The ROSARY in a year?! Let's go!!! I used your instructions exactly from your last video about this from like 2 years ago when I was 18. After those 12 months, I now pray the rosary daily. It must've been 700+ days that this hopeful podcast has been on my radar..! Woohoo! I started counting the days from about November 2022 (1 OF, 3 HM, 1 Glory Be) and finished by October 2023 (intro prayers, 5 decades with mental prayer, closing prayers). In the present, I've now been praying a full 5-decade rosary for 12 months (13 months as soon as it becomes November) I cannot recommend this way of learning to pray the rosary enough if you are struggling with making it into true habit and true prayer. I remember trying to pray the 54-day novena maybe 10 months before truly beginning Fr. Mark's instructions on learning to pray the rosary over a year. I prayed it, but I was struggling a lot. Now though, praying the rosary is so wonderful and remains central to my day. Don't get me wrong, prayer is still a battle, but praying the holy rosary is no longer an obstacle but rather is my weapon. God bless you Fr. Mark, the whole team behind this, and everyone who's ready to learn to the rosary! Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
Wow that's awesome, praise God! So affirming for all of us to hear that this approach to the rosary has had so much fruit in your life; please pray that it has the same impact in millions of other hearts!
Thank you so much Father for the Rosary in a Year Podcast! How exciting! I cannot wait......we need to promote the Rosary❤...lots of love from South Africa 🇿🇦🙏
The rosary has been saving me from my addictons to drugs and pornography. I try to pray it every day and bring it with me everywhere I go. The rosary is one of the best gifts I ever received.
Get Gabe Castillo for a guest appearance!! This man is my internet spiritual father and got me praying the rosary regularly even before my conversion. It led me to freedom from sin and a close relationship with our Blessed Mother. Thank you, Ascension for doing this, and thank you, Gabi for your spiritual fatherhood.
Great stuff! I've had times where praying the rosary was a challenge. I now find myself looking forward to praying all 4 mysteries each day. I wouldn't recommend starting with 20 decades a day of course, but I find that saturating my day in prayer, one decade at a time, has been tremendously fruitful. Some other key things that help are: learning about the spiritual fruits of each decade, pausing before the next Hail Mary if you find your heart drawn to pray for someone or something, and to the best of your ability... placing yourself in the scene of each decade as you pray it.
How wonderful! Mother Mary pray for us! I started praying the rosary every day three years ago, but some days its a struggle. I pray this will bring more people around the world to pray the rosary!
I’m really looking forward to this! A deeper prayer life/relationship has shown up a few times in my life lately. A blessing to be guided by Fr Mark-Mary. Thank you for this and God Bless all!
This will be a great blessing for me. I have been saying the Rosary for many years. I would enjoy saying the Rosary with others and having a more in depth understanding of the Rosary. Thank you!
I love the rosary. I just need to do it every day. Listened to Bishop Barron’s podcast on the importance of prayer with Tammy Peterson and I loved when he said that praying the rosary is useless and we must take time to be useless at times. Obviously it’s not “useless” but sitting for half an hour or so and repeat a prayer can make us look useless to other people.
@@Divinelywriting it's my favorite useless thing to do! I tend to only do one decade at a time and space them out throughout the day. It's the best way I've found to pray all 4 mysteries each day.
Father Mark and Ascension Team 💌😀what wonderful news 📰!!!!!! I am already praying one mystery of the rosary almost every day with my husband, but this will be so valuable to help us find more depth and relationship with Our Lady and God☺️👍🏻🤍 Thank you and may God bkess you all. See you in January!!!
I learned it myself, on the way home from work on the city bus. I was a CCD kid. Not considered it worth it by Catholic school types. I pray it everyday. I use bible, Don Dolindos book, and rosary book put together with JP2&St. Teresa of Avila's words.
Thank you Father Mark Mary. I have been praying the rosary since childhood and still pray it everyday. I pray it at home in the morning, while I'm walking and every time I think I will not be disturbed.
When I started praying the rosary again, I would do one decade at a time. Now when I say the rosary, I will say the full five decades. Like everything else, it is something that takes practice. I had to be patient in praying the rosary so it didn't become repetitive or mechanical like Father mentioned.
For anyone else , a dedication to the seven sorrows of Mary is very awesome for TEACHING you what it means to meditate as a Christian. I recommend strongly the original Carmelite version with only 7 Hail Marys in total . You may think , what , only 7? The point is not the amount , it’s the power behind it . With the carmelite version you read scripture , you sing a short hymn for each sorrow , and you place yourself in the scene with Mary . Holding her hand and talking with her about how she felt .
I’m going to take this New Year attempt of watching and participating in saying the rosary. I tried it a few times in my life and never gave it my full attention. I am so glad I saw this, Thank you❣️
I can’t wait for this next in a year segment. Wow, you nailed so many key points, that I was feeling and not doing. I can’t wait to embrace this in the new year. I will start now identifying my disconnect and how I can fall in love with the rosary and our mother Mary ❤
This is wild because the Lord (and Our Lady) just put it on my heart to start making videos doing a sort of Ignatian style contemplation with the Rosary and the Daily Gospel readings. This podcast is going to be so good.
Back to the basics! Always a good practice. I say my rosary at night and it has become a very fond and loving time in prayer before I sleep. My mind often wanders off….sometimes in needless “junk” and sometimes lost in thoughts of the meditation of that mystery. “Presentation of the Infant Jesus at the Temple” - so many questions! What was that moment from Mary’s perspective? Did the temple rabbis have ANY idea about this baby? Yes - I think this may be PROFOUND to gain further insight into these prayers of the Rosary. Can’t imagine an entire year of this Father, but count me IN!🙏🏻
The last two "in a year" have been amazing, looking forward to the new Rosary in a Year. Please forgive me, but, are there any plans to do the Liturgy of the Hours in a year? Using this same approach to slowly build up to praying the Psalms from the heart of the Church. Thank you and God bless you and Ascension Press!
Lord Jesus I seek you everyday I have faith, but yet the devil is attacking me because I am fearful. Both of my sons have special needs and I struggle desperately trying to support them as a single mom. I put my children first, no matter how tired I am. Jesus continue to give me strength to keep going. Lord as I struggle, to provide for my children, please grant me strength.❤️
Praying for you and your children. I’ve worked with adults with developmental disabilities for 20 years or so and I saw firsthand how it affects the family, both positive and negative. I pray that you find the strength and support that you need. God bless you.
I can't wait for this to start! I love to see emphasis being placed on these practices again. They were missing from my formal Catholic education and they are so necessary. Fortunately, both my mother and father were dedicated to praying the rosary and novenas, and I learned from them. In my opinion, they are vital tools for us still here on earth. So many who've never been exposed to the rosary I think are going to love this, and thanks to Fr. Mark Mary will take to it like a duck to water. 🙏💙
Yesterday i was praying the rosary but it was after the office and after the catechesis and then while praying in the chapelle i was so exhausted and falling asleep and i tell Jesus in the eucharist im sooorrrry for being so sleepy in prayer and i look down and the bible its gospel of jesus in getsemani calling out his disciples for being sleepy 😂😂
I'm in OCIA, so pretty new to the rosary. Is it ok that I consider it separate from the personal, direct prayers I make to the Father and Mother? Like after I pray my rosary, I'll then pray directly to God and Mary about my personal concerns, sins, etc. I find that the rosary really instills in me a deeper love for the Mysteries and love for Mother Mary herself than just personal prayer alone. It just does something special for my heart and attitude that's hard to explain 🤍🙏 Really looking forward to this series, Fr!
I would say you can do what feels right, both are totally acceptable. I'll often pause after a Hail Mary to pray for someone or something that is on my heart in the moment, and I'll pray outside of when I'm praying with my rosary. I don't know if you are aware, but there are often Spiritual Fruits associated with each decade. Sometimes it can be really nice to meditate on those, or on the scene of that specific decade, or on anything else that comes to your mind that draws you closer to Jesus and Mary.
Thank you. I say the rosary every day around 3 p,m. But I sometimes feel an emptiness, wondering if there is any value to this constant repetition. On a merely practical level, I wish there was a unique mystery for each day, rather than repeating the same mysteries to cover a full week. I also wish they were in the order of Christ's life. But they aren't. You are right that we need to KNOW what is going on so the discipline doesn't become brittle and break. I do have a suggestion for others. I went onto the internet and downloaded pictures that represent each mystery, so I have a visual aid to focus my mind. I put the pictures into a binder that I keep next to my chair. What is my weakness is that I just don't know a lot about the events covered by the Mystery. For example, Mary's assumption into heaven. We are to focus on this even when doing a decade of the rosary. But all I know is that Mary supposedly went to heaven while in her body (a great honor reserved for very few in the Bible). But that's all I know! My mind has even visualized her taking an escalator or elevator to heaven. My mind also pictured Mary on the back of a pterodactyl . It can get silly. Then when I thought about Mary being crowned queen of heaven, my mind pictured her waving to angels from the balcony of Buckingham Palace! But without firm theology behind each mystery to rely upon, the contemplation on some mysteries is rather thin. Catholics know a lot less about the Bible than most Protestants.
To deepen your Rosary experience I suggest watching videos about the particular mystery, I really struggled on the 2 mystery of Joy but a video of Sensus Fidelium made it an amazing mystery for me. I pray the whole rosary 15 decades every day and by FAR the best part is the painful mysteries and according to Saint Gemma Galgani, Jesus LOVES when we pray his passion. Hope this helps
I don't know if you're already doing it, but each decade of each mystery has Spiritual Fruits associated with them. They vary depending on where you look. For example: The Assumption has the Spiritual Fruit of The Desire for Heaven. So you can reflect on Mary being Assumed, or you can reflect on her desire to be reunited with her son, or even your own desire for heaven.
Your comment made me smile. I admire your honesty - why NOT go with the visualizations that work for us? It will morph and expand as you continue your journey. Frankly, the Coronation is a tough one for me to contemplate as well. That one gives me a few questions to ponder - it’s a mystery alright! You’ll see. In a few months, you’ll have a different point of view….isnt that just wonderful? Oh, I love the mysteries in Catholicism!
I am so excited to embark on this journey with you Father Mark-Mary! I have felt that the Blessed Mother has been desiring me to grow in deeper devotion to the Rosary recently, but I haven’t been sure where to begin. God bless you and all the folks at Ascension, may this ministry bring countless souls to Christ through Mary. Totus Tuus!
i already downloaded the Rosary in a Year plan. i hope to do well with all of you my fellow Catholic Christians! thanks in advance to Father Mark Mary and Ascension ❤❤
Thanks for the heads-up. Just googled “Rosary in a Year Plan” and got a link to Ascension Press - give them your email and they’ll send PDF of the plan. I can’t copy the link here.
