How to play vocal warm-ups on piano! In this video, we are diving into the world of voice lessons by learning every major chord (well, triad) on the piano. If you are a singer or want to work on your singing, vocal warm-ups are a great place to start, so I hope this video helps!

@@RockStarOscarStern634 I don't play the accordion, but, as far as I'm aware, the buttons provide the chords and the keys are for the melody? I wonder if someone has a similar video for accordion. (Or, possibly, it's time for me to learn a new instrument! haha)

@@AprilKeez Uh, wait a second, the Piano Accordion's Right Hand Keyboard is tuned like a Piano so vocal warmups for Piano will work on Piano Accordion & yes the Piano Accordion is a good add on instrument for Pianists.

Thanks April, this is exactly what I was like ok’ing for to accompany my son doing vocal warmups. If you don’t mind a suggestion though, could you move the mic so that the camera can actually show where your fingers are besides when it’s pointed down? The mic just happens to be exactly in front of middle C😭🤣

That was a wonderfully helpful video. Thank you for teaching me all the major triads! I hope to use this in my classroom with my accordion, so the fourth graders and I can do vocal warm-ups! I REALLY like your analogy of constellations for the triad shapes!

Honestly, I prefer to establish the new key on the V rather than the I. To me, it helps get the key better in our ears. Fun fact, the first scale degree (do) of the old key would be the seventh scale degree (ti) of the new key, so if I was to start the new key on the V, the do would be the third of the V chord of that new key.

@@AprilKeez It works with Guitar & of course the Bass. If a choir wanted to Sing & play Handbells (in Choral terms they're called Chorus Bells) at the same time they should learn to play vocal warmups on the Bells.

What about minor chords with the shaped- based minor chords? I'm assuming the minor ones will just be like a mirror image opposite from the major shape.

Start with the major chord and then move your middle finger one key to the left. So, C minor is an upward-facing triangle with the notes C Eb G. 😊
