How To Power Wheelie a Motorcycle (The Easiest Way) 

I finally got around to making this video. I’m very iffy about power wheelies, I feel like they’re a good tool to learn the process of getting the wheel off the ground but if you want to progress with your wheelies I highly suggest you learn how to clutch up. Good luck and stay safe! 😁👍🏻

Cool tips. Power wheelies are harder on sportbikes because they make their power high in the RPMs and 1st gear goes to like 100mph. Do it on a naked like a fz 09, hypermotard, superduke, mt10 etc and u will not have to be yanking on anything. Just give it throttle and the front will rise easy and smooth.

I have been riding for 3+ years with 3 different bikes. Currently have a bmw s1000rr. I have always been skeptical about learning wheelies because the clutch up just makes me nervous. Now that I know I can learn using the power wheelie method I’m gonna start slow. Thanks for this video

I think as a beginner wheelieist (think I've just created a new word), that it is the other way around. That is, it is easier and safer to learn clutch ups. I personally believe that you get a better feel for the front end lifting on a clutch up. Power wheelies are sketch AF! As you said @SALTxTHExWOUND, power wheelies are unpredictable. I started out on clutch ups and then I tried power ups. Horses for courses as they say. I have a heavy litre bike with stock final drive and it'll only clutch up in first and second (barely in second) and will only power up in first (no yanking on the bars or standing on the pegs before then bouncing on the seat. Just throttle). I do get a higher lift with a clutch up however, the throttle response is smoother and therefore more predictable. To assist with a power wheelie, have the engine speed (revs) sitting close to the point of peak torque (e.g. 7000 rpm. On my bike). Momentarily close the throttle, just before you gun it. The front will lift! It may lift violently, so be ready to close the throttle and cover the rear brake pedal.

I always see you are on the front pegs. Thats always how i did them. I do notice some people go one on the front and one on the rear. I could do them that way but preferred the front pegs

Loved power wheels on my ‘02 zx12r, but started clutch wheels on my ‘95 Ninja 500r. Oddly enough I find power wheels easiest on twin engines with peak torque at lower RPMs. I miss that Ducati Monster S2R. Power wheels all day.

2021 mt 09 does power wheelies and has settings so it wont go high enough to loop your bike best thing ever when you chasing out your first gear wheelie and put it down smoothly with the quick shifter into second gear its wonderful!

When attempting power wheelies please remember to cover the back brake it could save you and your bike 👍

Part of the reason I’m watching your video is because I accidentally power wheelied my Z1000 in 1st gear coming out of a corner being a bit aggressive with the throttle .I didn’t panic but it felt so unexpected exciting and frightening all at the same time luckily I covered the rear brake but now I want to actually learn because I was on an adrenaline rush after that. It’s happened to me before but this time I brought my bike higher off the ground which was a surprise. I’ve never been one to emphasize doing wheelies on a bike I just never cared for them but now I want to learn. Great content brother keep doing you.

In my experience, achieving a wheelie on any bike is easier and smoother by shifting toward the back of the bike, and "throwing" the entire body weight back vs what many people do, which is being more forward on the bike and trying to pull up with mainly the arms.

Gsxr 750 is a great bike for wheelies. Good low to mid range power. I rode my buddy's 750 . has a better balance point than my 17 gsxr 1k . thanks for the lesson👍

My ZH2 wheelies easily, though I tend to do my best at preventing this. Riding out power wheelies when cresting a hill is wild man 😂

Just some extra tips. When you do a power up I started with rolling on the throttle and pulling up. I would sometimes get the wheel up but barley. I had to snap the throttle and pull up at the same time. Take it slow start by rolling the throttle until you’re comfortable to snap it. I ride a 2016 GSXS 1000 btw

I looped my bike, and I was probably on one of the best street bikes for beginners to learn to wheelie, a suzuki sv650, lots of torque low down but not a whole lot of power.... I think I had been trying to clutch up for a while and just wasnt getting it so decided to try to power wheelie..... LOL

Been trying to lift my front wheel by going full throttle on first gear but just realized I wasn't pulling the handlebar at all, instead I was like sitting all around it I'll try it later on my 600.. Hopefully no loop

Nice, that’s how I started learning to get the front wheel off of the ground.😄 I can only get it to do it in 1st gear on the 600. Don’t have that much torque.

Worse part about power wheelies is higher the gear you need higher the rpm, which means higher speed depending on your setup

I accidentally power wheelied on my first ride I was banging gears on the highway and popped that front wheel up when I shifted into 3rd or 4th and hit the gas. Scared the piss out of me

Ive seen guys on this same bike be in 4th gear and just roll it back at 70mph and it lift the wheel into a good power wheelie without pulling up. They be leaning up in riding position and it lift

How I power wheelie on my Daytona 675 in first: at 10k RPM close throttle all the way, then full throttle. Easy. No jerking necessary.

I power wheelie in 3rd gear on my dirt bike. I did about 200 feet the other day.

My honda hornet 900 will powerwheelie in 1st gear. I relax the gas and thats its. It aint no rocket but its got grunt so its got that going for it.

1200s Bandit "tuned" has so much low and mid range punch it's hard to keep the front down 🤪 on the freeway I don't have to downshift just roll on and it pulls hard

What is the minimum power needed to do a power wheelie in your opinion? Got a GSX S750 35kw (A2) and I didnt even try.

my Kawasaki Z900 is just too powerful in first gear so 2nd gear is ok for power wheelie

If you get it to balance point you could keep it there and go slower.. but yep gota be comfortable..I never like clutch ups I get diff sprockets and jst snap it and balance ..ev...is different

hey salt, i have same bike 2017 i have to put my chest on the tank first...it compresses the forks for a good bounce.. and arch my elbows and then pull up otherwise it just bunny hops, but i got it to where its coming up i just can't stay up very long lol im guessing more practice

This feels like rocket science. I got a 690cc bike and it can't lift the wheel an inch upwards, I think my safety electrics interfere with it even they are disabled

I know you said 30mph in 1st gear right before pulling up but do you use all the rpms in 1st when getting it off the ground? I usually shift at 6000 rpm haha

You don’t need to jerk on my gsxr 1000. The power will lift the bike on acceleration alone, lifting continues until you let off the gas.

Hey i did a wheelie today and slammed the front pretty hard, thought I heard something and now it feels a bit more vibraty, also when I when I'm on my bike I would have to tip toe to back it up since I'm short but now I feel like more of my feet can touch the ground like my bike is lower?? just learned how to power wheelie my scrambler in 1st but i cant get the front wheel up in any other gears and clutch ups are too dangerous in my opinion plus they ruin the clutch

So I have a 2019 CBR600RR. Can power or clutch up 1st gear super easy, having issues with 2nd gear clutch ups though. Was the same issue with my 06 GSXR 600. My 04 636 though, 2nd and 3rd gear clutch ups all day down the highway. Any suggestions?

I was with a friend at the lights I said lets do a drag race. So i went full throttle and I hit the maximum rpms on my bike so the front wheel started to get a little bit up. Dude that shit scared the shit out of me lmao after that i never went to the max rpms ever again XD. After that whenever I'd pull the throttle a little i was thinking the front wheel was coming up shit traumatised me instantly 🤣🤣

If you shift from dirt into second as you hit the gas it would come up super easy and smooth....something to try.

Buy a 1000ccm bike like R1 or GSX R1000 and you can do powerwheelies till 3rd. Gear without any steer pull!!!!!

Late to the party, but am the only one that is terrified of clutch ups? I feel like im gonna lose grip of my handlebar because 2-3 fingers are on the clutch as im jerking the bike back. Powerwheelies i can do no prob because then i can firmly grip the handlebar. S1000r btw
