I love how your lesson is not dogmatic. In the spirit of folk music, no music police. Your a good teacher.

Oh that's such a kind comment...I very much appreciate it! A big reason why I left the 'classical' world was the music police. I could never stand the egomaniacs that failed to realize that we're all on an endless musical journey, with as many different paths as they are people on it. Thanks for your time and comment, it's very touching :)

This is, without doubt, the best tutorial I have seen in relation to the triplets sometimes, so necessary for reels and jigs in Irish music. You did a brilliant tutorial! Thank you!!!!

Thank you for making this video, it will shed some light on some aspects of Irish ornamentation. Having said that, there are some points that I would like to clarify myself, if I may. Although the term "triplet" is widely used in Irish music to refer to the "fast 3-note effect", the real name is "treble" for picked instruments (banjo, mandolin) or "shake" for the fiddle. Technically, in this context, it's not a triplet, which would be 3 quavers in the time of 2, but 2 semiquavers followed by an quaver. In ABC notation: X:1 L:1/8 % triplet (3AAA % treble or shake A/A/A

I usually play that first roll with my thumb and index finger. I find the 4-2-1 triplet much easier.

In Morrison jig, those ornaments at the beggining are not triplets, but rolls. It is base note plus one down, one up. But your technique works as well. :D

Hi Uncle Kosta cool way playing triplets thumbs up. Check out this book Essential Guide to Irish Flute and Tin Whistle (eBook + Online Audio) by Grey Larsen. Mel Bay printing. For the beginner to the highly advanced player of Irish flute, tin whistle, or Boehm-system flute. Features a simple and penetrating new approach to understanding and notating ornamentation that goes beyond any previous method, exploring ornamentation techniques never described in print before. Also includes adaptations for Boehm-system flute players, guidance on breathing and phrasing, 49 ornamentation exercises, I use this book for yrs using these ornaments on my Irish Cittern. I got a Piano Accordion from a friend 2 months ago and last week finally I got Saltarelle Awen Diatonic Button Accordion BC. I been working on long rolls & short rolls & Cranns on the button box. Cheers Uncle Kosta :)
