New to slide divers, and watched a bunch of videos but was the best of them all, when it came to rigging them up.

I have used Dipsy Divers many times but wasn't sure how to rig the Slide Diver. I bought a few several years ago at a garage sale ($1 each!) but then moved to a part of the country where I never used them. I am heading out to help teach my brother some deep trolling tactics so I dug the Slide Divers out again. Can't wait to try them. Your video is really helpful. Thanks for putting it out there. Tight lines!!!

I sold Slide Divers for many years. I would rig them for customers in a similar manner. Using braid for a threader is making this harder than it has to be. Reminds me of "pushing a rope". Instead, use a 30" piece of 15-20# mono. Fold the mono in half so it looks like a hairpin, touch the two cut ends with a lighter flame and "weld" them together. Then rig it like in the video. When the mono comes out the lure end of the diver, thread the bead on the mono and tie an overhand knot in the mono to secure it. Use a large snap or safety pin to hold the loops on each end together. When you want rig, take the snap off, put two feet or so of your braid in the back loop, hold the diver and bead with one hand, pull with the other hand. Done. All ready to tie on your swivel and leader.

Hey Mark great video, what colors would you recommend for the weekend salmon slayers, looking to pick up a couple divers and try them vs LJ's I have black and watermelon now. Black has been the more active color.

Marc I didn’t get a piece of tubing with my slide diver. Is that your own idea? If so what size/where did you get the tubing? Thank you for the great tip.

The new versions don’t come with the tubing… They have a brass insert instead and you don’t need the tubing.

@@KingsLandingSportFishing ok thanks. I thought it was the other way around. I have a reel rigged with 30# braid. Is that strong enough to use slide divers? The slide diver was a great addition to the spread. A 30’ ande mono leader made it such a welcomed feeling instead of the straight wire. Putting the flasher /fly combo on the slide diver rod was a game changer. I can’t hand line with just my wife and I so the slide diver was just the right ticket. Thank you for sharing.

I noticed you didn’t add a bead before you tied on you terminal tackle. Typically you add it before hand to prevent damage to your knot from the diver releasing and sliding down to the knot correct?

I’ve run them without beads many times and have not seen knot damage.

Why does color matter with a slide diver? If I’m 50 feet behind the diver I wouldn’t think color would matter. The thought here is to get it out and down and stealth. Not diver attraction. I use black slides and nothing else

Depends on how you use it…. It it’s 30-50ft away I agree with you 100% and that’s when I use clear as black is supposed to go almost chrome like down deep in the water column. If I’m using it with a shorter lead the. The color can matter a lot.

Part of the slide diver benefit is also have no diver lead when netting a fish. Sometimes I may only use 8-10ft lead but I like trying the fish when it slides down to zero ft. Especially with charger customers

If I run a short lead 6-12’ behind a diver. I never would consider a slide. Doesn’t make sense to run short leads behind a slide. I don’t really think you’d be using the right tool for the task. But hey what do I know. I’m just a novice looking for useful tips

@@redlinefishing - I only use slide divers and let me tel you they are very effective with a short leader and it’s much easier to land fish with people who have never fished before…. ie: charter customers
