THANK YOU FATHER FOR THIS SERMON. IT IS SO VERY INFORMATIVE & NECESSARY SO WE DO NOT MAKE A MISTAKE TO TAKE UP TOO MUCH TIME IN THE CONFESSIONAL THAT OTHERS WHO REALLY NEED TO IT DUE TO MORTAL SINS OR LENGHT OF TIME SINCE THEY WENT TO CONFESSION CAN HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO GO CONFESS. I ALWAYS WORRY THAT AT TIMES I MIGHT BE GOING TOO OFTEN. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE FOR GRANT THE GIFT OF CONFESSION & NOT TO BE SO QUICK TO FALL INTO SIN BECAUSE OF THIS GIFT. GOD BLESS.

“Confessing our sins takes the nails out of a Jesus” -Saint John Vianney Sins are judged according to species, number and circumstance. Confession is a sacrament of humiliation. The goal is to bring our sins to light and be humiliated for them in a controlled setting and then make penance. There is no better way to do it than in controlled setting and with a good confessor. Hello Father I just have one question Father I went for confirmation a couple of weeks ago and the priest didn’t ask me to recite the Act of Contrition prayer. Was that confession still valid? Thank you Father!

I've been comtiplating how to make a good confession without repeating past sins.... It's so hard to get over the past sins and the pain I caused Jesus....he was born to die for our sins....

Seek a private appointment with a priest or spiritual director. If you received true absolution, it is sinful to continue to dwell upon it. You are focusing on yourself. Focus your eyes on Christ. Instead of the pain you caused Christ, fix your eyes upon his Divine Mercy. Try reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet every day for a number of days. Have you ever received a truly sincere apology and forgiven someone? Have you ever received an apology where someone keeps apologizing after you’ve forgiven them? Its damaging.

Thank you, Father! Growing up, I was never taught the importance of "kind and number," but no priest had ever questioned it until my last Confession. Does this make all of my previous Confessions invalid? I have always tried to keep things concise so as not to deprive another of the Sacrament.

All sacraments must be prepared for, because they are serious and sacred. The sacrament of confession is not a therapy session. It is a place to confess wrongs and receive absolution and grace.
