How to Powder Coat Brembo Brakes, Disassembly and Rebuild - Ep 39 

Outstanding video. Got a like and sub from me. I appreciate you taking the time to make an actual how to video that didn't make me yell "get to the fucking point!" at my computer. The end result looked great.

Brother, I never comment, but I am driven to at this point. I am 36 yrs old and have lived my entire working life as a low volt tech. I started with security and fire suppression systems including cctv and ip cams before they were affordable for the average joe. Basically in my area, I've installed all the lowes, walmarts, Harbor Frieghts, home depots, dg's, tractor supplys, etc...you get my drift. Thing is, I've also had open heart surgery 3 times, and still at the moment considered terminally ill...so I went to what I call light duty and worked as a cable tech for suddenlink contractors until I died again and had to be pulled from a pole with a cherry picker in 2017. Ive been disabled and hating my life, besides thanking God for what life I still had haha...anyway bub, what I'm getting at is THANK YOU FOR ALL THE KNOWLEDGE YOU SHARE!!!!!!! Because of the info you and the guys in Colorado at 710 Performance has shared, I have built my own powder shop, almost ready to open, and am genuinely motivated to DO WORK daily again and I spent YEARS feeling all was lost and I would never earn again....I have only a few more things to fulfill in and for my shop and I'll be at it again. Whats more is the local shops in my town are stoked and feeling like their own prayers are being answered simply because a local powder shop is opening and can improve their body shop turn around time. Not sure where I'll end up or how it will all go, but THANK YOU had to be said. I know I have a steep hill to climb still, but you and 710 gave me knowledge I can use and AM using to bring usefulness back to my existence. Thanks bub, more than you know.

I don’t separate the casting until all the pistons are removed. Each pistons the pops out, I use a large Powdercoating plug and a clamp in the location and keep repeating till all pistons are out. Takes about 5 minutes to tears down a caliper completely.

Great video once again! If i can give you a little advice for mounting the seals and the pistons back into the calipers... Use ATE brake cilinder paste, doesn't cost much and for sale on Amazon i believe. Brake fluid never has or will be lubricant. It works... Many people do it like this, but for the best use the paste. It has two advantages to it: It doesn't ruin your powdercoat job if you might spill it and it doesn't attract water like brake fluid does. Keeps the stuff from not corroding. Hope this is helpfull like your how to's are to me.

Rubber grease is what you use to put them back together brake fluid will work as it goes I the clippers good job on the rebuild love your work and its very helpful

I have an idea for you, make some plates for the machine flanges, bolt them in place once before sandblasting and remove after curing... also the longer books might work or just some plugs for the bleeder holes. Otherwise, amazing work.

Great how to. I've taken my suzuki's Monoblock Brembos apart before and they were a pain in the butt compared to these since mine dont come apart in 2 halves like these and my new genesis brembos are monoblock as well so im suiting up for another fun ride 😅😅🙄😭

get a 10mm line wrench to help prevent stripping out the fittings they are open just enough to slip over the line and grab more of the nut

They make an assembly lube specifically for assembling calipers, its silicone based.

Quick question what’s the cheapest way to put logos on calipers before power coating or any automotive parts?

Awesome video and very helpful I know you mentioned in the description that you used 30/60 green diamond blast media. What do you think about Kleen blast media (size: 30/60 Mesh, Type: IRON ALUMINA SILICATE) ? Would that be safe to use ? I am sand blasting brembo brake calipers as well off of a Cadillac CTS-V.

Do you powder coat the plastic center lug nut cover on some of the newer wheels . The center cover usually a heavier plastic held on with 2 along screws

fantastic as always, do you flow out then sometimes re coat to get the cover correct on the part .Was the brembo one coat?.

Why do you pull the bolts and plugs out before you cure?

Most (if not ALL) rubber brake parts will expand when they come into contact with any kind of petroleum product, causing the pistons to seize. Definitely ONLY use clean new brake fluid.

How did you do it with the crossover line? I was waiting for you to show that lol I got some calipers that have that like rubber or idk what it is on them and Idk how to go about doing that part

What’s the head resistance of the powder coat? I see most powders only withstand 200f which is nothing what a caliper is going to get to. So is this just going to burn off?

I didn't know brake calibers were that simple. Is it the same work proces on faktory calibers?? They end up looking great...

be alittle more generous with the brake fluid coat the inside of the caliper it will slide in easy and you want have that piston go in hard.

To anyone doing coatings for profit, it would be a worthwhile investment to get a set of high end steel and also aluminum flare nut / crowsfoot type wrenches for the brake lines and ornamental coated hardware on various wheels that are super delicate. I occasionally do ceramic and powder coatings on custom radiator/fuel/nitrous hard lines with multi piece aluminum ends. Standard combination wrenches instantly destroy the delicate anodized surfaces. The flashy brembo and aftermarket calipers have lines and flare nuts often made out of exotic inconel metal blends, some hundreds of $$$ to replace if damaged, much more than the cost of a proper tool.

Why did you strip them and blast them why not just blast them it would have taken all that crap off
