For a small 4x5m base I apparently need 12 x 1 ton bags of MOT Type 1. Inc delivery, that would be around £1000 quid. I’d need to shovel and wheelbarrow it around the back too (ugh!). Then I’d need to buy around 20 bags of pebble gravel, which would set me back around £2000 quid. Turns out it’s cheaper to just slabs on top of soil, or buy decking. All I wanted was a little gravel patio next to my old cedar shed. Building materials prices are absurd.
Does this principal apply for say at a different part of the garden i.e back garden i.e 160mm depth etc.. I am doing 5 m x 3 m patio area at the back of the garden with no property attached. and not sure if my calculation is right , so the drop should be 16cm but should it be this since its not adjoining any property
will it be surrounded by lawn or soil or both.. personally i wouldn't worry about it too much as water would run in to the gaps and into edge of lawn etc .plus you're not likely to sit out in a rainstorm..my patios drains into lawn no problems
