ability to communicate it clearly.

For years I've been devouring every piece of Irish fiddle instructional material put out by Kevin Burke. It's been an amazing ongoing process learning more and more about his style, and Irish fiddling in general.

I have heard your Sligo fiddling and I love your playing. You are my favourite. Thanks for these words on getting the Irish pulse right.. There are many like me in all parts of the world that love Irish music but it is impossible to be there in Ireland to live it. All tips very gratefully received Kevin. You are a master. This was great. I've avoided playing out with others because I could tell my "Celtic rhythm" was off, but I didn't know why. This helped me to understand what to do to get the spirit. Also, I can't imagine anyone not liking this video. Maybe classical players?

Sessions work like this... 1 or 2 people lead it, others join in, any one can start up a set of tunes, but don't over do it if your new or a beginner, usually each tune is played 3 times and 3 tunes and played together in a set.

Great tutor ...can anyone tell me why you rarely if ever come across a critique of trad players on utube however they play...while in classical music performers of world standing seem to attract all sorts of experts telling them how to perform?
