I like Cowboy’s strategy of going in really high level on NG+ and try to do an every man build to be able to try all the weapons

I think it's worth to mention seing that the new area is "the shadow lands" holy damage builds might raise up in value...

I think you missed defeating Radahn as well. I read somewhere that might be necessary for the DLC access as well.

I’m a role player through-and-through. I will likely not worry about getting there early or late. I will get there precisely when I mean to get there.

Great video, Miyazaki did say that the dlc scaling will be different than base game because they took consideration that people would be high level and OP and will get nerfed in the dlc if i understood right

Gonna make a character that kept Melina and Malenia alive just to see if they'll have any special dialogue. Maybe even progress Ranni's quest up to the point of beating Radahn since defeating Radahn is one of the prerequisites of the DLC.

I'll continue with my main. I didn't take him to NG+ and I really rushed through some of the endgame zones. Ended up at level 144 which seems just fine for the DLC. For now I'll find/respec to a build I like (I went battle mage but I want to try crusader), collect all the talismans I'd want and all the smithing stones to upgrade whatever weapon I find in the DLC that I really like - and wait before Miquella's Egg! I spent over 120 hours getting everything I wanted on this character back then - there's no way I'm starting from scratch.

Great video, nice to see ER cropping up again on the Fextra account. FYI, Miyazaki stated in an interview that Mohg's boss is indeed where you access the DLC.

I'm playing through on a new character to shake off some rust and get back into the groove of things. Playing with just the Lance and a greatshield since I finally found the lance.

Your Elden Ring videos are the best! As someone who isn’t a gamer and never knew of FromSoftware games until ER, your videos have been extremely useful as I make my slow painful but enjoyable grind through my first ER play through. (I’m just now to the capital outskirts and windmill area after around 90 hours.)

I was already preparing for NG+ and gathering all the weapons/spells/incans I wanted. Then helldivers 2 came out and haven’t been back on it since. This reminded me I need to finish my own check list

Decided to start a new game with my primary character build. Hopefully by the time the dlc comes out I'll be ready for it

One thing I definitely did for my second and third character was limit how many weapons I maxed out, on top of stocking up on lesser upgrade materials. I assume that there will be more ancient stones in the DLC but for all I know, my dream weapon will be the first thing I pick up. So I'll definitely be ready on that end.

How to prepare for dlc: Check hard drive space. Pay for and download DLC.

Long story short. Just replay the game

As someone who just finished the main story on their 1st playthrough ( using your Nebula Knight build !!!! Which beat the Fire Giant 1st try !!!! ) I appreciate this information. I missed a lot along the way especially in the late game and was wondering if I should start NG +1. This video convinced me to stay in my current game and really sweep all the zones for these items I am missing :) Thank you for your hard work !

I'm def going for faith/arc build, wings like crucible knights? New dragon incantations? New blood spells? I want to be ready to use them all :D

I’ve beat this game twice have all the tails and pretty much everything you can get, started a fresh character and realized it better to farm with my main then the new, I’m just playing NG+3

Thanks so much for making a video on the subject as I was quite unsure about exactly how I should prepare. I just played for 100 hours or so right after release and haven't touched it at all ever since.

Watching this just made me feel good that I played Elden ring and got everything on my own. Everything you mentioned I have and got on my 6 play through of the game. I’m so ready for this DLC!😎

I'm starting a new game this week to sharpen up my skills ahead of the DLC. Can't wait!

I just started a new character and play through the game again and up to Level 150 and go into the DLC with it first. Then i will go with my original character on Level 350 on NG +3 which has every weapon x2, armor and talisman and is ready to upgrade around 50 weapons to +24 to get all the stuff from the DLC and try out new weapons.

Perfect excuse to do NG+ with my first character and get to the endgame with 4 months to spare before the DLC…keep up the content man

For me it will be a lvl 257 character from my platinum trophy file finishing the DLC and then doing a NG+ and get some weapon doupes. I play the game once (PS Cloud allows to platinum in 1 play thru 😮), bought it after Armored Core 6 was plated and only because it is the same studio that makes Armores Core... and I was expecting ERs dlc by March with FF7R pt2 in between. Now it's better for me no rush with FF7R.

I was thinking of the same thing over last weekend as I already was into NG+ when i completed the game initially and regretted the idea of getting to NG+ as I had Mohg already unlocked in NG. Thankfully, I completed Mohg & Radhan in NG+ just to make my way into the DLC. I was able to grind and get my character at a good level where I didn't struggle with any of the bosses, as I'm a mage. But considering I want to run Messmer's weapon, I might have to run and get the bell bearings to just be ready. Appreciate the insights for sure and I'm glad I didn't start a NG over my already built and ready NG+ character.

Fextra, I'm sure you already get tons of feedback like this and have been for years now, but at the risk of sounding redundant and unoriginal, I have to convey again how awesome your channel and website/wiki guides are. There aren't many channels dedicated to Soulsborne/Soulslikes/ARPG/"Masocore" games, especially prior to Elden Ring, you were the only one that I knew of. This channel and website have been saved and bookmarked for me for years, and though I don't like to spoil these games for myself or rely on walk-through guides, this genre is mostly comprised of games with vague, environmental storytelling, hidden areas and bosses, complex and convoluted side quests, and we need somewhere to go for help, advice, build suggestions, combat breakdowns, etc. This channel is the BEST and ONLY place to go IMO, and you're incredibly detailed and precise, the layout and UI of your wiki/guides is iconic, your videos are so helpful while remaining spoiler free, your reviews are unbiased, objective and reliable. And all of that is enhanced by your very calm, kind voice over and demeanor. Thank you for all your hard work and for being my crutch and wingman for all the Masocore, Soulslikes games I've loved since 2009's Demon's Souls. You're the gold standard for this genre and if I had made a channel for these kinds of games, I feel like we're very alike but I could only wish to be half as good at it as you are. Thanks again, I look forward to the plethora of breakdowns and reviews for Rise of the Ronin, DD2 and Shadow of Erdtree, as well as Wukong down the road. Thanks for the video. I just finished the game on PS5 and was debating on NG+ vs just going around and getting some of the things I missed on my play through. I'm not good so I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hope to not get too stomped in the DLC when it comes out. Thankfully I can farm Albunarics until the cows come home if I need more levels.

Im fired up! I started a ng+ just got this! Highly recommend as it does make you fall in love with Elden Ring all over again. First playthrough i went Dex/Fth this time I'm running Str/Int!! Hyped for bosses, weapons, and of course FextraLifes lulling voice hiding is through all of it. See y'all in the shadow lands!

I picked up elden ring late, about 6 months ago, timing was effing perfect tbh. I've got 180hrs, in ng+ and have most essential build items. My body is ready.

Yeah I agree about using more advanced builds, I have two that are way over into journey 3 or 4. But based on a lot of your builds I also have a lot of 150 builds too. Definitely great advice for new players. Great vid👏👏👏👏

your post was a desision makin video for me. Just installed Elden Ring 5 days ago and i just finished it, got 90% achievements, all the seals / talisman, maxed out flasks and bought about all bell bearings and have about 10 ancients of each then i farmed my Bloodhound bloodloss build on the farmin spot with elden beast sword till i got to lvl 300. I was about to go to NG+ but just watched your video and realised im in the perfect spot to wait it out till DLC and jump right in while remaining on Base game difficulty.

When the dlc trailer came out I got super motivated to do a completely new character and use a build I never use in souls games. Im making my first faith build and it’s so much fun. Im also still finding new things in the game after 200 hours

100% and got everything I need beat it 12 times and I'm almost max level but the last 50 levels are incredibly time consuming just farming runes but got all talismans and numerous of them all the tears about a ton of golden seeds and sacred tears and can't wait for the dlc and new incants sorceries and weapons I'm sooo ready!!!

Another good tip if you haven’t done so already. Get the Walking Mausoleum’s prepped because we’re most likely going to have a few more remembrance bosses. And it’s best to have them all knocked down and ready so you can go back to them and duplicate to get both items from the DLC remembrances. I’m also level 526 on NG+8. It’s gonna be a hell of a time 😂😂

Going through the game again because of all the hype and it's crazy while being gone since launch ( did all endings played 6 characters ) I just breeze through even with some surprises so I'm excited as I'm getting to actual challenging. Bosses and get a real refresher I'll save melania as a warm up for the dlc lol and go into it w the idea of an extended endgame challenge

My OG character is on NG at level 171. I'm at the stone platform right now with just need to pick an ending which I'll probably do after completing the DLC (or maybe just before and not start NG+). I did start a fresh character because pretty much everyone is dead in my OG save because I was worried about having less character interaction. Also for practice since pretty much everyone is dead. I did just beat Margit without a summon so I was pretty proud of myself for that. So I'll probably tackle with my OG character first , see how it goes and then tackle with my character just started since I have a few months to make progress with them

I'm on NG+7 RL139 STR build for both invading and PvE. I already prepared my save for the DLC, beaten every boss up to Fire Giant (Don't want to burn Melina because she might be in the DLC) and collected everything/touched every grace and every stake for coop.

finishing my first playthrough tonight and cant wait for the dlc , its going to be a blast!

I got to NG+6 in front of Radagon, I got every Spirit Summon (including the puppets from Seluvis), every ash of war, every Incantation, every Sorcery, every talisman, every tear for the physick flask, every weapon, every piece of armor, and every gesture. I have been waiting for 2 years 😅

How I prepared. Made a new game. Sweated it out through a few bosses (two story bosses) margit and Godrick and smaller ones. Farmed 10m runes and now I'm level 193 😊

I feel like an experience of this depth really deserves a fresh, full playthrough. You'll get a lot more mileage out of the new gear from the DLC if you can enjoy it more in the main game, too.

I've never been so hyped for a DLC in all my life. Also looking forward to coming here for all the new DLC and OG game blend builds like i did in my original playthroughs 💪🏻💪🏻 June can't come quick enough.

I have three characters I’ve made but I’m going in with my original character from launch, Nocturno Culto!!! I’m half way through new game plus with that character and at level 220.

You have to beat radahn before you can enter dlc (stated in an interview) so if mohg counts as a great rune enya then its easy to get that talisman slot, if not the just beat godrick on the way like beating margrit

I just got Elden ring around December as my first souls game, had difficulty with godrick and rykard and the fire giant, when I got to mohg and lost to him twice I remembered I picked up a crystal tear that negates his ability, slapped that thang on and got the W instantly

I didn't even think about new weapons. That will definitely determine my class

I have a lvl 150 that I have used to 100% the game for the purpose of the dlc. All NPC quests are finished, I used the interactive map to clear every single area and dungeon, I have every item, weapon and armor. The things you have to do NG for I had my friend drop me. I’m so ready for this DLC

Currently just beat mohg on ng+ and was wondering if finishing the game before dlc rolls out would affect any of the upcoming questlines. do i finish my current playthrough or make a new character while waiting?

One thing to note is that you no longer have to reacquire the miner's and somber's bell bearings in NG+ if you already acquired them all in your first playthrough.

My ORIGINAL character is in NG+4 but I started a new one and doing everything to earned all the stuff. I might even do NG+ to level up more, get double of weapons and do some quest I haven’t done. After that imma just walk around lol.

I have hundreds of hours in the game with many playthroughs and multiple builds. But I have been forcing myself to not play it since the announced the DLC a year ago. I will do a fresh character. I just cant decide what build to go for. It will likley depend a lot on the new weapon classes.

I got my usual faith guy at 150 SL with whom i completed the whole game. I just launched a new (dreaded) magician character and im actually loving doing the whole game again since the gameplay is so different. Still conflited about doing a mage or an Obscure arcane build tho!

I started a new play through a few days ago. As a busy dad, that time frame sounds about right to be level 150+ by the time the DLC drops.

My strategy has been to over level my favorite builds. I know that the progression is going to be quite a bit different, but I would like to be ready.

I still have my save for my full playthrough, where I have pretty much everything because I didn't want to play the dlc in new game plus. I have recently started a new character, though, because I'm excited and thinking about Elden Ring again, but the main save will be the one I use. Think I'll probably respec before going into the dlc to try a different build. Can't wait for this dlc to drop.

I can't fkn wait. My first character I saved at the end of the game meaning I didn't start ng+. I did the frenzy flame ending and Melina is dead. Should be interesting.

I’m doing a new character with a build I felt looked cool. Dex/Faith with Scythe/Winged Scythe and lightning incantations. I started it a little bit ago and am now working my way through a bit of the area to get certain things. Upgraded weapons, bell-bearings, physick stuff, seeds and tears, etc. Gonna probably peck away at it until release up to Mohg without actually killing Mohg before the DLC. I don’t wanna take my NG+3 character into the DLC myself.

I'm over prepared for the Elden Ring Expansion I already defeated Mohg on a new playthrough and stop playing that's the best way to get yourself ready for the DLC

Is it better to prepare until a point after we beat Malenia or before or any other bosses? do we have any info on this part?
