*100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*

Need Help. We travel out west from the east with our travel trailer .Tired of the ice thing and having to deal with the water damaging food. Looking at a 50 liter frig for the back of our Suburban but don’t want to put ant extra strain on it’s battery . Would having a battery in a box with 12 volt adapter be sufficient for at least two days of power from a standard battery? Would be hooking it up to a charger every night for conditioning at the campgrounds. Trying to be cheap with a standard battery and this set up would only be used once or twice a year. Thanks for any info

hi Mark, Thanks for your comment! I would find out the specs of the fridge you want to run, how many AMPs does it draw and then base your set up off how long you want it to run for. E.g. If you fridge pulls 2 Amps an hour and you have a 100Ah lithium battery, you can drain that down to 80% so you have 80 useable amp hours which means a fridge pulling 2 Amps continuously, in the suggest ambient temperature should run that fridge for 40 hours. Thanks for watching, Accelerate Off-Grid Touring

I think some fridges have a built in cut out in the fridge itself to save the starter battery

Your charge controller has, obviously you can't run your fridge without a controller.
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring Год назад
Thanks for your comment! Yes, some 12v fridges do have built-in low-voltage cutouts. It is still not recommended to run these off your start battery alone due to the battery not being designed for this application.

You comment that factory wiring is sometimes too small. Please advise what gauge is recommended to wire a cigarette type fitting to a separate 150Ah AGM battery in caravan? Thank you.

Hi D M - Thanks for your comment! We recommend a minimum of a 6mm Twin Core automotive cabling for fridge applications. Hope this helps!

On a centre console fridge (bushman roadie) can i simply cut off the cigarette lighter ( merit) plug and then connect that to my lithium battery behind my seat and or fuse box
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring Год назад
Yes, it is possible to remove the plug & hard wire the fridge but I would check with the manufactures warranty specifications. In some cases, modifying the leads may void warranty.

Hi What size cables should i have in my caravan to charge 2 lithium batteries, 150-170 amps each? The manufacturer wants to use the minimum 6mm wire but i've been told that is too small. How thick is 35mm2 wire? is that measuring the copper wire or the external insulated diameter ??? TIA joe
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring Год назад
Thanks for the comment! 35mm2 is the cross sectional Area of the the copper strands.. Essentially it is classed as a 2B&S Automotive battery cable with a current rating of 150amps. Depending on the DCDC charger used and cable run would determine what size to use.

Question for you if you don't mind. I'm doing my own van conversion and have installed a power system consisting of 3 12v batteries to run the fridge, water pump, and charge phones and such. I went with an AC charging system that is run by either a true sine wave inverter or shore power, to charge the batteries. the inverter is set to turn on while the vehicle is running, charging the batteries as we drive. The problem that has arisen is, while the charger is on, it sends my refrigerator into a bit of a frenzy, with the temp. display jumping all over the place. I also can't use my cell phone if it is plugged into the batteries for charging. is this being caused by the charger? when the van is off and the charger isn't operating, everything works fine and no issues.

@accelerateoffgridtouring 3 года назад
Hi there, due to the complex nature of van power systems, it is extremely difficult to advise on the best solution for you without seeing the set up in person. We would suggest consulting with your local 12V specialist for further assistance. If you are local to our area, we would be more than happy to help you out, please feel free to contact us on 1300 227 353 or info@amae.net.au.

Can you charge a lithium ion 12 volt battery from your alternator?
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring Год назад
Thanks for your comment! We would recommend referring to the Lithium Batteries manufactures specifications. Lithium Batteries used as an auxiliary battery require a DCDC charger fitted between the alternator & battery.

Kindly advise me which 12 battery protector for the fridge 80amp or 40amp do I need?
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring 4 года назад
Hi there, it is difficult to recommend something without knowing the full extent of the system, but we will try to offer some advice. If you are fitting a battery protector to just your fridge circuit we would recommend the smallest one possible with a fuse rated to suit your fridges amperage. If you wanted to fit a battery protector to your entire battery system you would need to work out your total amperage at one time, running your common appliances, and fitting one to suit. For further information, please feel free to get in touch with us at 1300 227 353 or info@amae.net.au.

Can you do the extra battery w the dc dc charger AND the solar panels?
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring 3 года назад
Yes, you can charge an Auxiliary battery with a dcdc charger and Solar operations. Usually most higher quality DCDC chargers have a built in solar regulator for this option. Some chargers however will prioritise solar charge over DC.

Hey plz answer!? I got a 12v freezer and a 300wh powerpack. The return window has passed for the powerpack so I'm stick w it now... My question is, is it really dangerous what I'm doing health wise? .. I'm at work 12 hrs and powerpack seems to work for only about 5 hrs and when I get back the temperature of freezer is around 21 degrees. I turn generator back on and freezer gets back to temp... Tho it seems to stay at 10 degrees for several hrs before climbing back to 0. Weird ... Is this fine as long as the food still taste good or am I eating poison cuz of all the degree changes the food undergoes??? I don't care if it's poison as long as isnt killing me without me knowing basically. Thank you, sorry for long explanation

Hi Adam, it is difficult to offer recommendations without being able to inspect the full system in person. We would suggest getting it checked out by your local auto electrician or 12V specialist to ensure the system is appropriate for your purposes.

Thanks for this, quick question is there any issues having two regulated solar panels, say 250w each, (I have a single 250w) feeding into a auxiliary battery via a "two to one" anderson plug. Reason is I have a large fridge/freezer and I want to "boost' the battery charging with the extra amps from the solar panels, whilst the fridge is running off the auxiliary
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring 2 года назад
If you are running 2x solar panels of the same size it is recommended to run them via the same regulator
@MonkeyKing3333
@MonkeyKing3333 2 года назад
I do this, two panels each with seperate controllers to a 2to1 anderson. I let the controllers pick up the battery level before putting in the sun. It's not recommended because some say the controllers might not align but so far so good when the battery is full both controllers stop charging.

Have a noco 240V smart charger and a 120W inverter. Can I charge the auxiliary battery using cigarette socket->inverter->noco charger. Noco charger has got input wattage of 60 watts
@accelerateoffgridtouring
@accelerateoffgridtouring 4 года назад
Factory cigarette socket wiring is undersized for the charging applications in most vehicles. Unfortunately you cannot charge an auxiliary battery via an Inverter running a 240v battery charger, this is inefficient and you will actually flatten your input battery quicker then it accepting any charge. As it takes a-lot of 12v to make 240v to then step it down to 12v again there will be massive power loss in this system. If you wanted in vehicle charge I would recommend a in vehicle DC-DC charger.

@@accelerateoffgridtouring I was told by someone else that if it's a 500 watt or the jackery 1000 watt or comparable solar generator It will run the fridge and keep it self charge while plugged into 12 volt or you can buy a solar panel and have that attach to your roof or if you're the boondocking set out in the sun but thank you for responding
