If you use salted you should remove the adding salt step

It does depending on ingredients. When I make German chocolate cake and cannot use salted butter to grease my pan. It messes my cake up.

Why would you waste butter to grease your baking pans? Cooking oil serves the same purpose at a fraction of the cost of butter.
