I did this this morning. My time using the hair dryer was definitely shortened and my hair was so much more curlier! I walked into my sons room and the first thing he did was do the hand motion for "big hair!" Made me proud! Thanks for posting this. I am meeting a friend whom I have not gotten to see in over 10 years for lunch, so today.....my hair is SPOT ON!!!! ;-)
I did this to my hair last night, and what should I say...my head doubled its size and my hair's suddenly an inch shorter, and it looks extremely healthy! Thank you so much for this video!
Firstly... Girl, your not just beautiful inside and out, your a Goddess. After 48 years of out of control frizz, i am slowly falling in love with the curls YOU have taught me to bring to life. So many people have noticed the difference in how i wear my hair. Im learning day by day to accept and love how i have my hair now. I used to be so embarrassed. Go figure aye! I live in Australia so some of the products you use we don't have here, so through trial and error Im slowly finding products that my hair loves and works with. YAY ME! Thank you for your awesome tutorials, They have made a huge impact in my life. Now that My hair is finding itself, its time to work on the make up. Thank you Thank You Thanks you.... Trying to find out where i can buy one of those " Your beaut" hair towels... muwahhhh xxxx
Hiya, I was the same. For hair gel, I just use home-made by boiling flax seed, then cooling and straining. For towel, I have a giant sheet of muslin fabric that was actually my baby's! That was from New Zealand so I'm sure you can get similar in Australia.
When I discovered plopping, it changed my world! I was done with making my arms sore by holding a hair dryer up to my head. I was done being freezing cold with a mass of wet hair dripping down my back. It gave me beautiful hair with minimal effort- something I thought I'd have to give up on with fibromyalgia. Also, the Hair RePear towels are LEGIT. I'm so glad I found this channel! Those towels are softer than my old microfiber.
Trying this tonight! I have either 2a or 2b hair and I’m going through a hair identity crisis. My hair is straight at some parts and curly on others, so I’m trying to take better care of it. I’m pretty sure it’s because of puberty but yea Edit: I’ve been doing the curly girl hair routine for about a week and I’m thinking my hair is 2c now😅
Same issue. My hair has gotten more curl over time. Growing up it was super straight. Now its wavy like..2a but it's not consistent since been straightening for years. Now I'm trying curly girl method and hoping I can get even wave/curl so I can stop straightening
My hair is naturally about a 2c and I’m trying this for the first time tonight!!😊💕 I think my hair is a bit damaged, nutrient deficient, and was treated like it was straight hair for YEARS. I’m currently trying to get the flat roots curly like my 2c bottom. Thank you for this, I really wanna keep my curls for school Tomorrow.💕
I love this idea! When I do my skincare after my shower I never know what to do with my hair, and I end up messing it up, this is a great way to make it curlier and keep it out of my way!
Damm I have wavy hair (2a I think) it tends to look wavy and fluffy.I did this not thinking it would work because I have wavy hair. But it looks like I curled my hair it has no fluff thank you so much!
@@shaheemamn6722 have you tried the curly girl method? i don’t have wavy hair (i’m 3a), but i’ve seen some wavies do it in a modified way on reddit. you should look into it! 💓
Thank you so much for this video! I bought the towel you recommended and last night I plopped my hair and slept in it. I cannot believe I woke up to a pretty nice, manageable head of curls!! I’m 41 and have extremely thick and curly hair and this has never happened lol!! I’m going to watch some of your other videos and get some different hair products to keep on plopping!! 😁
Oh my gosh this worked! Thank you! I was honestly about to give up this whole curly thing, but your videos have been SO helpful! I’ve still got a few challenges, curls looking a bit stringy etc but you’ve made me feel way more positive than I have in a long time. Thank you!
I haven’t tried the plop before although I’ve heard a lot about it. I thought it was just an overnight thing. Good to know it can be just for 30 mins. May have to try that
i had curly hair as a kid and killed it by straightening and dyeing it so much, and i've tried so many things to get my curl pattern back. im trying this tonight and i've heard so many good things about it so i hope it works!!
Thank you thank you thank you, finally someone who knows the struggle of curly hair. You are fantastic. After watching this video I plopped my hair for the first time ever and it came out great. So I want to say thank you for taking time to show us curly girls how to get it done.
Thanks Brandi! I plop the exact same way you do, except w a king sz, t-shirt feel pillow case. I can't stand having wet producty hair touching my face, plus like you said it's out of the way while you do your makeup! 💕 Great video! Wish this was out when I was 1st learning to plop! Would have made it much easier.
I learned to plop from this video, and I am so happy I did! My hair is wavy on top, with a bit more curl underneath, and plopping gives me pretty loose curls all over. Once I plop, I do my makeup, and a few chores around the house, then I take it down and let my hair dry completely. Thanks Glam Belle!
I'm a man with naturally curly hair but it gets so frizzy, I'm definitely tell going to try this with a t-shirt tomorrow. Thanks for the tip! I've been wanting to really put my natural curls to work
Trying it for the first time today. Didn't know about this technique until I was watching "The Chase" game show and plopping was a question. I'm using my wrap I have, thank you for the video!
Whenever I do this my hair ends up looking good, but my roots end up FLAT. All the volume on the top is completely gone. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?
Oh no! A couple solutions I've heard for that is only keeping your hair plopped for a half hour or so (as opposed to all night). Then, once you've removed your towel, you can either diffuse it the rest of the way dry with your head flipped over, or you can try "root clipping" and then letting it air dry. You can find tutorials on root clipping if you google it. I've never tried it though - I don't want to leave my house with the clips in, and I never have enough time to be able to just hang around my house waiting for my hair to dry!
I’ve heard of other people tying the t shirt arms in front (rather than at the back,) so on their forehead and it apparently keeps more volume in the root :)
You sound like a news reporter, I like that, I’ll subscribe! I’m also going to try this, I’ve been straightening my hair on and off since I was 13, I’m 21 now so that’s YEARS of damage, I’m trying anything now to try and get my luscious locks back!
I love your curls, too, Brandi. And I tried this PLOP method just this past Sunday. The results were pretty darned great! Finally, here's a successful method to do the curl-products-in-my-hair-at-night routine and wake up curly!! My hair was still a little damp the next AM, but it took less than an hour to air-dry the rest of the way. The only issue I had was that the longest hair on my head, the section at the back of my head that gets pushed up and over to get into the t-shirt still came out sort of straighter than the other curly parts. Maybe I'll just have to scrunch this section more before I tie it up into the T-shirt? I'll try that and let you know!
Do you have a video on your night time hair routine? That's my biggest issue is how do I keep my already dry curls in tact if I don't want to wash my hair that night.
Careful doing overnight. Never had scalp issue in my 39 yrs & doing this once gave me wonky hair.. still damp.. and my head itched for a week. I think it can cause yeast bc the moist environment.
I've tried plopping but I don't know if my hair is long enough...Maybe I left the plop on for too long. basically the top of my head winds up looking insane...picture a small child whose curls have yet to grow out. they're like that. super curly, but they don't lay well, they just sort of stick up and don't fall to the side.
I plop my hair with a t-shirt. But it's not as tight, so my hair is on the top of my head kind of loose. I don't put any product, except leave in conditioner, on my hair before plopping. I'm going to try that today and see how it works on my hair. Your videos have helped me embrace my curls 😁. Thank you
I don’t think I could sleep in that because of the bump on the back. And don’t want to use heat from a diffuser either. Maybe I’ll wrap on the top. Love the towel. You hair is beautiful.
Ok I will definitely be buying a defuser and better product. My curls are there like you can tell my hair is curly but it is not defined at all so yea ty!
So here I am 2021 trying this and just tied a shirt on my head instead and hope it helps with the frizz and definitely gives me the curls I love will update in a few... ☺️ Edit: Definitely works and definitely going to do it more often
You are so beautiful thank you for the tips!! I have got same hair, I am the only one in the whole family so my mom didn’t know how to manage with my hair. I am interested to know how your curls look like in the next day? Mine becomes a Mess :(
Do you apply product to soaking wet hair than you plop or do you semi dry your hair apply the product than plop I've never done this but I would love to try . I want to start to take better care of my curls
Love how yours turned out! 💗 Do you find that your hair creases or anything? When I’ve tried this with a T-shirt my hair dries so fast that it will dry in the awkward creased way that it was smushed into.
Gena, I have cut up a really big T-shirt on one side so it opens out like a long piece of fabric and removed the sleeves . This works well, just need to find a way to but one of those towels and get it to australia :)
mine doesn't crease at all. But I think part of why it works so well is the towel. its so large and smooth that I don't have to worry about pieces of my hair getting caught in a sleeve. haha! I would say to try it again and start with soaking wet hair with your products. And I don't like leaving mine to completely dry so maybe just leave on for 30 minutes and then airdry or diffuse... trial and error! LOL
Your hair can never be too short for plopping. I do this about two-three times a week and i have shoulder length 3b hair. I leave it on for about 40-1hour depending on what I am doing that day.
I’ve been trying to figure out what my hair type is I think it’s curly but I’ve never used the products for curly hair So I’m trying this to see if anything comes of it
i’ve been trying to do this for the past hour, i’ve looked at about 10 videos, but every time my hair just falls out of the shirt or the towel and it’s a big clumpy mess. i’m getting so annoyed lmao
First time on your channel and I kept thinking, her voice sounds just like another youtubers... but I couldn’t place it. I finally got it! You sound like Lex from Madeyewlook!!!!!
I loved your video. I have tried plopping before I love the way my hair drys quicker. As in cold days if my hair is wet I get megrains. But I find my that when I plop my hair is fizzy at the end and it doesn't feel like I have any products in my hair even tho I have put a lot in any advice you could give would be wonderful. I have learnt to relove my curls thank you.
I've been plopping for the last couple weeks typically every evening overnight (not so much over the weekend). Is there anything I should be concerned about if I do it every day?
So if I’m doing this with a t-shirt, regardless of the size of the shirt, do you recommend it being tight/compressed on the head as opposed to a more “roomy” plop?
Your hair and you are just beautiful. Got a question though, when you plop overnight, is your hair still damp? It takes air to dry the hair, im just wondering how it dries in overnight plop.
I also have very curly hair! So my answer would be: yes. Simply because if your curls are healthier and more defined, they will go to their natural curly state
Can you just wash and condition and not put other stuff on to get the same results or similar because I would not even know what to get and I have dyed hair
