How to Polish Marble Tile Edges

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. I have a left over piece of marble from kitchen remodel counter top. This extra piece, 3 of 4 sides is already polish, I just need to polish the 4th side. I was feeling hopeless as I am not familiar with tools etc. But seeing this video, I am highly optimistic...I can do this!

Hi I was a bit surprised by the amount of slack in the grinding wheel, but as you are new to angle grinders I wondered if you had put it on right. When you drooped the back washer it has a raised bit in the middle that centers the wheel, if you put this on backward it would account for the wobble. Both the rings are changeable to fit different size centers so you have to check which way makes the disk fit best.

Excellent tile work. Very precise. The pattern looks like a basket weave. Great look. I am trying PVA discs to polish mild steel. These discs are somewhat delicate and will disintegrate easily if abused even a little hence the "spongy" name. So far it has promise. I will go to 600 grit also. They go up to 800 grit. They sell a package of various grits from 40-600 at Harbor Freight which is only $15.00. I would suggest you change out the grease in your grinder. It sounds like it's needs more/better grease. I just changed out the grease on my old, very abused Ryobi grinder and it sounds way better and works smoother. The grease that was in it was probably the lowest quality possible and there was almost no grease on the teeth of the gears. White lithium is good. I used a black Moly bearing grease which works fine.

Great video. Just wondering if you think or (can recommend) this grinding technique to shave off about 1/8 to 1/4 inch on my marble countertop? Buying a new fridge and noticed the width is not wide enough and I really don’t want to cut It off. Thanks

Might be a bit easier if the grinder is clamped or put in a vise and the tile moved against the wheel; or clamp the tile down so both hands can hold/maneuver the grinder. Good video. Thanks.

Thanks, this is useful. I guess you could also cut the tiles with a 45 degree bevel to avoid an exposed edge.

My marble is still like a rock it isnt smoothed like the one in the video how much would it cost to get it smoothed?

Just came across your video...really nice! Just wondering if I wanted to get a more glossy finish, would I just keep going up in grit size on the sanding/polishing process and/or would I use some kind of compound to make it shinier? Thank you 😊

Another great vide 👍🏻 question, I have granite counter tops but have a "somewhat" shine-gloss to them but when you pass your fingers over it it's not smooth feeling and the shine is not really that bright. I have bought products from the big box stores to " clean and polish" but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? I looked at several videos on buffing and polishing but looks to me something I would who is experience in taking a look and seeing exactly what the issue is and what needs to happen to correct it. Any thoughts

Good video I will add you should clamp the marble down make sure you put a piece of wood so you don't scar it. Or have the grinder clamp down safety first

Are you sure the whole wheel is out of balance? or is it just the miss fitted label that makes it look that way??

I bought a cheap harbor freight grinder for $15 years ago. Sounds nasty like yours - it’s been going strong for 10 years of regular use. Go figure! Nice video.

I would check to make sure you have fitted the parts to the spindle correctly and made sure the disc is centred correctly too. No tool should be that far out of true!!!

i bought a black galaxy marble for bar kitchen decoration but i forget to polish the upper part is this is necessary ?

How many pieces of tile can you polishing before one of them gets worn out?

Wheel on the e grinder wasnt centered thats why the wobble, not grinders fault

My dad had someone sand down a marble corner in our bathroom that was murdering us with its sharpness. The guy did not polish the marble at all...do you think a newbie could polish it, or should we hire someone?
