Thanks for you watching. For those that have purchased the blade, I hope this gives a better idea on how to smoothly draw the blade from your pocket. Please let me know if you have any video requests for future content.

There is another way to secure the sheath: 550 cord and a clip on the inside of the pocket. It "pinches" part of the pocket and is secure!! Just saying its an option
@EliteYouChannel
@EliteYouChannel 2 года назад
@@Odinsjewl Definitely another option. Thats very similar to the Lanyard option we discuss in the other video. All of the options I have discussed are just that, options for people to consider. It would take too much time to cover all the great ways I have seen people come up with carrying the MDv or ways I've seen other blades carried that could relate to the MDv. Thanks for your suggestion. Maybe someone else will see this and try it out.

Sheath & Holsters are just as important as the weapons, you are so right! I have a draw full of holsters to prove that. It is a unique system you have developed. The least amount of force needed to protect one's self. The MCK Fieldcraft Survival Knife also has an effective system. Thank you.

Please restock the Rhino Sheath separate purchase on the website, so we won’t worry about losing or damage it during battle or training.

Quick Review: I don't make videos. 😅 2 weeks of EDC. Pros: 1. Excellent design for the purpose quick, light, and sharp. 2 Took me sometime to adjust to its main features of being light. Location: mid section draw under belt or loop. 3. Awesome design for my smaller hand size. Cons: 1. It's different and requires use and practice. Maybe 2 weeks for a novice like me. 2. Thanks for the sheath as it works well. Like yall said no locking mech. *I added a inner clip to adjust fall into my special places, with height and angle for a Ice pick grip/draw. 100% feels better for me. A+++product/shipping Price is right for quality/design/fixedblade/purpose

I didn’t really need another knife and don’t generally edc a fixed blade, but I bought the MDV just because of the rhino sheath. This video was the perfect compliment and I now carry the knife daily. Because the kit came with a trainer, I even practice more. Great thinking backed by great design. Love to see more little training tips. Thanks!

The manufacturer Sheath actually is really good also. I love both of the sheaths. The manufacturer sheath is good for Molle and Vest, as well as clip to belt and pocket carry. Good quality with both sheaths. Love MDV + 1

Absolutely. We get lots of questions on how to use the manufacturers sheath and outside of a normal clip on there isn’t much to say. These videos are just to highlight the custom sheath. Happy you like the blade!

I like using a "palm assist" - what you called a punch grip. In that orientation, doesn't the pointy heel on the back of the handle dig into your palm? How do you use that grip without compromising your punch strength? I can resolve that by rotating the blade and driving my palm into the curved hook side, but that's a weird transition between forward grip and punch grip.

Not an expert, but it seems unnecessarily dangerous to mimic trigger discipline and hold a finger down the flat of the blade. Firearms not only have trigger guards, but the trigger isn't going to cut you if your finger slips or if the situation goes hand-to-hand. What's more, a gun will not cut you if you lose your grip and it slides out of your hands. Meanwhile, with a straight knife, handle in line with blade, all of the impact is delivered through the center axis of the grip. Thus, if your grip is loose enough, or the handle is slippery enough, the knife can slide through the grip, towards the bottom of the hand, the blade cutting the insides of your hand along the way. Much better to take the knife out with a full grip, fist around handle, and go for the face/eyes using a near under-handed grip, with palm/fingers side facing inward-and-up and the back of the hand facing outside-and-down. For me, the most ergonomic position is with my fingers/palm facing towards 10 o'clock and the back of my hand facing 4 o'clock. This position affords me comfortable and full extension at almost any angle of attack. At the same time, maintaining a clenched fist is as natural as breathing (we literally come out of the womb doing it and, when we get angry enough, naturally clench our fists until our knuckles go white). Simpler is always better.

Great points! And everything you said is somewhat correct. Especially for those who are at a beginner to intermediate level. We train individuals who far surpass that level. For you, having the most basic and safest grips as your go to, may be best. And that’s what you are speaking from. The knife was designed for my personal carry and those I train on a regular basis. As with all things, master the fundamentals and you can’t go wrong. Your concerns may or may not apply to the average person. Our goal with any education is to provide how we do things and if it helps you, use it. If not, chalk it up to a style that’s not suited for you. I personally have never had an issue. Thank you for your thoughts and for watching!!! Michael Donvito

Thank you Mike for such a great video. No non sense instruction and right to the point. I'm glad that someone finally implemented common sense and functionality in designing a knife and sheath. I will be purchasing the MDV in the next week. Unless there has been an oversight on my part, do you teach any in person classes using that MDv Knife ? I have watched other videos on knife instruction and I must say that your demeanor and application of your product is sincere and for me that is what I look for in a teacher.

Can it be carried as a neck knife?
@EliteYouChannel
@EliteYouChannel Год назад
It can be. You’d need a lanyard. It all depends on how big you are. A lot of smaller knives can be used as a neck knife. Wasn’t designed for that but it has been used for that before.

When is the folder MDV Plus One coming out?
@EliteYouChannel
@EliteYouChannel 2 года назад
They are being ground now. It’s been a giant headache getting anything manufactured during the last 1.5 years. We will be posting 4-6 videos on the new folder when we have it in inventory. They are already shot and ready for release. Just waiting on the folder to get into our warehouse. More to follow.

Mike, you did a really good job designing the MDV One Plus, it's a phenomenal knife. And I just wanted to say thank you for that. Thank you, I carry it with me every day and I feel (and I believe objectively am) a lot safer. Your design is awesome.

Thank you! I am very happy you like the design. Some get it, others dont. But I am proud how it turned out. First folding design I've come up with. I am a firm believer that if you believe the tool youre carrying will save your life, you will use it. Doesn't matter how great a design is, if you arent confident in its application, it will be useless when you need it. Thank you again for the comment and your continued support! -MDv

I have a product called " Quick Draw " that is made for kydex sheath. It was made for your pistol, but it also works perfect for the Scallywag knives. I have the rescue knife, Krambit and the boarding axe. ( I also have some of there folding knifes. ) I met the guy from Scallywags at the Blade Show in Atlanta. And I am hooked. They make amazing products.

Mike can you carry the rino sheath in your waist band, or behind the belt in front cross carry. thanks
@EliteYouChannel
@EliteYouChannel Год назад
Preston. You can carry it behind the belt buckle with the hook locked into the first belt loop, or carry it IWB using a lanyard method. I have carried it IWB without a lanyard but you need to have a good gun belt on that is tightened enough to secure the knife. I cover both of these options in the following video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-btGpVzi3HS8.html I demo how I would carry it, how to deploy from those positions, and give a few details on making sure the knife is secure. I hope this helps. -MDv

Do you not sell in a kit anymore? Thanks
@EliteYouChannel
@EliteYouChannel Год назад
Skallywag does not sell the MDV in a kit anymore. This change happened when we released the damascus and aluminum MDVs. We had multiple customers request the D2 version to not be in a kit anymore and be able to purchase multiple versions of the MDV with or without a trainer. Craig, the owner, and I discuss this topic in the following video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XTf1IV6tyqU.html It will be the first question discussed in that video. Currently there is a Blem sale going on. You can purchase the MDV for $80. Make sure you select Blem MDV + 1 fixed blade in the dropdown menu.
